Regarding Romeo + Juliet that we saw yesterday:
It was really good. The actors were amazing. Romeo was played by Kit Connor and Juliet by Rachel Zegler. She is a local girl that became famous for playing Maria in Spielberg's West Side Story. The set was minimalist and in the round, so there were no curtains. The actors were all dressed in modern clothes, wearing piercings and tats, vaping and smoking, etc. However, the entire dialog was, in fact, in Old English. Then, a couple of times, they broke into song, but I wouldn't call it a musical. I guess the juxtaposition of modern and classic was interesting.
The show starts with very loud club music as we're walking into the theater with a bunch of dudes playing hackysack with a teddy bear. I just thought they were warming up the audience, but it turns out they were the secondary actors.
