I thought I'd stop in for a few minutes and say, "hi everyone."  I've been working on my wife's laptop, and after awhile I just want to scream, and go watch tv for awhile.  I put a new hard drive into to, and have nothing but problems, non-stop.  Finally I switched in the bios from AHCI to Compatibility Controller mode, and everything but the sound works.  The sound driver keeps saying unsigned.  I tried reinstalling the driver, but still the same problem.  If I press F8 while booting and select boot with unassigned drivers, everything works great.  I uninstalled the sound driver again, and will try reinstalling it.  Otherwise I guess it's always going to be an F8 unassigned signed drivers boot from not on... ugh..!
Damn - that sounds like a fricken mess!

Afternoon Steve.

Hey, Dave. Just entering the pre-hazzuh lull...

What's the spirit/beer of the day?

I've been enjoying some Bulleit bourbon for the past couple weeks. 2nd bottle actually. Good stuff and competitively priced.

I have a full bottle of this stuff (Bulleit), but in the Green Rye version.  I like it allot.  But a couple of weeks ago they had Makers Mark on sale for $22.95 a 1/5th.  My wife was nice and bought me one.  But later I was nicer and snuck back up to the store and bought me 2 more bottles, in which I gave my son one.  I do like the Bulleit allot better than the Makers Mark thou.

Actually, the YouTube video with the attractive girl from Western Digital made it seem easy.  1. Remove HD Cover, 2. Remove Screws, 3. Pull out old HD. 4. Remove adaptor from old HD and Place on New. 5. Insert new HD, 6. Replace Cover, 7. Install backup software.  That took 20 minutes.  I've been trouble shooting it for the past 3 weeks for drivers not assigned.  YIKES...!!!  Well, that's enough of that...!

Drivers are the worst, nice job on the HDD swap. Did you go to an SSD?

Hey, TxDave, Shaun, DoItForJohnnyDave
LALTS, well, he's getting the start tomorrow, so let's see if the JohnnyLovers jizz themselves cheering.

Ha! Well, at least you're already planning on drinking. Could change the amount though, so be a good boy scout and "be prepared"... just in case.  ;)
Actually, Nate cancelled on me cause he's planning on being a big movie star Thus and Fri night. So it'll be just the wife and I. Still drinking and smoking, though.
Maybe better than Nate....just sayin'   :-X
I'll try to talk her into a drinking game. Every time the Browns do something stupid, she drinks. Should make the rest of my night a cake walk. ;)
And with Manziel starting....
Damn, I like Cameron Diaz...!

No, I just replaced it with a similar 500 gb laptop hard drive for $50.  But who ever thought up that Signed Driver shit should be shot...!  Before I switch the bios from AHCI to Compatibility, the Wi-Fi driver would not work.  So I tired a Wi-Fi driver from a Think Pad, and it worked perfect...  After switching to Compatibility mode, all the drivers work except the sound.  Oh well..

IBMs are notoriously shitty for putting firmware on their HDs that forces compatibility checks.  I had a T43 when I was in college and I swapped out the HDD when it went down - still to this day when I restart it the computer goes to a validate screen and then beeps before booting windows.

They still had IBM's when you were in school?  Before they sold them to China as Lenovo?

As promised, I left a bit early and lit up something new.  Will definitely look to pick up more of these El Gueguense.

Pepper bomb at the start, lots of cedar, and some sweet dried fruit notes too.
