Sopranos' Star James Gandolfini's Rolex Stolen by Paramedic:

ROME — A paramedic who rushed James Gandolfini to hospital after the actor suffered a massive heart attack has been accused of being nearly as ruthless as Tony Soprano.

Claudio Bevilacqua, 43, went on trial on Monday for allegedly snatching "The Sopranos" star's $3000 Rolex Submariner watch as he laid dying in June 2013.

Today is Wednesday, May 18, the 139th day of 2016. There are 227 days left in the year.

Today's Highlight in History:

On May 18, 1926, evangelist Aimee Semple McPherson vanished while visiting a beach in Venice, California. (McPherson reappeared more than a month later, saying she'd escaped after being kidnapped and held for ransom, an account that was received with skepticism.)

On this date:

In 1642, the Canadian city of Montreal was founded by French colonists.

In 1765, about one-fourth of Montreal was destroyed by a fire.

In 1896, the Supreme Court, in Plessy v. Ferguson, endorsed "separate but equal" racial segregation, a concept renounced 58 years later in Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka.

In 1910, Halley's Comet passed by earth, brushing it with its tail.

In 1933, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed a measure creating the Tennessee Valley Authority.

In 1934, Congress approved, and President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed, the so-called "Lindbergh Act," providing for the death penalty in cases of interstate kidnapping.

In 1944, during World War II, Allied forces finally occupied Monte Cassino in Italy after a four-month struggle with Axis troops.

In 1953, Jacqueline Cochran became the first woman to break the sound barrier as she piloted a Canadair F-86 Sabre jet over Rogers Dry Lake, California.

In 1969, astronauts Eugene A. Cernan, Thomas P. Stafford and John W. Young blasted off aboard Apollo 10 on a mission to orbit the moon.

In 1973, Harvard law professor Archibald Cox was appointed Watergate special prosecutor by U.S. Attorney General Elliot Richardson.

In 1980, the Mount St. Helens volcano in Washington state exploded, leaving 57 people dead or missing.

In 1991, Helen Sharman became the first Briton to rocket into space as she flew aboard a Soviet Soyuz spacecraft with two cosmonauts on an eight-day mission to the Mir space station.

Ten years ago: Visiting one of the busiest crossing sectors between the U.S. and Mexico, President George W. Bush said in Yuma, Arizona, that it made sense to put up fencing along parts of the border but not to block off the entire 2,000-mile length to keep immigrants from entering the U.S. illegally. Prisoners with makeshift weapons battled guards trying to save a detainee pretending to commit suicide at the U.S. prison in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, in what military officials said was a coordinated attack that left six prisoners injured.

Five years ago: Dominique Strauss-Kahn, the managing director of the International Monetary Fund, resigned, saying he wanted to devote all his energy to battling the sexual assault charges he faced in New York. (The charges were later dropped.) The United States slapped sanctions on Syrian President Bashar Assad and six others for human rights abuses over their brutal crackdown on anti-government protests, for the first time personally penalizing the Syrian leader for the actions of his security forces.

One year ago: President Barack Obama ended long-running federal transfers of some combat-style gear to local law enforcement in an attempt to ease tensions between police and minority communities, saying equipment made for the battlefield should not be a tool of American criminal justice. An 11-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco said a three-member panel of the same court should not have forced YouTube to take down an anti-Muslim film that sparked violence in the Middle East and death threats to actors.

Yeah, you could be facing some serious humping today.  Might better take some lube to work with you.

But look at the bright side, at least you don't have a new boss visiting you from India to introduce your new replacement from Pakistan for you to train.

Not like Dean to be running late on Golf Wednesday, must have fallen through the incomplete deck repair.
no sleep again last night. been moving rakes, shovels, and wheelbarrow to the lady's place so her and her son can do some clean up.

yes, it's Golf Day! providing the course didn't flood yesterday and closed. we got almost 3" of rain yesterday.

Camacho connie going with my coffee.
I still need to get to Home Depot so I can finish this deck.

when the lady's new house is finished, probably a month or two yet, I have to screen in her back porch, put up her pool, and build a deck from the porch to the pool. with the HUD grant she recieved, any extras are out of pocket expenses. unbelievable what the contractor quoted for the screen porch and deck.

