Dean better gather up his coconuts!
HOUSTON (KTRK) --
The National Hurricane Center says there's a 30% chance a tropical depression or storm could form in the southern Gulf of Mexico after the weekend.
Many computer models spin up an area of low pressure and send it toward Florida. If something does develop, it would likely stay away from Texas because of a front entering the Gulf, which acts as a shield from tropical activity.
Whether or not anything develops, the deep tropical moisture around the disturbance could bring flooding rains to portions of the southeast US next week.
