Browns preparing to cut ties with Johnny Manziel

 Johnny Manziel was in danger of having the Browns give up on him after two seasons even before his latest off-field incident came to light.

The Cleveland Browns are fed up with Johnny Football, and they're not going to take it anymore.
Embarrassed after two years of antics from hard-partying quarterback Johnny Manziel, including his latest incident that followed an altercation between Manziel and his former girlfriend with a police helicopter searching for the former Heisman Trophy winner from Texas A&M, the Browns served notice that they will soon cut ties with Manziel.

Under NFL rules, the Browns can cut Manziel as soon as next week. However, they are expected to wait until March 9 when the new league year begins for salary-cap reasons. Cutting him now would cost $4.6 million against the salary cap and the Browns lack the cap space to do so now. So, his employment with the team will last another month.

The NFL is investigating whether Manziel, who spent time in a drug treatment facility last year, has violated the NFL personal-conduct policy in his latest incident. Manziel was previously investigated for allegedly hitting girlfriend Colleen Crowley, but was eventually cleared.
