Morning, muchachos. It's getting really ugly at work. Jayzus.
Afternoon, puritanHistorianRaz.
G'day, Dave.
Yeah, history is my favorite subject, and in my mind is THE most important subject because it explains how we got here. You and I tend to often find ourselves on different sides of political debates, but it behooves us both to remember that there are ancient historical reasons why we come to the views we have and why there are such divides - none of it is because you're a "libtard" or I'm a "fascist."
I tend to vary wildly in reading subjects and history is definitely one of them. As Winston said (stole), "those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." It would behoove many in political power these days to have that tatooed backwards on their foreheads, so they could see it in the mirror each morning.
On that you and I wholeheartedly agree. I'll hold them down and you run the tattoo gun.
And it was George Santayana who said it. The phrase was linked to Churchill by 1985. But while Winston would have almost certainly agreed, and could well have quoted it somewhere, no one can find him on record doing so.

(Among my favorite historical subjects to study are Churchill and the Kennedys)
