Good morning everyone.... I just thought I'd get up and have a refreshing Alka-Seltzer ...
-
I see today is Veteran Day, so Happy Veteran's Day to all you vets out there.... I can remember it was around mid December 1971. All the guys in the group I was in had orders to leave for Vietnam in 2 weeks. As we watched TV, Nixon broke in and announced he would no longer send anymore troops to Vietnam... Everyone was happy and relieved.... I had written on my Dream Sheet, "Alaska." The next thing I knew, my ass was on a plane heading to Fort Richardson, Anchorage, Ak.... Alaska was allot of fun, and everything turned out very nice... Especially since I had been assigned a jeep, and there was a near buy Air Force mess hall that I could sneek over too every once in awhile... :)
-
I received my package of cigars the other day. The $18.00 Arturo Fuente 858 5 Pack Candela 6x47 smell great...!!! I'm going to give them a week or two to rest before I try them, but I can't wait...!!!

I'm glad the election is over with. This has been one of the most stressful elections I've ever seen. I'm sure it will be historic when we all get to look back at it. This election has really split allot of my friends and family. In the past, everyone seemed to have just got over it. But this time is different, or it just needs a little time for things to cool down.
But I was thinking the other day, "I don't think Trump is a Republican..?" Wasn't he sort of like Bernie Sanders, an independent running under another ticket... I remember an interview with Jesse Ventura, where he said when he was elected Governor of Minnesota, Trump went to congratulate him, and then asked him how a 3rd party could be elected as president...? I believe the idea was to do what Bernie did. Get a major party to sponsor you...
Well, I'm going back to bed.... I have to get my sleep so I can babysit the grandkids later...! bye.
-
Morning, all. Happy Veteran's Day to any vets out there.

Did I mention I loves me some Thanksgiving? We were invited to my brother's but declined on account of not leaving the 80+ year old inlaws by themselves. They were invited too but they're stuck in their ways and don't want to leave the house. The food will be good regardless and then we'll go to my brother's for dessert.

Today is Friday, Nov. 11, the 316th day of 2016. There are 50 days left in the year. This is Veterans Day in the U.S., Remembrance Day in Canada.
Today's Highlight in History:
On Nov. 11, 1918, fighting in World War I ended as the Allies and Germany signed an armistice in the Forest of Compiegne (kohm-PYEHN'-yeh).
On this date:
In 1620, 41 Pilgrims aboard the Mayflower, anchored off Massachusetts, signed a compact calling for a "body politick."
In 1778, British redcoats, Tory rangers and Seneca Indians in central New York killed more than 40 people in the Cherry Valley Massacre.
In 1831, former slave Nat Turner, who'd led a violent insurrection, was executed in Jerusalem, Virginia.
In 1889, Washington became the 42nd state.
In 1916, "Mountain Interval," a collection of Robert Frost poems, including "The Road Not Taken" and "Out, Out" was published by Henry Holt and Co.
In 1921, the remains of an unidentified American service member were interred in a Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery in a ceremony presided over by President Warren G. Harding.
In 1938, Irish-born cook Mary Mallon, who'd gained notoriety as the disease-carrying "Typhoid Mary" blamed for the deaths of three people, died on North Brother Island in New York's East River at age 69 after 23 years of mandatory quarantine.
In 1942, during World War II, Germany completed its occupation of France.
In 1966, Gemini 12 blasted off on a four-day mission with astronauts James A. Lovell and Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin Jr. aboard; it was the tenth and final flight of NASA's Gemini program.
In 1972, the U.S. Army turned over its base at Long Binh to the South Vietnamese, symbolizing the end of direct U.S. military involvement in the Vietnam War.
In 1983, President Ronald Reagan became the first U.S. chief executive to address the Diet, Japan's national legislature.
In 1996, Phan Thi Kim Phuc (fahn thee kihm fook), who as a 9-year-old girl was captured in a famous Associated Press photograph running naked and severely burned down a Vietnamese highway while fleeing a napalm attack, laid a wreath at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington.
Ten years ago: President George W. Bush marked Veterans Day at Arlington National Cemetery by praising U.S. troops who had fought oppression around the world, yet spoke only briefly about Iraq, where U.S. commanders were re-evaluating strategy. The United States vetoed a U.N. Security Council draft resolution seeking to condemn an Israeli military offensive in the Gaza Strip.
Five years ago: Heralding the end of one war and the drawdown of another, President Barack Obama observed Veterans Day at Arlington National Cemetery by urging Americans to hire the thousands of servicemen and women coming home from Iraq and Afghanistan. In the evening, President Obama and his wife, Michelle, watched from midcourt as No. 1 North Carolina beat Michigan State 67-55 in the Carrier Classic on the flight deck of the USS Carl Vinson, anchored off the coast of San Diego. A gunman armed with an assault rifle fired a series of shots at the White House from long range (Oscar Ramiro Ortega-Hernandez from Idaho was sentenced to 25 years in prison under a plea bargain with prosecutors.)
One year ago: The world's two biggest beer makers, AB InBev and SABMiller, announced they would join forces in a $107 billion merger to create a company that would produce almost a third of the world's beer. Phil Taylor, 61, a former drummer with the heavy metal band Motorhead nicknamed "Philthy Animal," died in London.

Thought for Today: "Old myths, old gods, old heroes have never died. They are only sleeping at the bottom of our mind, waiting for our call. We have need for them. They represent the wisdom of our race." - Stanley Kunitz, American poet laureate (1905-2006).

Isn't it time for him to start requesting some deployments in say, Germany, Japan, Hawaii?

Off on a couple of appointments, TGIF baby!
As long as it's not to a bank, post office, school, or other gubmint agency, you should be good to go.
Nope, Dr. appts, but I will sneak in a trip to the liquor store as well.

Hazzuh!

Have a good one Dave. You working tomorrow?

Flipping through the radio dial on the way home and hear this song about not taking "NO" for an answer, slipping something into a ladys drink, smoking and drinking....thought it might be a Trump policy statement, but no, just a Christmas song.... ::)

Did I mention earlier that today is also Saint Martin day in Italy and it is customary to make these little fried calzones (more like an empanada filled with mozzarella and tomatoes), called fritelle [free-tell-leh]? I usually try to make them every year for my daughter Martina.

Good morning and thank you to any veterans that might be on here today.
You're welcome.
Like father, like son, like grandson. Capitan Morton currently serving in Afghanistan for his third tour. Christmas in Kabul!
Bring them home.

Love that tune but it is pretty creepy. I'm more concerned that you're listening to Christmas music on November 11th. WTF?

He can request all he wants but he serves at the discretion of the US Army. He's been training, attending schools, getting ready for deployments, deploying, recovering from deployments - you get the picture.

If schools had not quit teaching American History in its factual form the dumbass snowflakes would know it was established in Article II Section I of the Constitution and a petition will not change it. It was done for several reasons with one being to protect States Rights.

Cut and pasted from the email...
Amend the Constitution to abolish the Electoral College and hold presidential elections based on popular vote. One vote for one person should determine the one leader who is supposed to answer to all the people of the country.
The Electoral College has outlasted its usefulness.
Voters living in a "red" or "blue" state but voting unlike the majority in that state are disenfranchised, because their vote doesn't count. Eliminating the Electoral College will mean that "swing" states will no longer receive all the attention and the campaign stops and the empty campaign promises.
Also, the electors are selected by the two main political parties, Republican and Democrat, disenfranchising all other voters, including independents, Libertarians, and Green Party members.
End the Electoral College now.
