Good morning,  folks.
Morning Mr. Mayor.  What's on the athletic calendar for today?
First we have soccer. Then appointment with the contractor. Then 8 hours (or at least it'll feel that way) of dance recitals.
What are you having done?
We're just talking right now. I can't emphasize that enough. About a possible extension on the 2nd floor (over the already extended kitchen). And a couple of other small odds and ends.
Simply stated:  he is doing whatever the warden tells him to do.
It was definitely her idea but I'll admit that I like it and it will work well for our family. Now the $ involved is something completely different.

Sounds just like the way Dean starts his projects.

Sounds like a nice day but sure glad you are getting to enjoy it instead of me. :)
I'm told I will look back on these days fondly... Right now I don't see it.
Been there and done it and I mostly look bac and see the many mistakes I made but certainly not sorry as we did what we thought was right at the time.  Lesson learned, stay away from team sports unless the kid is the very best of the best of the best beyond the rest.
Can't agree with that one.  Team sports are great and necessary in perspective.  Take out the participation trophies, lessons learned in having to train, prepare and rely on others, deal with adversity and loss is a fundamental life lesson.  Besides, if done right, it's fun.
I agree with you on this one NJDave. Plus how will you ever find out your kid has a special talent if she doesn't try? Maybe some day my daughters will play for Cleveland.

The key is "if done right" and at the youth level and now largely at the high school level they are not "done right".  They are daddy ball and have been at least as long as I have been alive.  Non team sports offer everything you mentioned and much more, you win you loose you make it or break it all on your own and they are based on your performance not on anyone's opinion.

Don't disagree with you, but isn't that unfairness a taste of real life?  I can only speak from my experience with my kids who participated in that imperfect system, but they got a lot out of it.  They were also involved with non sports extracurriculars which I feel are equally important.

Hey, we've got the Lake Erie Monsters playing at the Q tonight trying to sweep their way to the Calder Cup. Go minor league hockey!
