Fixing to put on a pot of chili for dinner.
Over rice? By itself? Without beans? You'll need to elaborate.
Over rice in Louisiana, never with beans in Tx and almost always by itself in TX. Sometimes some Fritos and/or cheese are added. Tonight - all by itself with a few saltine crackers on the side.
And if you're in Cincinnati, over spaghetti, with shredded cheese, beans and onions. (known as 3 way, 4 way and 5 way)
That actually sounds yummo.
The thing that takes some getting used to is the base/sauce. Some different and interesting spices and flavors:
Place the beef mixture over medium heat, and stir in the onions, tomato sauce, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, chocolate, chili powder, salt, cumin, cinnamon, cayenne pepper, cloves, allspice berries, and bay leaf. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to a simmer, and cook, stirring occasionally, for 3 hours.
