Morning, muchachos.  Late check-in.
Therefore, early check-out?

Hola, Bret.
Some say I checked out a long time ago.
I've definitely been told the same.

Today's gut punch and quote of the day by my interim boss, "I took care of it myself based on your track record".

I won't go into details but let's just say that I'm glad my boss is returning from maternity leave next Monday.
Sounds like a real ass.

Speaking as someone who manages 9 people, Interim Boss is an asshole.  Even with employees that actually are problematic, or ones you have to terminate, a good manager never EVER gets personal.  Guy's a moron.

I appreciate that. I'm going to try to concisely summarize this latest thing that "I did wrong".

He and our SVP were on an email distribution that I was copied on Friday afternoon. The security program office was asking for us to update a PowerPoint slide detailing what might be the risk if we weren't fully funded for the next budget. Specifically, if there was a chance reaching our defined metric would be a delayed.

I volunteered to give it a first crack. I then shared it with the two of them only, asking them to provide feedback before I uploaded the revision for the rest of the emailed to see.

There were crickets for two days. The deadline was yesterday at noon and at about 1:30 I was told that the deck had been further revised and could be uploaded. I did so within the hour (since at the time I was in a meeting and sharing my screen).

Although the changes he made were minor he was questioning where I got the data to backup my original figures. He said I should have contacted someone in finance to understand the consequences better. When I claimed that I came up with an educated guess based on the little information I had, I was told that the reason more information hadn't been shared with me is that he had been working directly with finance and the program management office "based on my track record".

Had I not done anything at all, I would have been criticized for that too. This guy expects me to be a mind reader, shares little information with me regarding strategy and then expects that I should be able to figure it out. Unfortunately, he's got the ear and respect of the SVP. I'm probably being paranoid, but I feel like the SVP has been ignoring/avoiding me for the last few weeks. This does not bode well for me being converted to full-time.

Aside from my interactions with him, I actually enjoy the job.

Sorry I wasn't very concise.

Sounds like he's trying to make sure you fail.
