Ten years ago: A suicide bomber struck outside a hospital south of Baghdad while U.S. troops were handing out candy and food to children; the blast killed some 30 people. A giant balloon in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York snagged a street light and caused part of it to fall, injuring a woman and a child. Actor Pat Morita died in Las Vegas at age 73.

Five years ago: A jury in Austin convicted former U.S. House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, R-Texas, on charges he'd illegally funneled corporate money to Texas candidates in 2002. (DeLay's convictions were overturned on appeal.)

One year ago: Under pressure from President Barack Obama, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel submitted his resignation amid White House concerns about his effectiveness and broader criticism from outside about the administration's Middle East crisis management. It was announced that a grand jury in St. Louis County, Missouri, had decided against indicting Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson in the death of Michael Brown; the decision enraged protesters who set fire to buildings and cars and looted businesses in the area where Brown had been fatally shot.

Turkey and the Bull
-------------------------

A turkey was chatting with a bull. "I would love to be Able to get to the top of that tree," sighed the turkey, but I haven't got the energy."

"Well, why don't you nibble on my droppings?" replied the bull. "They're packed with nutrients."

The turkey pecked at a lump of dung and found that it gave him enough strength to reach the lowest branch of the tree. The next day, after eating some more dung, he reached the second branch. Finally after a fourth night, there he was proudly perched at the top of the tree. Soon he was spotted by a farmer, who shot the turkey out of the tree.

Moral of the story: Bullsh*t might get you to the top, but it won't keep you there.

When you finish discussing O'bummer gun control over Thanksgiving dinner you can discuss O'bummer beer control.

In fact you might want to discuss the relationship between Obama and Control!

New rules will cost businesses between $49,000 and $77,000 to comply

why some men prefer guns over women.

Number ten -- You can trade and old 44 for a new 22.

Number nine -- You can keep one gun at home and have another one to take with you on the road.

Number eight -- If you admire a friend's gun and tell him so he will probably let you try it out a few times.

Number seven -- Your primary gun doesn't mind if you keep another gun for back up.

Number six -- Your gun will stay with you even if you run out of ammo.

Number five -- A gun doesn't take up a lot of closet space.

Number four -- Guns function normally every day of the month.

Number three -- A gun doesn't ask, "Do these new grips make me look fat?"

Number two -- A gun doesn't mind if you go to sleep after using it.

And the number one reason why some men prefer guns over women is

You can buy a silencer for a gun."

anyone need a GFY?
Hell we probably all do just throw a big one for everyone!

You need one?  Oh well just in case GFY and enjoy your St Augustine Adventures!

Don't forget to check in from time to time while the DAWG is resting and recovering.
what makes you think the DAWG ever rests?

The simple fact that I know he is an Old DAWG!
If we're lucky, maybe he'll post while Dean's away
That would be nice, I think all would find some entertainment value in those posts.

Old DAWGS can still hunt but they do more hunting than catching.

I'm trying not to have any expectations.  Was that yesterday that I anticipated it being a great day and then got shit on?  It feels like a week ago.

If you haven't had some of the offerings, a great opportunity to sample across the line.  Down side is it includes some items that are on their way out, so if you happen to like them, it may lead to a case of cigar blue balls.

Good morning all.  Smoked one of the V 2nds from sister.  They look good, no visible mars or obvious imperfections (obvious to me anyway) pre-draw was actually better than the labeled V's I have.  i immediately figureded they had skimped on some filler, but after smoking it, i have to admit it was every bit as enjoyable as the labeled "V"'s.  had the same flavor profile of the one I'd smoked on Friday (smoked this one on Sunday).   just an FYI if anyone was considering these.

Guess  Tat just shipped a load because Famous was out Sunday.  Wonder if your code still works.
Never mind, when you click on it, it's not available

Morning, muchachos. Nasty cold I have. I'll try not to get any on you.
Morning Raz.  hope you're feeling better very soon!
Aw, thanks Sam. Loading up on cold medicine. Gonna suck to fly in this condition.
Flying out today or tomorrow?  If tomorrow maybe you'll feel better by then.  Zicam seems to work on duration & intensity of a common cold.

Things are selling out pretty quick at the C Page while the Jam seems interested in flushing the toilets.
That Tat Lancero Sampler would've been a sweet catch
Damn right I would have bought at least 2 of those.  I checked as soon as I got their email and they were already gone, guessing they did not have very many.
Probably not, they've been in short supply for a while
Speaking of short supply... Has anyone heard from Joe?
I text with him about 2 weeks ago regarding beer, other than that not much.

Even though I know you just wanted to get a short joke out there
No, not just that.  I miss him.  I'll have to shoot him a text to wish him a happy turkey day.
he is living the bachelor life these days, just him at home, he made spaghetti with butter
yesterday, and posted the picture. he is still drinking whiskeys & beers and smoking cigars....

No, free crab legs would not do it for me but NOTHING  surprises me south of I-10.  The only reason Miles would still be there next year is wtf are they going to hire that might be any better with all the competition open right now.

Georgia is kinda in the same spot. No "name" that much better really available. Stuck with mediocrity for now, unless they go with an unknown... just for some new blood.

Yeah, I am just not a fan of big programs going with unknown up and comers.   I stand on TN as an example of what can go wrong with that.  I despise Miles and always have but myself I don't know who is both available and better.  South Carolina is certainly willing to pay whatever price LSU would and that is a hell of a lot better job than LSU because they have lower expectations.

Yes, all of the above!  we're hosting for some of the family (around 9 or 10 I think) and the home humi is full.  I feel a bit like a slacker though, only have regular Sam Adams Beer, Knob Creek bourbon, The Glen Livit scotch and Gray Goose vodka.  no mint milk beer, orange cinnamon bourbon, or bacon vodka.  week's still young though!

Be careful there or they will take you to be a real man with those libations.  No company at my house just the warden and me but I got Tito's Bloody Mary's, Beaujolais Nouveau Wine and Fighting Cock Bourbon.  Plenty of various alpha male s beers too.

$hit is about to hit the fan and it will not be good!

A Russian rescue helicopter has been shot down by Syrian rebels while searching for pilots missing after Turkey downed a Russian jet.

The helicopter was forced to make an emergency landing in a government-held area in Syria's Latakia province.

A Syrian insurgent group, which uses U.S. Tow missiles, said its fighters hit the helicopter with an anti-tank missile.

Not a fan, but then again I don't smoke as many connies.

I had a Jericho Hill .44S last night and it was the worst. Disappointing. I've really enjoyed all the previous I've smoked (including that particular vitola), but just goes to show, a bad one can slip in there every now and then.

What'd you have on the ride in this morning?

Usually don't smoke on the way in. Occasionally, on the way out... Friday or pseudo-Friday like tomorrow.

I've had one of those 601's as a throw in before. Believe it was the "rod" robusto. Was a decent smoke, but didn't overtake the Napalm as my favorite in the line. And Free is hard to beat.

not a good week for them so far.  but then they don't have Thursday off. stay tuned folks...
Considering that Russia isn't usually known for it's restraint OR it's willingness to exclude the occasional civilian in their equations, it could shape up to be an interesting week upcoming indeed.
They are more than welcome to piss all over Syria and western Iraq.
Turkey too as far as I am concerned.
Nah, we have out planes on the ground there.  Too much of a chance for a broader fuck-up.
