Morning all. Looks like a 5 Vegas kind of day. Yay??It is for CI but probably not for many of their customers. Will give them a chance to catch up on shipping from a couple of Jams.
Shipping will probably get even more backed up, I'm sure these are going like crazy. Stats already show sales for every hour, you usually can't even say that during a jam. And someone bought 2 sets of them. That's a lot of 'layers of flavor'.Morning all. Looks like a 5 Vegas kind of day. Yay??It is for CI but probably not for many of their customers. Lot of factors come into online sales that skew things. A few of them I are International markets, B&M's buying in smaller quantities and cheaper than from distributors while avoiding some taxes, black market resellers.Shipping will probably get even more backed up, I'm sure these are going like crazy. Cigar Place has a sampler with 4 Hammer and Sickle cigars and 3 Ortsac cigars, I have never tried those either.Welcome! Good brand of cigars, boxes are cooler than the cigars tho :)

We were in Daytona Beach at my grandma's. My parents met us out there. Kind of a family reunion, I suppose. Other relatives visited at various times in the week. Didn't do Disney World since we're just an hour from Disneyland out here, and really didn't want to drag the kids around in that heat if we didn't have to. We went to Kennedy Space Center, everything else was just stuff around town... boardwalk, beach, etc. It was a nice week.

My brother in law started me on good cigars, I was a white owl, black and mild kind of guy. He has had me try the Cella reserve, San Cristobal, which was probably my favorite. Price point on that is a little high for me. I have tried others but just recently started paying attention to the brands. Cigar Place has a sampler with 4 Hammer and Sickle cigars and 3 Ortsac cigars, I have never tried those either.Welcome! Good brand of cigars, boxes are cooler than the cigars tho :)
Okay, greetings again. Had to read back and catch up on the soap opera and Joe's travels. Welcome back Joe. Howdy, Dusty and Steve. Welcome, Kidhawk. We're not always this neurotic.
Nah, fuck it. We're always this neurotic. Sometimes we're worse.
I just gloss over that nonsense. If it bothers one that much, at least there are others bothered, too, to commiserate with. I'll just smoke, drink, post, and be merry, Tuesdays excluded. Hey there, Bret. And yes, we're always this neurotic.

I really like Brick House toros. Hang out here and pay attention and you'll hear about some killer deals. Some of those killer deals will still be above your price point - I've got permanent burn scars on my left ass-cheek due to red-hot credit cards in my wallet - but still. Lots to be learned from the folks here, once you get through all the smoke. My brother in law started me on good cigars, I was a white owl, black and mild kind of guy. He has had me try the Cella reserve, San Cristobal, which was probably my favorite. Price point on that is a little high for me. I have tried others but just recently started paying attention to the brands. I have had a couple different Gurkas, you guys don't seem to like those much. I ordered some La Herencia Cubana which I liked but just want to try some different cigar brands. I was also thinking of the Brickhouse sampler.I was wondering about that, if your paying for the cool advertising rather than the cigar.Long time lurker, first time poster. I remember than being more expensive than others I liked and wanted to try, so I rarely purchased them...what cigars are some of your favorites now, we can probably point you in the right direction if you want to try some goodies.

Indeed. Morning, Will. Had a chance to try a My Father Cedros last week. Really liked it despite my general dislike for cedar wrapped cigars. I would go so far as to say I liked it more than the non-cedar wrapped MFs. I'll definitely be picking more up in the future. Can't remember the exact size I had... corona-ish.

I'm not too familiar with the MF Cedros but there were two boxes on the shelf, and I went with the smaller of the two. Neither were huge, both seemed a little larger than the 'standard' corona. TWSS, etc.

It was the Eminentes. I remember that from the pricing sticker. I really like the regular My Fathers but this one seemed to have more going on, flavor-wise.

