It's Tuesday again! In between insults we'll occasionally discuss cigars.  Join in and perhaps learn something along the way. Warning: don't proceed if you have thin skin but don't be afraid to post either... And welcome aboard!

Today is Tuesday, Sept. 27, the 271st day of 2016. There are 95 days left in the year.

Today's Highlight in History:

On Sept. 27, 1964, the government publicly released the report of the Warren Commission, which concluded that Lee Harvey Oswald had acted alone in assassinating President John F. Kennedy.

On this date:

In 1540, Pope Paul III issued a papal bull establishing the Society of Jesus, or Jesuits, as a religious order.

In 1779, John Adams was named by Congress to negotiate the Revolutionary War's peace terms with Britain.

In 1854, the first great disaster involving an Atlantic Ocean passenger vessel occurred when the steamship SS Arctic sank off Newfoundland; of the more than 400 people on board, only 86 survived.

In 1928, the United States said it was recognizing the Nationalist Chinese government.

In 1939, Warsaw, Poland, surrendered after weeks of resistance to invading forces from Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union during World War II.

In 1941, the United States launched the first 14 rapidly built "Liberty" military cargo vessels.

In 1956, Olympic track and field gold medalist and Hall of Fame golfer Babe Didrikson Zaharias died in Galveston, Texas, at age 45.

In 1962, "Silent Spring," Rachel Carson's study on the effects of pesticides on the environment, was published in book form by Houghton Mifflin.

In 1979, Congress gave its final approval to forming the U.S. Department of Education.

In 1989, Columbia Pictures Entertainment Inc. agreed to a $3.4 billion cash buyout by Sony Corp.

In 1991, President George H.W. Bush announced in a nationally broadcast address that he was eliminating all U.S. battlefield nuclear weapons, and called on the Soviet Union to match the gesture. The Senate Judiciary Committee deadlocked, 7-7, on the nomination of Clarence Thomas to the U.S. Supreme Court.

In 2001, an armed man went on a shooting rampage in the local parliament of Zug, Switzerland, killing 14 people before taking his own life. President George W. Bush asked the nation's governors to post National Guard troops at airports as a first step toward federal control of airline security.

Ten years ago: President George W. Bush hosted a peacemaking dinner at the White House for the bickering leaders of Pakistan and Afghanistan, Gen. Pervez Musharraf (pur-VEHZ' moo-SHAH'-ruhv) and Hamid Karzai (HAH'-mihd KAHR'-zeye). Republicans announced they would hold their 2008 presidential convention in the Twin Cities of Minneapolis-St. Paul. A gunman took six girls hostage at a high school in Bailey, Colorado; he molested some of them and killed one girl before committing suicide.

Five years ago: Opening statements in the Los Angeles trial of Michael Jackson's personal physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, took place as prosecutors accused Murray of killing the superstar through irresponsible use of the anesthetic propofol, and the defense maintaining Jackson had caused his own death. (Murray was later convicted of felony involuntary manslaughter.) Israel gave the go-ahead for construction of 1,100 new Jewish housing units in east Jerusalem; the announcement met with swift criticism from the United States and the European Union.

One year ago: President Barack Obama committed the U.S. to a new blueprint to eliminate poverty and hunger around the world as he addressed a global summit at the United Nations. Pope Francis urged hundreds of thousands of faithful gathered in Philadelphia for the biggest event of his U.S. visit to be open to the "miracles of love," closing out a six-day trip with a message of hope for families and consolation for victims of child sexual abuse.

Rick Perry powers through injury on ‘Dancing With the Stars’

We’ll find out Tuesday whether enough viewers voted to keep Rick Perry in the mirrorball race after an epic Texas showdown and tie broken only by a head judge’s vote.

Monday’s live “Dancing With the Stars” competition show, truncated by the first presidential debate, was an entertaining and fast-paced hour in which couples were pitted against each other. Instant judges’ scores gave immunity to winning pairs and left the losers at the mercy of the audience.

Interesting review of the Tat Drac Line at Halfwheel today.  Since I smoked a Skinny Drac on Saturday the smoke is fresh on my mind.  They left out the absolute biggest issue with the cigar - smoked it while watching LSU and it was obviously an unlucky cigar as was  the first one of the football season, Frank.

Anyway, based on my smoke Saturday they are mostly full of shit.  The burn was very good (two minor touchups) and the draw was about perfect.  As to flavor I certainly would not call it dull while it may not fit everyone's favorite profile.  For me it had numerous changes along the way and strangely at one point it had a sudden burst of some kind of herb type flavor that lasted about 3 puffs.  A little earthy but nothing as described by halfwheel and no manure either.

