Cigar deals seem like a silly thing to get hung up on in light of the travesties that occurred in Paris. At the same time, talking about cigars and other lighter topics allows us to live our lives and not allow terrorists to change us. Join in this discussion and perhaps learn something along the way. Welcome aboard!

Cannoli. Cannoli done right is a taste of heaven Cannoli done reasonably well is delightful. Cannoli done badly is still pretty damned good. Had a pretty good Cannoli tonight, with strong black coffee. The Pasta Puttanesca sucked (how do you screw up Pasta Puttanesca? You leave out the anchovies). But the Cannoli was pretty damned okay.

Is there anyone innocent?
That's an honest question, not sarcasm.
I mean, Tex and I are the right-wing gun nuts here. And I have liberal - whatever that means - friends who tease me for my "paranoia". But there are 150 some-odd people dead in Paris.
If I would have warned them earlier today that a terrorist or three could gun them down at a concert, would they have laughed and told me about the odds of that happening?
I dunno. Maybe I am paranoid. But I'm gonna keep carrying the gun. If it comes to the worst-case scenario, having a gun and being a trained shooter may not save me. But I won't die wishing I could have fought back.

FHA Loan
-------------------------
A New Orleans lawyer sought an FHA loan for a client. He was told the loan would be granted if he could prove satisfactory title to a parcel of property being offered as collateral. The title to the property dated back to 1803, which took the lawyer three months to track down. After sending the information to the FHA, he received the following reply.
(Actual letter):
"Upon review of your letter adjoining your client's loan application, we note that the request is supported by an Abstract of Title. While we compliment the able manner in which you have prepared and presented the application, we must point out that you have only cleared title to the proposed collateral property back to 1803. Before final approval can be accorded, it will be necessary to clear the title back to its origin."
Annoyed, the lawyer responded as follows (actual letter):
"Your letter regarding title in Case No. 189156 has been received. I note that you wish to have title extended further than the 194 years covered by the present application. I was unaware that any educated person in this country, particularly those working in the property area, would not know that Louisiana was purchased, by the U.S. , from France in 1803, the year of origin identified in our application.
For the edification of uninformed FHA bureaucrats, the title to the land prior to U.S. ownership was obtained from France , which had acquired it by Right of Conquest from Spain
The land came into the possession of Spain by Right of Discovery made in the year 1492 by a sea captain named Christopher Columbus, who had been granted the privilege of seeking a new route to India by the Spanish monarch, Isabella. The good queen, Isabella, being a pious woman and almost as careful about titles as the FHA, took the precaution of securing the blessing of the Pope before she sold her jewels to finance Columbus' expedition. Now the Pope, as I'm sure you may know, is the emissary of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, and God, it is commonly accepted, created this world. Therefore, I believe it is safe to presume that God also made that part of the world called Louisiana . God, therefore, would be the owner of origin and His origins date back, to before the beginning of time, the world as we know it AND the FHA. I hope you find God's original claim to be satisfactory. Now, may we have our damn loan?"
The loan was approved.

Interview with expert who monitors ISIS communications sites/twitter feeds, etc. said ISiS terrorists wrote basically - 'Paris today, Rome tomorrow.'
May God rest the souls of innocent.

That's an honest question, not sarcasm.

I dunno. Maybe I am paranoid. But I'm gonna keep carrying the gun. If it comes to the worst-case scenario, having a gun and being a trained shooter may not save me. But I won't die wishing I could have fought back.
I couldn't agree with you more, Raz. I'm not a gun guy but I'm not one of those trying to take them away from you either. And I'm sure I'll get emails from some of the left wing groups using the Paris attacks as an excuse to ban guns and protest against the NRA... I'm also pretty sure that these terrorists who caused all the attrosaties didn't acquire their AK-47s legally. I'm tired of giving up my rights.
France is a Gun-Free-Country so how did that work out in January (when the cops did not even have guns) and 12 were killed by terrorists using smuggled guns or yesterday when +/- 150 were killed by terrorists with smuggled guns and hand grenades? (In reference to the gun free country status,) to quote anti-gun Hillary Clinton: "what damn difference does it make"
-
It's a shame. A damn shame. I am in favor of gun rights. We are dealing with people with out any morals. No soul and much worse.

too many Liberals complain about gun violence and advocate gun safety, UNTIL they are the victim. I myself will comply with the laws of the country just to the point where it demands I cannot defend myself. I found that it is very easy to get a permit in Florida compared to NY.

Somewhere in between in TX for a carry license and I think a pretty good system. Take a 2 day class, show proficiency with a gun at the range, take a written test, get finger printed all followed by a very thorough background check.

My wife got home from work earlier. Within 5 minutes of being home, I felt like running around the house as fast as I could and start running into the walls as I tear the remaining hair from my head. I keep asking myself over and over, "why is it that I miss her when she's gone, and can't wait for her to get home...?"

