Morning, Scott. Had our warmest day yet yesterday, bit of rain moving in today, with a chance staying around all weekend, naturally.

Actually passed on a cigar last night because it was a bit too warm and stuffy in the garage.

Today is Thursday, May 26, the 147th day of 2016. There are 219 days left in the year.

Today's Highlight in History:

On May 26, 1521, Martin Luther was banned by the Edict of Worms (vohrms) because of his religious beliefs and writings.

On this date:

In 1868, the impeachment trial of President Andrew Johnson ended with his acquittal on the remaining charges.

In 1913, Actors' Equity Association was organized by a group of actors at the Pabst Grand Circle Hotel in New York.

In 1938, the House Un-American Activities Committee was established by Congress.

In 1940, Operation Dynamo, the evacuation of some 338,000 Allied troops from Dunkirk, France, began during World War II.

In 1941, the American Flag House, where Betsy Ross once lived, was donated to the city of Philadelphia.

In 1954, explosions rocked the aircraft carrier USS Bennington off Rhode Island, killing 103 sailors. (The initial blast was blamed on leaking catapult fluid ignited by the flames of a jet.)

In 1960, U.N. Ambassador Henry Cabot Lodge accused the Soviets during a meeting of the Security Council of hiding a microphone inside a wood carving of the Great Seal of the United States that had been presented to the U.S. Embassy in Moscow.

In 1969, the Apollo 10 astronauts returned to Earth after a successful eight-day dress rehearsal for the first manned moon landing.

In 1971, Don McLean recorded his song "American Pie" at The Record Plant in New York City (it was released the following November by United Artists Records).

In 1972, President Richard M. Nixon and Soviet leader Leonid Brezhnev signed the Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty in Moscow. (The U.S. withdrew from the treaty in 2002.)

In 1981, 14 people were killed when a Marine jet crashed onto the flight deck of the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz off Florida.

In 1991, a Lauda Air Boeing 767 crashed in Thailand, killing all 223 people aboard.

Ten years ago: Air Force Gen. Michael Hayden won confirmation to be the 20th CIA director in a 78-15 Senate vote.

Five years ago: Congress passed a four-year extension of post-Sept. 11 powers contained in the Patriot Act to search records and conduct roving wiretaps in pursuit of terrorists; President Barack Obama, in France, signed the measure using an autopen machine minutes before the provisions were set to expire at midnight. Ratko Mladic (RAHT'-koh MLAH'-dich), the brutal Bosnian Serb general suspected of leading the massacre of 8,000 Muslim men and boys, was arrested after a 16-year manhunt. (Mladic was extradited to face trial in The Hague, Netherlands.)

One year ago: Challenging Hillary Rodham Clinton from the left, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders formally kicked off his Democratic presidential bid in Burlington, Vermont, with a pitch to liberals to join him in a "political revolution" to transform the nation's economy and politics.

FDA Clarifies Free Sample Provision, “Buy 2, Get 1 Free” Allowed

During a webinar hosted by four officials from the Food & Drug Administration (FDA)’s Center for Tobacco Products (CTP), representatives from the agency clarified one of the largest questions consumers have regarding FDA’s upcoming regulation of premium cigars. When the agency announced the regulations earlier this month, it included a provision banning free samples of tobacco products, including cigars. Many questioned whether this would change the common practice of retailers or manufacturers providing additional cigars for free as part of a purchase, such as buy five cigars, get one free, etc. Turns out, the agency believes that would be permitted. Ele Ibarra-Pratt, division leader for CTP’s Division of Promotion, Advertising & Labeling, was asked, “Now what about promotions such as buy two, get one free?” “They are not banned by the prohibition on samples,” she replied. A follow-up question submitted by halfwheel seeking clarification on this was not answered, nor did the panel return to the topic, though it appears that this concern of the cigar industry may have been alleviated.

it goes to $5.77 a lb.  when the daughter borrows the car, she doesn't seem to know how to

Cascades, and just east enough to be on the Columbia River. Desert Aire, WA if you care to look it up. Brother has a lot there, just big enough to pack 5 RV's on. My clan has a rep for putting on a pretty good party, so this year 31 people are showing up. Gonna be a zoo.

True, but before yesterday the $23 was a great price when using the code with it.

Crooks probably never considered we would figure out to use the old catsrule with them and get the price down to the $15.75 range.

That time of the year again, hurricane season begins June 1!

Hurricane Hunters to investigate tropical low near Florida

Rain chances increase in Orlando over weekend

The National Hurricane Center said conditions are expected to gradually become more conducive, saying there's a 70 percent chance of potential development within the next 5 days. If it becomes a named storm, it will be called Bonnie.

Computer models show the system tracking to the northwest. Most models take the area of low pressure into the Carolinas sometime Saturday or Sunday.

Hurricane Hunters will investigate the disturbance on Friday, and weather officials said residents along the Southeast seaboard should keep an on the system.

Airport screening delays have caused more than 70,000 American Airlines (AAL.O) customers and 40,000 checked bags to miss their flights this year, an executive for the airline told a U.S. congressional subcommittee on Thursday.

A shortage of staff and a surge in air travelers have created a nightmare scenario for the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA), with airport wait times in places like Chicago stretching beyond two hours.

Baylor suspended football coach Art Briles "with intent to terminate" on Thursday morning in response to the sexual assault scandal rocking the program.

ESPN says the players were notified Thursday morning by a text message from Briles. At about 10:20 a.m., several players took to Twitter to voice their displeasure.

Baylor released a statement Thursday announcing the Briles move, along with several other decisions. Baylor will remove Kenneth Starr as university president and transition him to chancellor. Athletic director Ian McCaw has been sanctioned and placed on probation. David Garland will be Baylor's interim president

BrickHouse robust and orange Crush.
thank you for reminding me, my 18 year old daughter, borrowed my car this morning
to get to work(she is exempt from her finals, her grades were so good, she has three days off instead!).
she told me to remember to take a cigar home, since i have to hang at the American Legion, since she
is working noon to 9pm today.  Gurkha Centurian and maybe a CLE Corojo.

I'm back! hit 3 islands we hadn't explored yet. one of them a couplecof guys were setting up camp on, said they've been doing it for 21 years. saw one Blackass Moccasin sunning himself on a rock. I slowly backed away.
You should have grabbed him right behind the head and showed him who was boss. ;D

Those blackass ones are pretty rare.
he was about 5' long, I wasn't going to fuck with him.
I would not fuk with him if he was one foot long.
smart man.
I grew up on a bayou in Louisiana, have seen enough water moccasins in my life to fill an 18 wheeler.  I have seen a couple of those guys grab them and kill their ass right there though, I am more partial to a shotgun myself.
in my opinion a shotgun works best. I don't trust them, have seen them get aggressive in NY.

BrickHouse robust and orange Crush.
Now that is a new combination you have thrown out there.  Good to see you are diversifying some.

Been a long time since I had an Orange Crush.

That would make sense.   Unlike most folks I am not a big fan of the Brickhouse line.

Sheesh, has everyone already hit the road for the Holiday?
Some of us have to get to the end of the week before we can count our timecard done!  8)
That must suck!  But some of us have put in 40 years so we don't have to do that anymore.
Fair enough, I haven't even put in 40 years of life yet. ;)
Oh my God. LTG is just a puppy too? Sheesh.

I turned 51 at 4:56 this morning.
Happy Fuk'n Birthday, did not realize it was your birthday.   Mine is next week but I will not be 50 anything!

I wonder if Ken Starr will investigate himself.