Any opinions on the Hammer and Sickle brand of cigars. I was thinking of a sampler pack to try them. Cigar Place has a sampler with 4 Hammer and Sickle cigars and 3 Ortsac cigars, I have never tried those either.Welcome! Good brand of cigars, boxes are cooler than the cigars tho :)
I remember than being more expensive than others I liked and wanted to try, so I rarely purchased them...what cigars are some of your favorites now, we can probably point you in the right direction if you want to try some goodies.
Well, my boss is leaving Aug 8th. So now I'm back in the promotion discussion. Just when I was thinking about taking a job elsewhere. Sheesh.Meeting. Gotta go to a useless meeting. Back when the torture ends.Aren't they all...hope you get something accomplished! ;)

Been here before and it didn't pan out. We'll see. There's a position open at the school district in Enumclaw that would drop my commute from 90 minutes to 3 minutes...but likely won't pay as much. It would interfere some with my bantering, but yes...would increase the cigar budget some. On the other hand, the job close to home would also increase the cigar budget because it would cut the commute expenses from $200/mo to, like, none.I don't know, will a promotion, interfere with your bantering? Okay, greetings again. Had to read back and catch up on the soap opera and Joe's travels. Welcome back Joe. Howdy, Dusty and Steve. Welcome, Kidhawk. We're not always this neurotic.
Nah, fuck it. We're always this neurotic. Sometimes we're worse.
I just gloss over that nonsense. If it bothers one that much, at least there are others bothered, too, to commiserate with. I'll just smoke, drink, post, and be merry, Tuesdays excluded. Hey there, Bret. And yes, we're always this neurotic.
And a hearty GFY to everyone.
Indeed. Morning, Will. Had a chance to try a My Father Cedros last week. Really liked it despite my general dislike for cedar wrapped cigars. I would go so far as to say I liked it more than the non-cedar wrapped MFs. I'll definitely be picking more up in the future. Can't remember the exact size I had... corona-ish.

Can't remember the exact size I had... corona-ish.
2 options. Corona gorda and lonsdale. Both are excellent, consistent, etc. etc. And I agree--better than the non cedar wrapped MF, imo. That could be vitola related more than anything else, though.
I've never gotten in to the Le Bijou. Not bad, just nothing I've ever felt the need to stock up on. Definitely prefer the standard My Father, and from the one MF Cedros I'd put that as my favorite from the line.

I got some Cigar City Brewing Jai Alai (7.5% ABV) and some Cuban-Style Espresso Brown Ale (also from Cigar City) which was somewhere in the mid 5% ABV. So I guess I can't say that there is a lower alcohol percentage there. That concept sounds vaguely familiar but I can't say I've ever seen it in person anywhere. Maybe one of those Mormon states?
Both beers were OK but didn't stand out over anything I've had here.

Ah. I see you still have a taste for the coffee flavored with the Espresso selection. Did you ever give your impression of the ST Mokah? Can't remember if you did. I tried it and thought it was okay, but didn't measure up to the Creme Brulee... and forget the Choklat, Scott's drinking every last one of those. I don't think there's a dusty bottle left in the state til Fall.
I think I heard the alcohol thing when a friend came back from vacationing. Said something along the lines of large production beer, like Bud, had less alcohol% than a 12pk he bought in GA. Wasn't sure if he was just pulling my leg or not. Guess I could Snopes it, but it's still Bud so...

I would recommend doing just a little research before you go. There were a few times when I was at a bar and didn't know if something was craft/local or just some random shitty beer I'd never heard of before. Had some stuff from Magic Hat that was alright, but if I recall they're from Vermont or New York or somewhere up there. Nothing bad about the few I had from them but they were "poor man's Ballast Point" with some of the styles I tried.

Some states have different rules and regulations regarding what can be called beer as in regards to ABV (and classifications of lager vs. ale, etc. Really pointless bureaucratic rules to ensure the expanding bureaucracy's expansion continues and so on).
Texas, I believe, has the TABC which forces anything above 4% to sold as an Ale and anything below as a Beer and they restrict various terms like "strong" or "pale" and whatnot. As a result, some beers get made differently on a regional basis.
It happens all the time on the global platform. Guinness is supposed to vary quite a bit, depending on what country you order it in. But that's just the company catering towards a country's regulations or "national tastes."

Interesting list of 'coffee's here. Looks like you've nailed down the #9 and #10. Looks like they really liked the VaS also. Have you had the Founder's Breakfast Stout. That's PFG! I can't compare to the VaS since it's another I haven't sampled.

Oh, and it also goes towards where you buy the beer. A number of states have ABV caps on what can be sold in gas stations and supermarkets (3%) as opposed to a regular liquor store. So that's also where the lower ABV stuff comes from.Agreed...that's where I see the discrepancies mostly.

