Tropical Storm Ophelia strengthened into a hurricane as it stalled 70 miles off the northeast Florida coast. (Ophelia ended up brushing the North Carolina Outer Banks.)

Architect, Artist and an Engineer
-------------------------

An architect, an artist and an engineer were discussing whether it was better to spend time with the wife or a mistress. The architect said he enjoyed time with his wife, building a solid foundation for an enduring relationship. The artist said he enjoyed time with his mistress, because of the passion and mystery he found there. The engineer said, "I like both."

"Both?" they asked.

Engineer: "Yeah. If you have a wife and a mistress, they will each assume you are spending time with the other woman, and you can go to the lab and get some work done."

Fried egg and cheese on a Kaiser roll, a little salt & pepper.  only thing more New York, is a roll with butter or a bagel with cream cheese.  Don't get me started on a bialy.  8)  Good morning boys, school starts, so I'm  back at work early, my youngest catches a ride with me to the train.  So now I am in the office by 8am.
For perfection, you need to add a slice of pork roll to that.
Now you're talkin'. Shaun will take 2 of those...hold the coffee
And a bakers dozen for Tony whenever he wakes up but don't hold the coffee either and maybe pick up a dozen Krispy Cream's for Desert.
You skinny guys are always pickin' on us portly types.  Sheesh.  I'm sure if you were overweight too you wouldn't dare be such a hypocrite.

I am not a Dave, my youngest is 17 and just got her drivers license.  but I don't like any pet more than my kids...
this last week would have been my 34 anniversary if I was still hitched to the ex-wife.  So my older children are 33 and 31.

Good mornin Tex, how was the weekend?
Mostly nice weekend, son was home for a visit and enjoyed that, ate too much good food.  Warden was on my nerves as much as humanly possible.
I swear they consider it an art form.
I asked mine last night why she did something (specifically reading some stupid b.s. junk mail out loud to me while I was watching the football game) and her exact response was "to get on your nerves".   Fuk!  I said that seems to be your only purpose left in life and went to bed.

Fuk!  I said that seems to be your only purpose left in life and went to bed.
typical warden. I think they have a special school they go to to learn that stuff.
Do NOT follow this Advice!  :o Warden insists on doing all the driving, and for about the last 12 years, I just let her.  However she has this habit, of not passing a slow moving car, but pulling up to it's bumper, slowing down to it's speed, and wonder why she can pass with ease, now that she is doing 45, and everyone else is doing 70mph.  I have mentioned it countless times to no avail.  a few weeks ago, she did it again, and I told her I could no longer get mad at her, for doing that.  Said, she must be mentally challenged, and she is too stupid to notice the car in front of her is driving much slower than our vehicle.  It must take some form of higher math like calculus, to notice that the space between the two cars is rapidly diminishing from 20 car lengths, to 15, to 12 to 10..... told her since she only went to Beauty school, after high school, I couldn't expect her to be aware of the world around us, like those who went to college. Two things happened, she got incredibly angry, and she stopped this obnoxious habit. She drove to Nashville, like a champ, got out from behind slow moving cars, when she was still at highway speeds, and 12 car lengths behind them.  8)

So now I am in the office by 8am.
flip should probably clarify that his "youngest" is older than Tony  ;D
I am not a Dave, my youngest is 17 and just got her drivers license.  but I don't like any pet more than my kids...
this last week would have been my 34 anniversary if I was still hitched to the ex-wife.  So my older children are 33 and 31.
hey Flip.
I've been married 39 years, just not to the same woman. hahaha.
6 on, 6 years off, 21 on and counting....  8)
I'm a 3 time loser, no 4th, EVER.
No because that would be insane.
I have a friend that is on his 7th wife. WTF is wrong with him?
Yeah but the woman he's with now is different.  SHEESH!