The construction was great and it is a very nice looking cigar with a dark oily wrapper.

I question what is Halfwheel's issue with this line of cigars as from the two I have smoked their reviews are less than accurate.  How the F can one Lonsdale size cigar have 7 or 8 unique flavors  most of them "bad", as they have described.

Just MFHO

Just MFHO
Like most things, personal opinion.  Didn't stop me from getting a box, although didn't get multiple boxes like I have in the past.
Beyond that, I don't know.  They have generally been favorable to Tat's (and specifically the Monster series) in the past and overall have expressed a favorable opinion of lonsdales

September 27 is … Crush A Can Day
Also Chocolate Milk Day and Corned Beef Hash Day (been a while since I've had that tasty breakfast treat!)
Add Tourist Day and Ancester Appreciation Day also
While we're at it, National Woman Road Warrior and Voter Registration Day  (both are fourth Tuesday in September)
No Foods being celebrated today guess Tony can stay in the bed. ;D
And he did.

Feels like the dead of winter here this morning @ 66 degrees.
Had to turn the heat on in the car this morning for a bit. Fall has finally arrived. Morning, all.
Puss. "No jacket until November" is my motto.

Picked up a box of La Colmena 44's on the Famous Bid last night.
Nice.  Decent price?
$91, morning NiceDave. Just about noon there?
Morning Fishy...6 hours ahead, so 1:00 now.
Nice price on the L Colmena 44's....about 10 dollars less that I can get....but of course I get free shipping.
I still saved $ and I did not have to pay an annual fee to buy them for that price either.
Depending on when you're shipping Tex:

http://www.cigarauctioneer.com/brand/room+101+serie+hn+cigars
Also, box of Warped Futuro's for $116....price I would look at is $166.....

Worth the wait.  As you suggest, that is one that is better smoked without distractions.

Do you have a real cowboy coffee pot?

Another valid option is a "pour through" maker assuming you have some propane type device when the power is out.

Asshole Police Chief is the former head of the California State Police Motorcycle Unit and when he came here  Austin went from about 10 motorcycles to around 100 and they are all shiny and new all the time.

This makes the 3rd motorcycle cop wreck in less than a month, one was killed and another seriously injured but this one looks to be ok.

BRONX -- A New York fire department battalion chief was killed in an explosion early Tuesday morning while checking a gas leak at an alleged drug lab operating out of a home in the Bronx, according to reports.

Firefighters were called to the 300 block of W. 234 St. in the Bronx on a report of a gas leak, DNAinfo reported. The FDNY crew found what appeared to be a marijuana grow with propane tanks, sources told DNAinfo.

As firefighters and police were investigating, police told ABC7NY the house exploded and Battalion Chief Michael Fahey was struck by debris while he was evacuating the home.

Holts or BestCigarPrices has your sticks, but I'm not sure how the prices measure up...

Holts has free shipping @$150 and BCP has some items with free ship, and if you do the survey, it's worth 10%... that's about all they offer other than the Flash/clearance stuff.

Dean,

We apologize you were unable to include the promotional code in the checkout. This could be because of the items being purchased. We wish that we could provide the deal on all brands, however the manufacturers of particular brands made a business decision to subscribe to the Minimum Advertised Pricing (MAP) structure. No authorized seller may advertise prices lower than what their MAP structure dictates. If we extended the deal to these products, it would be a violation of our contract with them.

Below is the web address to our exclusions list. Please copy and paste it into your browser to view it. While it may seem like a long list of products, we carry hundreds of blends that are eligible for the discount.

No way to tell for certain.  Depends how you define "Fuck Up."

Hillary's stated plans will fuck up the country.  Most of Donald Trump's stated plans won't.  Trump may be a moron and he may be untrustworthy, but that means flip a coin whether he fucks it up or doesn't.  But with Hillary, there's no coin flipping.  She's going to try and fuck it up.

Jill Stein and Gary Johnson are Hillary.

But if your vision of a great America is a massive welfare state, taxation to 40% of GDP, and the government telling you how to run your business AND your family, while prosecuting you for defending yourself from violent crime, your opinion will differ from mine.

Sure there is.  What you meant was there is no appealing choice.  Again, it comes back to how you define a great America.  If you think the government will make America great by taking more of your paycheck to distribute to other people, without regard of the sacrifices and risks you've taken to earn it and without regard whether the recipients contributed anything to deserve it, then Hillary is a "good" choice.  If you think that increasing taxation of the rich will balance the budget without the government having to go into your wallet, then Hillary is a "good" choice.  If you think that pouring billions more dollars into a public education system that is controlled by the country's most powerful union and absolutely opposed to teacher accountability will make your kids better educated, then Hillary is a "good" choice.  If you think semiautomatic rifles with detachable magazines should be banned from civilian ownership, then Hillary is a "good" choice. If you think cigars should be regulated like a narcotic and you should pay a penalty to smoke them, then Hillary is a "good" choice.

