Saw a recruitment commercial for ICE on my lunch break. Apparently, I can join and help get rid of the "worst of the worst". So I've got that going for me, which is nice.

Now, it's time to take the middle kid to work then get some groceries. Maybe call ICE when I'm done, see what they've got to offer. Hazzuh!

Game food yesterday was pulled pork sandwiches.  The missus had a gorgeous bone-in shoulder roast.  I made a dry rub with paprika, chipotle chile powder, and all the other usual suspects.  Seared it in avocado oil, then sauteed onions, deglazed with apple cider vinegar, poured in a bottle of Guiness, some Worcestershire, and a little barbecue sauce, put the meat back in and braised it for 3 hours.  It was amazing.  We're kicking ourselves that we didn't think to make coleslaw until too late.  We'll remedy that tonight for leftovers.
Now I'm hungry!
I picked up a baked falafel bowl with quinoa. Let's see how bad it is.
Never had baked falafel before instead of fried, interesting. And I've never had quinoa, though the wife is a fan. I'll be curious to hear how it was.
It was terrible. But neither because it was baked, nor because of the quinoa. The falafel was dry and hard (because it was baked? I doubt it), but overall, the meal needed hummus, or more dressing, or something, because it wound up being tasteless.

The usual cause of hard falafel is overprocessing the chickpeas.   It could also be caused by using canned chickpeas, but I can't imagine there's a place in the New York metro area that would commit that sin.

This was school cafeteria food. Expectations were low and met.