Good mornin gents
Morning CG
Good mornin Tex, how was the weekend?
Mostly nice weekend, son was home for a visit and enjoyed that, ate too much good food.  Warden was on my nerves as much as humanly possible.
I swear they consider it an art form.
I asked mine last night why she did something (specifically reading some stupid b.s. junk mail out loud to me while I was watching the football game) and her exact response was "to get on your nerves".   Fuk!  I said that seems to be your only purpose left in life and went to bed.
typical warden.
I do not ride in the car with the warden at the wheel unless I am way too drunk to drive.
Warden complains so much when I drive, that it is quieter, just to let her drive.  Plus we have his & hers cars, and tend to take hers more.

speaking of his car, got the 2006 Lexis IS 250 AWD fixed.  Alpha after market warranty, up side only cost me $100 for a water pump replacement, as well as both rear axles.  Saved $7,400.00 over dealer service, and $2,200 on actual repair cost. down side, took them a couple of days to get to inspect the car, and approve work, and no Lexis loaner car.  ::)

My warden is not shy, nor will she pass up a chance to complain, ever.  97% of what she talks about is usually a complaint.  have tuned much out, but then you risk the chance of not hearing the 3% of information that is actually useful(your family called, etc).

The outcome of this is going to be very interesting.

San Antonio-area police investigate 2 players who hit ref

A San Antonio-area police department is investigating two football players who rammed into a referee during a high school game.

Marble Falls, Texas, police said in a statement Monday there have been no arrests.

The Northside Independent School District is conducting its own investigation into the incident Friday and has suspended the two players from the school and the team.

Video showed the referee watching the play, and his head snapping back when he is leveled from behind. The other player then dove on top of him. The team from John Jay High School in San Antonio was playing Marble Falls High School in Marble Falls, located about 90 miles north of San Antonio.

The names of the players and the referee have not been released.

So now I am in the office by 8am.
flip should probably clarify that his "youngest" is older than Tony  ;D
I am not a Dave, my youngest is 17 and just got her drivers license.  but I don't like any pet more than my kids...
this last week would have been my 34 anniversary if I was still hitched to the ex-wife.  So my older children are 33 and 31.
hey Flip.
I've been married 39 years, just not to the same woman. hahaha.
6 on, 6 years off, 21 on and counting....  8)
I'm a 3 time loser, no 4th, EVER.

As Texas has a law specifically addressing attacking a referee, and this is on video with no possibility of "interpreting" their actions, I would say they are screwed.

Morning LSU, woke up and can't go back to sleep.  Looks like this Jam could put me back to sleep.
It will work better than watching a boring rerun on TV for sure.
We save certain movies to our dvr, just to play at night to put us to sleep. Some movies will put us to sleep within 5 minutes or less some times.

In 1966, the science-fiction TV series "Star Trek" premiered on NBC; the situation comedy "That Girl," starring Marlo Thomas, premiered on ABC.

As a kid I never watched Star Trek.  It wasn't until later in life that I watched the reruns.  As much as I can remember, I think it was on at the same time as my favorite program, "The Man From U.N.C.L.E."  And to think my mom throw away my mint condition Man From U.N.C.L.E. Briefcase Gun...

In 1974, President Gerald R. Ford granted a "full, free, and absolute pardon" to former President Richard Nixon covering his entire term in office.

They should just add that to the incoming President's oath. I hear by grant full, free, and absolute pardon to any and all out going presidenst (add name list here.)  It would just save a step for everyone.

2 more days and it will be cool enough for whiskey around here.  Already finished all my Oktoberfest.
I drank some Yuengling Oktoberfest over the weekend.  Very nice.
Sam Adams for me this weekend, good stuff.
I had Alka Seltzer.

So now I am in the office by 8am.
flip should probably clarify that his "youngest" is older than Tony  ;D
I am not a Dave, my youngest is 17 and just got her drivers license.  but I don't like any pet more than my kids...
this last week would have been my 34 anniversary if I was still hitched to the ex-wife.  So my older children are 33 and 31.
hey Flip.
I've been married 39 years, just not to the same woman. hahaha.
6 on, 6 years off, 21 on and counting....  8)

Can't verify if you did or not but you are certainly not the only one I ever heard make that claim - most of them are either divorced, dead or both now though.
Yeah, but I'm saying it after 28 years together, 26 married.
We got married in 1972.  You'd think you'd get some free bonus years after 40...?