If however, you think the country would be a whole lot better if the government got out of your wallet, your ass, and your humidor, learned to live within its means, and focused on its real responsibilities, then Trump is a "good" choice.  Will Trump accomplish all this?  No.  If Reagan couldn't, then Trump sure as hell can't.  Will Trump sell these ideals out?  Flip a coin.  Maybe yes, maybe no.  We don't know what Trump will do.  He's an unpredictable egomaniac who says whatever's good for him at any given moment.

But Trump at least gives lip service to the ideals I embrace.  Hillary espouses ideals I reject, and she has a long track record of supporting ideals I reject.  So, given the choices there, Trump is the "good" choice.

It may not be an appealing choice.  But it's a good choice.

That is the question on every thinking American's mind.  Raz's analysis is correct.  I am a libertarian but can't vote for Johnson/Weld with their history.  Guess I'll vote for Trump and hope he surrounds himself with smart people and listens to them.
It is far beyond me how any person outside of an asylum can have difficulty with a straight forward decision so I will put the choices in terms you hard dicks can easily comprehend.

Which First Lady do you want to see in the White House and on TV for the next 4 years?

The first one or the second one?  The choice is all yours.

As useful a crux as any other.

Painters finished and gone, looks really good now.
Are your painters interested in running for public office?

That's so scary to me. Unfortunately, there is no good choice.

Sorry bud, I'm still undecided. Trump could have just as easily ran as a Democrat. I'm not convinced there's a real difference in their policies. If he really was in it for the public service and not his ego perhaps he would have tried a lower office first. If he manages the country the way he does his personal life and businesses, I'm not interested.

Sure, Trump could have run as a Democrat.  But he didn't.  Hillary could have run as a Republican.  So could have Obama.  But they didn't.  Which doesn't ultimately mean all that much.

You underestimate the value of political power - which is having a bunch of people behind you that sway others to your side, or offset the power of your opposition.  Reagan accomplished what he accomplished because he swayed a lot of Democrats to support him.

Whatever Trump's politics in the past, he solicited the NRA.  He solicited the Fraternal Order of Police.  What he's going to be able to do and not do is going to be limited by the entities embodying the power he's appropriated.  Since he has obtained power from conservative organizations, he is bound to them.  He can betray them, sure...but not completely.  To do so would turn him into Jimmy Carter or George HW Bush.  Your power base turns on you, and the opposition has more to gain from your destruction than your cooperation, so...you're fuk'd.

So, the likelihood of Trump betraying the core ideals upon which I'll give him my vote are slim. Ish.  Certainly it's less likely that he'll betray those ideals than it is Hillary will betray hers.  And hers are a recipe for disaster.

So I added some H.E. Lonsdales from the jam to my cart to see if I could get a code to work, when I went to check out they offered me (10) Room 101 San Andres Coronas for $24.99, great deal on a cigar that's never around anymore. Tried to find them in the regular listing but they're out of stock. I'm buying them

after listening to Hillary and Donald I may have to vote LIBERTARIAN.
Naw, they nominated an asshat too.
Who's gonna fuck up the county the least?
That is the question on every thinking American's mind.  Raz's analysis is correct.  I am a libertarian but can't vote for Johnson/Weld with their history.  Guess I'll vote for Trump and hope he surrounds himself with smart people and listens to them.
That's so scary to me. Unfortunately, there is no good choice.

I'm at the end of my night out, just finished my MoW Skull Crusher & DeSchuttes Fresh Squeezed IPA & decided to check in and see how everyone's doing & saw this discussion ... I listened to the debate via my phone while watching the Nats get crushed by Diamondbacks ... Hilary is an accomplished debater but Benghazi & her private e-mail server to cover up her using her position as Secretary of State to build up her Clinton Foundation in pay for play deals are too hard for me to swallow.  Trump, at least has promised to multiple groups to nominate Contitutional conservatives to the Supreme Court is compelling for me.  Following the Constitution has served us well so far, amending it when it becomes essential to be faithful to its principles.  The list of candidates which he & his people have produced has
brought solid approval from those that he has sought approval from.  I believe in the Constitution and the freedoms it was created to protect & preserve (life, liberty & the pursuit of happiness as stated in the Declaration of Independence.) I think the direction that the current administration which Clinton has promised to continue directly contradict the Foundation and core of what this country was founded on and for.