The two boxes I got the same time you got yours are almost gone now so I had to settle for the Maduro that were up yesterday, they are pretty good also though. They only sold like 20 boxes about a month ago out of the 100 they had up between the two originals they had up so they should hopefully pop up within the week. I almost missed out last night to a bunch of last minute bidders.only 3 deals on the DDA, JR must be running out of cigars! afternoon gentsAnd none of them Omar Ortez Originals. I keep looking, but they haven't been there in a long time. I should have bought that second box. Mornin', Fred.

Oh..Evening men!!! Just dropped a cool $450 on the air conditioner repair. No pun intended. Went out yesterday...some part that looks like a coke can that controls everything went out. I guess getting 6 years out of that thing was good before needing a new one. I want at least 7 years out of this new part!!!Compressor?
Good evening boys, Las Calaveras clipped and ready.I have a couple tucked away for a bit that I'm real anxious to try. Let me know what you think.
Good evening boys, Las Calaveras clipped and ready.the wrapper feels like silk in my hand. A great draw. Smoke bomb with minimal pepper to start. Dry finish, interesting cigar. Can't pick out any distinct flavors, but it's good.
i also enjoyed the La Antiquedad, this is not as bold to start, but seems equal in quality.Good evening boys, Las Calaveras clipped and ready.I have a couple tucked away for a bit that I'm real anxious to try. Let me know what you think.
Sampling my first La Antiguadad currently. Probably my best "new smoke" for the year so far.
So OyDave, if it's not KC, give me another clue.oh, from my earlier Avi, gay biker in buttress chaps. Lucky you didn't see that one.

Good evening boys, Las Calaveras clipped and ready.Think I'll join you with a Francis Coppola Directors Series torp. It's been sitting in the humi for about a year. One of my stepdaughters picked it up for me last year while she and her boyfriend went vineyard hopping last year in Cali.
evening KC, my van has no AC, $130 next time I take the car in. But it's in the 60's here, so who needs AC.Oh..Evening men!!! Just dropped a cool $450 on the air conditioner repair. No pun intended. Evening King!!! In the house. Came home yesterday afternoon after a bullshit, crap day...instantly knew something was wrong. Did all the things I knew how to do..the breaker switch, clean filter and checked that the thermostat wasn't screwed up too. Main unit outside wouldn't turn on. Miserable nights sleep...repair guy showed up on time. Took 3 min for him to know what was wrong and 10 min to install and test. $450 later...Oh..Evening men!!! An actual cigar question coming...anyone tried the CAO extreme??? The ONLY CAO I've ever liked are the LT and concert. I see the gentlemen's deuce has the brickhouse & extreme 10/$30. I know I like the BH...wondering about the extreme.Never had an Extreme, and I am always leary of cigars with stupid names. Only CAO I ever liked is the LT.

Yep..new in my last catalog. The section that has 2 5'ers of different cigars for a certain price. I can never seem to find any of the 2 different cigars that I like. My daughter came home from Tblisi last week. She said she was having some blurry vision in one eye. Doctor at the MAYO clinic said it's a detached retina. Going to see the specialist tomorrow.Must have been a bumpy ride back. Good wishes!

LT Intrepidos from a March 2011 box. Been a while since I smoked one of these.
I believe Fred had a Punch the other night and was having problems with the draw. I never did hear his results...LT Intrepidos from a March 2011 box. Been a while since I smoked one of these.
Punch reveals an effortless draw. Quick toast and light. First few puffs taste like an LT.

I'm having an LT that I punched. Using my punch, not a fist, just in case you were wondering. The LT has an effortless draw. The punch does, too, but that's by virtue of it being a hollow ring of metal. Fred's Punch was a cigar, I imagine.

The LT did not age poorly or anything of the sort. Very rich, full flavor, but exceedingly smooth. Subtle spice/pepper so far. definite Cameroon notes coming through. Really excellent. Best cigar CAO ever made, imo, and by a long shot.
I'm going to go and watch a little tv... See you guys later..little as in a 7" screen or little as in 30 min?
sounds interesting. I'd agree, not a big CAO fan, but the LT's were a nice line. I hear the new Sinister Sam is a solid smoke. Stupid name, but I may end up trying one.LT Intrepidos from a March 2011 box. Been a while since I smoked one of these.

Much the same into the middle third. Some sweet spices and sweet tobacco, chocolate, cedar, maybe a whiff of citrus notes here and there. General spiciness has gone up but still a subdued, secondary component. White pepper on the retro. Medium-full, rich, smooth. Tastes like a Ecu Hababo and Cameroon got together and made a good fucking cigar.
