I luv those Jericho Hills but I have been underwhelmed by the La Imperiosa's.  The vitolas are pretty nice for a sampler.

I agree on the vitolas. The price doesn't even sound too high. Then again, perhaps I'm getting accustomed to the new inflated prices.

Price is good for a MSRP just a matter of what will the deals be.

Under $35 would be good for a deal these days.

Today is Saturday, June 4, the 156th day of 2016. There are 210 days left in the year.

Today's Highlight in History:

On June 4, 1986, Jonathan Jay Pollard, a former U.S. Navy intelligence analyst, pleaded guilty in Washington to conspiring to deliver information related to the national defense to Israel. (Pollard, sentenced to life in prison, was released on parole on Nov. 20, 2015.)

On this date:

In 1783, the Montgolfier brothers first publicly demonstrated their hot-air balloon, which did not carry any passengers, over Annonay, France.

In 1784, opera singer Elisabeth Thible became the first woman to make a non-tethered flight aboard a Montgolfier hot-air balloon, over Lyon, France.

In 1892, the Sierra Club was incorporated in San Francisco.

In 1919, Congress approved the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, guaranteeing citizens the right to vote regardless of their gender, and sent it to the states for ratification.

In 1939, the German ocean liner MS St. Louis, carrying more than 900 Jewish refugees from Germany, was turned away from the Florida coast by U.S. officials.

In 1940, during World War II, the Allied military evacuation of some 338,000 troops from Dunkirk, France, ended. British Prime Minister Winston Churchill declared: "We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender."

In 1942, the World War II Battle of Midway began, resulting in a decisive American victory against Japan and marking the turning point of the war in the Pacific.

In 1944, U-505, a German submarine, was captured by a U.S. Navy task group in the south Atlantic; it was the first such capture of an enemy vessel at sea by the U.S. Navy since the War of 1812. The U.S. Fifth Army began liberating Rome.

In 1954, French Premier Joseph Laniel and Vietnamese Premier Buu Loc signed treaties in Paris according "complete independence" to Vietnam.

In 1972, a jury in San Jose, California, acquitted radical activist Angela Davis of murder and kidnapping for her alleged connection to a deadly courthouse shootout in Marin County in 1970.

In 1990, Dr. Jack Kevorkian carried out his first publicly assisted suicide, helping Janet Adkins, a 54-year-old Alzheimer's patient from Portland, Oregon, end her life in Oakland County, Michigan.

In 1998, a federal judge sentenced Terry Nichols to life in prison for his role in the 1995 bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City.

Ten years ago: Peru's former president, Alan Garcia, won the country's presidential runoff election. A Palestinian standoff intensified after Hamas rejected an ultimatum from President Mahmoud Abbas (mahk-MOOD' ah-BAHS') to endorse a plan implicitly recognizing Israel.

Five years ago: China's Li Na captured her first Grand Slam singles title, becoming the first tennis player from China, man or woman, to achieve such a feat; Na beat Francesca Schiavone 6-4, 7-6 (0) in the French Open final. Former Secretary of State Lawrence Eagleburger, 80, died in Charlottesville, Virginia.

One year ago: The Department of Homeland Security announced that hackers had broken into the U.S. government personnel office and stolen identifying information of at least 4 million federal workers. (The breach was later said to have totaled 21.5 million current and former federal employees and job applicants; Chinese hackers were suspected of being behind the cyberattack.) Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry opened his second bid for the Republican presidential nomination. A huge explosion at a gas station in Ghana's capital of Accra left at least 160 people dead.

Thought for Today: "If America forgets where she came from, if the people lose sight of what brought them along, if she listens to the deniers and mockers, then will begin the rot and dissolution." - Carl Sandburg, American writer (1878-1967).

I know Mamas and Papas but do not know any persons name.  Once back around 1977 had a neighbor that played in that band early on but no idea what his name was now.

I missed Jolie's name but fuk that communist bitch I don't recognize her as anybody.

I have no use for 99.999% of Hollywood types and make it a point to not know who they are.

Pretty difficult (or sad) for a regional host to lose a first game the way things are set up. There was a load of 12+ run games yesterday but I do believe Clemson was the only 20+ game.  Competition begins at the Super Regionals.