Good morning banter's.....
DAD!
Did you go back and check out Dad's new car CG?  Got himself a humdinger!
It feel like we got rid of a Model T and bought a Space Ship....  We're still trying to figure out how to turn the defrosters on.  After a day of trying to understand the 592 page manual, it now appears it's under dehumidifier, I think.  Press (defrost) button, press recirculate button, set thermostat to ????.  Once dehumidified, turn off recirculate button to stop moister from reforming on windshield.  After we figure this one out, we going to attempt to figure out what the SYNC button is...?  It seems to flash every once in a while.

Good morning banter's.....
DAD!
How ya doing Shaun...?  Man, my wife has really been nice to me after I got her that car... :)
Doin pretty good sir - What did you end up getting?!??!!
It's a 2015 Honda Accord Sport.  We went in to get a Honda Civic, but at the last minute my wife suggested I try to sit in that passenger seat and I didn't fit.
LALTS!  I like the choice with the Accord - nice cars!
Sorry, but I'm happy.  I'll post it again.. :)
Better get all those lights checked out ;)
That's strange... There's a light for the lights.  They look like two eyes looking at ya..
Hahaha - really nice looking car Dad, CG87 Approved!
Thanks.. We waited a very long time and saved to get it.  We got it Friday.  We've been driving the hell out of it and I think we're already up to 54 miles...  And it appears that if you drive it like an old man, you'll get good mileage.  Or at least I'm getting 27.5 mpg, so I'm not so sure how old that makes me a driver..?
I do love the new mpgs, the wifes Subi Forester(hatchmack/crossover) gets 28 in city and 31-33 on the interstate(neutral wind)...damn near beats my 5speed Jetta!
Did you still end up getting it for just shy of 20k?
Well, not really...  That was the Toyota Corolla for 20k.  I did the TrueCar thing and printed out various certificates for Civics, but one was for the lower priced Accord LX $19,745.  He asked me if I knew the Sport was about $1,600 more than the LX, and if I would consider it?  So that ran it up to $21,345.  That sound reasonable, but without thinking about the sales tax, license, fees, it started to run up.  He also talked me into the extended 4yr warranty for $1,700.  So it has a 7yr bumper to bumper warranty.  I said I wouldn't get it, but when he started explaining about the $105 per hour shop fee, and all those video screens on the dash that could go out, it didn't sound so bad.  He said if I hit a pot hole and bent the rim of the wheel, it would cost around $900 to replace the tire and wheel.  Also, if I purchased it today, they would give me a 50% money back at 7 years if I don't need to use it. Well, I'm an old man, and I just tire of car repair bills, so I got it.  So just off the top of my head, I'd say it was about $25,000.  But I figure (hopefully) this will be the last new car I'll ever buy.  And at 63 years old, if the car last 10 to 15 years, this will probably be the only time I could enjoy it.

We have "safely" congregated in a large group in back of the parking garage. Hope no one decides to start a mass shooting out here.
Go ahead and pee in your pants just in case.

If the A/C compressor goes out during that time it would cost you that much or more these days, not a bad idea at all for you.   Last new car....... my dad said that when he was about 65 and holy shit did it cause nightmares by the time he was 80!

Of course I may buy a used car.  But I figure at the rate that cars are going up each year, an average car in 10 more years may be around $40 - $45,000.

Done. Figure I should make the drill as realistic as possible.
Yeah, if you wait till the shoot'n starts to do it they will think you are scared.  Now they just think you needed to go.
Yeah. It seemed like others were having trouble so I tried to help them out by peeing on their pants. They didn't seem happy.

We did a bumper-to-bumper on the wifes too, we did her's on a 6year loan so I upped it to a 6yr/60k to cover repairs through the loan of the vehicle.

Still sounds like a good deal, and cheaper than a 2016 they might have tried to sell you

it was bound to happen eventually, they just needed everybodys 401K to look
bad at the end of the quarter, so the fed would not stop the "free money" loans to the big banks.
It is amazing how they can get money at 0.2 or lower percent, and charge 14 to 28% on credit
cards.

You have to use dewpoint for that.  63 here, 65 there, so not much of a difference at all.  If I wanted to sweat I could have stayed in TX.

Gun sales were at an all-time high in June, July, and August, according to one metric.

This August saw 1.7 million background checks performed by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives on new gun sales, the most checks ever performed in any August since the creation of the National Instant Background Check System. The agency performed 1.6 million checks in July, the high for that month. They did a further 1.5 million in June, another all-time high.