You're cute. I never think that about my wife. The more time apart we spend, the more successful our marriage is.

So far I'm enjoying my consolidated auction. So far I bought a 5 pack of CLE for $13, and some singles. A La Gloria Gilded Age Toro (just some thing I wanted to try), 262 Ideology Box Pressed Rosado Toro (no idea what that is, but it looked interesting), Four Kicks, La Campina (something mild and cheap for $2), Acid Subculture Mantra, and an Acid Toast. So far they keep putting up the same old singles. But I'm hoping something else will pop in there before Wednesday. :)
-
After my wife said she was starving for breakfast, and then putting me through 15 minutes of, "I don't know what I want." I fixed her a fine breakfast of light buttered toast with a glass of water. Then sent her off to bed. But of course I knew what I wanted. For myself I had, biscuits and gravy, hot sausage patties, scrambled eggs, and a big glass of milk.

Morning, muchachos. Long herf with the consortium yesterday. One of the guys brought a box of big rg Shock and Awe, which were meh. Nice box art, though.
I toted along my last Murc, and a OOO. Those and some Working Dog Syrah managed to wash away the taste of those Shock and Awes.

Then sent her off to bed. But of course I knew what I wanted. For myself I had, biscuits and gravy, hot sausage patties, scrambled eggs, and a big glass of milk.
Damn, now I want biscuits and gravy.
Always good to bring some of you own for backup.
Indeed. Morning, TD.

Might should just start open-carrying an AR.

I do....usually when I'm cleaning my gun.

No, still in place, along with race tracks, sporting events, campus (except college level now), airports, gambling venues, 51% bars, and places with the legal placard. Never understood the rational behind some of those.

Mostly nonsense. I know they changed it for city, county and state buildings. Austin already got sued and lost on that one.

So did you get a good deal on that Toast this time?
The Toast singles were $3, so I tossed a couple in. It's supposed to taste like burnt coffee. But of course we all know the first 1/2 will taste like sugar and potpourri. Most of the singles are bidding between $3 (Acid, Nub, COA, Perdomo, Padilla, 601) - $4.75 (Montecristo, Oliva Master Blend 3). If the consolidated shipping is $6, then I'll be doing pretty good at getting some cigars I've been wanting to try, but couldn't afford to buy a 5 pack each as I had in the past.

There are more church shootings than school shootings. But I pity the moron who tries that at my church. In any given service there are at least six armed and trained guys. Some are identifiable by the green security jackets, but most aren't.
Lessee, there's ex-Marine corporal Jeff - we call him the Sergeant-at-Arms - handing out the bulletins (S&W M&P .40), Detective Stan at the sound board (Glock 23), Pat the light guy (FN .45), ex-Marine Mark (Kimber .45), Big John wearing the biker colors (Kimber .45), Big Ron of the Seattle Police (Glock 22), Mike the FFL (Sig Nightmare .45), Eric the church Elder (usually a Sig .380), Jay the men's ministry director (Springfield XD .45), and Squire Doug, former airline pilot who owns a vast collection of firearms including a complete set of WWII small arms. The Squire prefers a S&W Airweight .38 Special. Dan the drummer is an FFL also, but he's old school and carries a Colt SAA in .45 LC (no, I'm not joking). Oh, can't forget my dad - the pastor. He's a Sig guy. And the associate pastor carries a 9mm. I'm usually onstage with a guitar - and the Glock 22. Most of these guys are also cigar smokers.
My church isn't a gun-free zone.

If Pat the Light Guy is packing an FNX 45 his britches are stacked and packed because I have my G20 and my FNX 45 both right in front of me and the Glock looks and feels like a compact pistol next to that animal. It is a heavy Bastige but shoots like a dream.

Ha, Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition! Not that it really matters, but what's the CC rule in WA when it comes to "places of worship"?
It's up to the places of worship. If you have a CPL in WA, you can carry anywhere except: Anyplace that is restricted to 21+ and is selling alcohol (which is why you find most restaurants here put a velvet rope around the bar to define a no-carry area), anyplace where judicial proceedings are held (but they are required by law to provide a secure place to check weapons), the secured portions of airports, the secured portions of jails or prisons, and public schools unless you are just picking up a student and leaving. Stadiums and convention centers operated by cities or municipalities can restrict un-licensed carry, but cannot restrict licensed carry. Private properties (like businesses) can prohibit firearms, even if licensed, but enforcement is restricted to having authorities escort you off the premises and maybe pursuing a trespass complaint.
All things considered, for such a Commie state that requires any transfer through an FFL, we're pretty sane about the carry of firearms. Lots and lots of gun owners here.

Not bothered by whats being carried,
but I do have to say it would bother me having people in church with green security jackets
I did find the security jackets a bit over the top.