Most interesting story in NCAA Baseball is the demise of the PAC 10.  Utah won the regular season championship and they did not even have an overall winning record.

Another little trivia note on the west:  Texas Tech is the furthest west host location in the regionals.

Clemson won the first NCAA baseball playoff game 24-10 over Western Carolina.  Looks like they're still playing football.
Yep, still kicking ass on small programs. ;D.
It's the tournament, they play who they are assigned.  Oklahoma up tonight.  Nebraska plays Western Carolina in the losers bracket.
Pretty difficult (or sad) for a regional host to lose a first game the way things are set up. There was a load of 12+ run games yesterday but I do believe Clemson was the only 20+ game.  Competition begins at the Super Regionals.
South Carolina lost to Rhode Island!

Well worth it. I replaced the screen on the iPhone 5 I'm using now and I wouldn't do it again. Wound up costing me more too because I bought the first replacement from a bad source and it didn't work. #LiveAndLearn

The second tropical storm in about a week may be threatening Florida by Monday if conditions keep deteriorating in the western Caribbean Sea.

An area of rain and thunderstorms now drifting toward Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula has a 60 percent chance of becoming a tropical system in the next five days, according to the U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami.

“We think there is a high chance for tropical development and a decent chance of a tropical depression and even a tropical storm moving into central Florida Monday afternoon or Monday night,” said Ken Clark, a meteorologist with AccuWeather Inc. in State College, Pennsylvania.

If it reaches tropical storm strength with winds of 39 miles (63 kilometers) per hour, it would be named Colin.

I have got some wayfarers even older than that and wear them when driving, great sun glasses.  They are not polarized and much better for seeing through tinted glass.

I also have some very light weight Maui Jims for the outdoors but for fishing in the flats the Amber/Bronze lenses are far superior and that is what I bought.  They were $239 retail which is about the middle of Maui Jim pricing but got them online for $197 no tax and no shipping.

Not much different in the Wayfarers but new Maui Jim glass lenses are a lot better optically and more durable.  Thinner and lighter too.

New Maui's are lighter than the older ones, similar to wayfarers I think.  My light weight Maui's are "frameless" they call them and extremely light but fragile.  That Said mine were about 5 years old and I sent them back and they put new "frames" on them free, great warranty.

Son gave me some new Maui Jim Fishing Sunglasses (in gift card form so I could pick out the ones I wanted) for my birthday and I just ordered those.
Nice. When's your birthday?
Last Wednesday
Belated happy birthday, Dave. That was the reason for the extra day off?
Yeah, took off for my birthday for some peace and quiet.

/I have  Maui Jims my bride gave me in 98 , don't laugh ,  the lens are glass and scratch or chip very easily, they were almost 200.00! bucks back then,But my favorite are Rayban wayfarer I have had since  2000,Yes I am prone to getting the good out of stuff
I used to own Wayfarers. Wonder whatever happened to those. I find that the older I get, the less I can tolerate wearing them. So I squint, instead. ☀️

I had some good fried shrimp for lunch so not much dinner needed tonight, leftover pizza sounds about right.

Afternoon Short Stack

I have got some wayfarers even older than that and wear them when driving, great sun glasses.  They are not polarized and much better for seeing through tinted glass.

I also have some very light weight Maui Jims for the outdoors but for fishing in the flats the Amber/Bronze lenses are far superior and that is what I bought.  They were $239 retail which is about the middle of Maui Jim pricing but got them online for $197 no tax and no shipping.

Not much different in the Wayfarers but new Maui Jim glass lenses are a lot better optically and more durable.  Thinner and lighter too.
Have a nice pair of Ray Bans that I keep in the car then a pair of Oakley (bifocals.... ::)) that I wear daily.

C'mon, CB, it's just you and me at this point.  TexDave is in bed getting some entirely futile beauty sleep, NJDave is out screwing a couple of South American flight attendants, and the rest of the daves have abandoned their posts, as they are want to do during non-working hours.  Fk'ers.

Did you know it gets dark after "sundown" and progressively lighter out after "sunrise".   That's a predictable but still cool natural phenomenon.  Makes one wonder what the "last day" will be like. No sunrise, or no sunset?  Keeps me awake at night.