Good morning, gents. My wish for you today is that you will be the humper and not the humpee.
Morning Mayor T, so that means you wish us to hump you? :o
Better you than others. I've got my boss in from Atlanta and his boss visiting from Dallas.
Definitely on pace to be the humpee then, huh?
All the kiss asses who normally telecommute (because the bosses don't know better) are here today too. Hopefully they can take the brunt of it.
Cafeteria gonna be packed at lunch time!
Maybe not. People go out when it's a nice day. All the out-of-towners have expense accounts.
Bring in some extra cigars for the bosses' boss and the bosses' bosses' boss for later?
I wouldn't waste my Puros Indios from CF on these asshats.

Guess this is not Tony & Flips track since it was going to Harlem and not Jersey.

New York City commuters faced crippling long delays, crowded conditions and limited service Wednesday after a raging fire broke out beneath elevated Metro-North train tracks in the city, officials said.

The blaze ignited Tuesday evening at a garden center business underneath Metro-North tracks in East Harlem, halting train service and stranding thousands of commuters at Grand Central Terminal and other points.

Metro-North said two of the four tracks in the area of the fire were operational for Wednesday's morning rush. Trains were slowed from their normal 60 mph to 30 mph as repairs continue.

The fire caused damage to a center column beneath the elevated tracks

Damn good thing none of you bastiges laughed at this.

Veteran San Antonio anchorman Randy Beamer did something unusual on the late TV news Monday night:  He apologized for a silly -- and potentially hurtful -- moment that happened earlier in the day.

Beamer laughed on WOAI's  5 p.m. newscast while reading the story about Thomas Manning, the first man in the United States to get a penis transplant.

"The story had a word in it that a 10-year-old would laugh at," Beamer said during a later broadcast.  He explained that "laughing about this in any way just perpetuates a stigma that these patients should not have to deal with."

His longest apology appeared during his 10 p.m. commentary segment, "San Antonio's Voice," during which Beamer often calls out people for doing dumb things.

This time, he added, it was him who deserved to be called out.

most Metro North lines come into grand Central from upstate NY & Connecticut.  there is one that rides the NJ transit Bergen county line into Hoboken, from Port Jervis, NY.  and we end up in Penn Station, hiding under the new Madison Square Garden, which is round and no longer residing in Madison Square(they tore down Penn Station, and put MSG there), and no longer has any garden qualities.

A technical malfunction at the New York Stock Exchange on Wednesday resulted in the suspension of trading of about 200 securities, a NYSE spokeswoman confirmed to MarketWatch. The glitch occurred soon after the start of trading at 9:30 a.m. E.T. and the NYSE is working to resolve the issue, the spokeswoman said. The malfunction is affecting just about 4% of NYSE-listed securities. Stocks that were suspended on the Big Board are being rerouted to other exchange venues, including NYSE Arca, an NYSE-run trading platform. Fortress Investment Group FIG, +1.03% Agree Realty Corp. ADC, -0.57% Graco Inc. GGG, -0.37% OneMain Holdings Inc. OMF, +2.43% Townsquare Media Inc. TSQ, -0.80% and BlackRock Resources & Commodities Strategies Trust BCX, -1.05% are among the securities suspended on the NYSE. The NYSE spokeswoman said orders related to those impacted securities have been cancelled. The NYSE Group is a unit of Intercontinental Exchange Inc. ICE, +0.34% It isn't exactly clear when the technical snafu will be fixed.

Played Hippie today and had a P.Terry's hamburger for lunch.
Sprouts and guac on that?
No Sir, lettuce, pickles and special sauce.

Burgers are ok but I really go there for the great fries.
what no cheese?   like blue cheese or cheddar and sauteed mushrooms..
I did not go to Dean's Kitchen.
Ah!

People's Republic of New York goes all in on transgender appeasement. New York City businesses will be fined by the City Commission on Human Rights if they don’t use a customer’s “preferred gender pronoun.” And oh, by the way, the number of different pronouns in use by the LGBTQIA community is large. And fluid.
