Sorry for being absent the last several days but it's been a crazy time here.
We did finally get my mom home from the hospital and we are trying to make her as comfortable as we can. On top of my mothers issues, we had to rush my daughter to the same hospital my mother just left only 16 or so hours earlier. She has had stomach problems since Thanksgiving and after many many tests they discovered she had a collapsed colon and several blockages, they have diagnosed her as having Crohn's disease for many years undetected and there is a lot of damage. She will have a 3-5 hour procedure this morning removing many sections of damaged intestine, both small and large but she will have two very good surgeons performing the surgery so we are hopeful.  The poor girl is almost as afraid of the anestesia as she is of knowing she will be stuck with a colostomy bag for a couple of months.
Please keep our family in your prayers for awhile.
I am sorry to keep bringing the banter down with all the bad news but hopefully we will soon have some good news to share.
Thanks for thinking of me.

Chip, we're just glad to hear from you.  Always a challenge to face tough medical issues, but hope that at least identifying the issues and having a plan of treatment will provide the relief we all hope for.  You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

My thoughts are with you and your family today, Chip. Appreciate you stopping by to let us know. Nothing worse than your kid being sick and you feel helpless. You wish you could take on the disease yourself if "they" would just leave your loved one alone. Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way. Praying for a speedy recovery.

A cigar smoker bought several hundred expensive stogies and had them insured against fire. After he'd smoked them all, he filed a claim, pointing out that the cigars had been destroyed by fire. The company refused to pay, and the man sued. A judge ruled that because the insurance company had agreed to insure against fire, it was legally responsible. So the company paid the claim. And when the man accepted the money, the company had him arrested for arson.

I checked on that - they're listed as "collectible consumables" - therefore, as long as I record consumption, I should be fine.

And as for "not being allowed to go to CF" - She suggested that, since I had already put forward the opinion that CF has become too crowded, I should instead go with a friend who own a cigar shop to ICPCR in Vegas for my bachelor party.

I think I like that plan.

Sounds like a good plan to me. We're skipping the fest this year, but still going for the other activities and using the $160 on food, booze and cigars that won't leave us wanting to leave 30% of for the troops.

Glad your Mom is back home, Chip, but very sorry to hear about your daughter. Will be praying for her ... what's her first name and about how old is she (approximate 20's, 30's, 40's?)
Will put her by name on my church's prayer list.

After reading up on the banter and coming across Mark's gem, I was in the process of writing it up last night before you flipped & when I finished, you had flipped and I couldn't post it, so I just made it simple and posted after your opening headline post.  But it was one of those classic posts which just shows what a blast the banter is.  More fun than watching the snow on your busted TV screen.

Time for a MOW Immortal and a Palmetto Ale.  Later.
Nice. No smokes for me today. Took the family for a little weekend getaway in the Poconos. With the wind it was -26° so we'll skip the snow tubing for today.
TWSS - the snow "tubing" that is.
Tube steaking?

Chip
No apologies needed Chip.  Just glad you're able to help out your family when they need you the most.  The banter is always here when you need some name calling and insults to lighten your day.  We're here for you and yours.
Indeed. Evening Mikey.

Yes. That's from an actual post of mine last night while I was shopping for a replacement softener.  I wasn't trying to be funny, but I guess it was.

I knew it was from your post, but it was the manner in which SLY posted it. Like a book or movie review.

If I want that winter fireplace heat, I have to place a space heater at the end of the coffee table, and toss a blanket over the coffee table at the other end, and onto me.  That way the heat blows under the coffee table and into the blanket I'm under.  I guess it's easier to do than explain.. ugh..  :o
