I think we should restore the word "perverse."  "Sickness" is something that happens to you that is mostly beyond your control.  "Perverted" likewise implies that outside forces messed you up.  But "perverse" originates in the soul - or the lack thereof. Perversion is what comes out of it.  Just my opinion, of course.

One can't get much more perverse than sexualizing his own children.
