I recently saw an interview with Van Zandt, in which he admitted that quitting the E Street Band on the cusp of the "Born in the USA" tour was "career suicide." He missed out on millions of dollars and massive fame.

I recently saw an interview with Van Zandt, in which he admitted that quitting the E Street Band on the cusp of the "Born in the USA" tour was the dumbest career move he ever made. He missed out on millions of dollars.

I can certainly imagine.

John Krasinski of The Office fame said something similar about the shots of Scranton he made on a trip to the town that he sold to the creator of the show for peanuts, the shots which appear in the opening credits (which he originally offered for free, but Greg Daniels insisted he be paid something). 200+ episodes and millions paid for streaming rights later, he said it's the worst financial deal he's ever made.
