Piece of Cake
-------------------------

Little Johnny walked into the kitchen, saw his mother making a
cake and announced, "I'll be playing in my room for the next two
hours. I sure would like a piece of cake when you're finished."

Later, when his mother brought him a piece of cooled cake, Little
Johnny exclaimed, "Golly, it worked!"

Puzzled, his mother asked, "What do you mean?"

Little Johnny replied, "Daddy said that in order to get a piece
around here, you have to spend a couple of hours playing first!"

Ten years ago: Six days after Hurricane Katrina left a devastated New Orleans in chaos, police stormed the Danziger Bridge, shooting and killing two unarmed people and wounding four others. (Five New Orleans police officers were found guilty of civil rights violations in connection with the shootings; however, a federal judge threw out those convictions in September 2013 and ordered a new trial, concluding the case had been tainted by "grotesque prosecutorial misconduct.")

Late for Work
-------------------------

Jones came into the office an hour late for the third time in one week
and found the boss waiting for him. "What's the story this time, Jones?"
he asked sarcastically. "Let's hear a good excuse for a change."

Jones sighed, "Everything went wrong this morning, Boss. The wife decided to
drive me to the station. She got ready in ten minutes, but then the
drawbridge got stuck. Rather than let you down, I swam across the river,
look, my suit's still damp -- ran out to the airport, got a ride on Mr.
Thompson's helicopter, landed on top of Radio City Music Hall, and was
carried here piggyback by one of the Rockettes."

"You'll have to do better than that, Jones," said the boss, obviously
disappointed. "No woman can get ready in ten minutes."

Great to have college football back!  Some games were understandably sloppy, Georgia Tech looked scary good (but yea, against Alcorn St.) TCU and Arizona St. and Oklahoma St. less impressive than expected at first glance, and the coots got lucky.
And both the Cocks and NC are TERRIBLE but made for a pretty good game.  NC is just more terrible than the Cocks.
That about sums it up.

btw - taking the lady to Ybor City tomorrow cigar shopping down 7th Ave and the JC Newman Cigar Company. I have a half dozen shops I want to stop at. if I spend all my money on cigars we drive back home, if not we spend the night in Tarpon Springs.
You have a bed at home, spend all your money! Lol
+1  heck, a couple of good cigars will get you through the night better than sleep....you can do THAT anytime!
I agree with that train of thought, but the lady may be more susceptible to an evening out and no complaints of a headache.
Hotel sex, baby!  But don't go cheap on the room, roaches and bed spread stains are a real mood killer.
I always take Nate to the best hotels
Yea, plenty of four stars in Lake Harmony!
...but no Yellowstars
Gotta keep the commie count low. We're already pushing it with me being there.
Indeed. You use up two commie credits all by yourself.   Have to get TexDave up there also for equilibrium.

In deed!  Too many cigar choices.  have 3 in hand at the moment.  MF FdlA, Black Crown & a Partagas Cifuentes...just can't decide.  leaning towards the Black Crown.

Except that one guy gave me some serious stink eye and then said something snotty as he left (I had headphones in and didn't hear exactly what).  Then a second ago, some lady asked me to put it out because she couldn't eat her lunch with the smell.  I told her to go sit around the other side of the building where like everywhere else in the commie city, you can't smoke.  But here, I can and will continue to do so.

A couple of minutes after that two people came by and asked me to fill in a survey about the park.  I basically said that I like the private park where I'm allowed to enjoy my freedoms as an American.

Good that you discovered that park.  Nice little spot.
Atta boy Tony, fuck the haters!

She tried to tell me what I was doing was illegal.  I informed her it was a private park and cigar smoking was encouraged.  Then I told her to call the cops.
I love it - nothing worse than citizens like her.  We are just living in your world lady, just keep us in line!
A couple of minutes after that two people came by and asked me to fill in a survey about the park.  I basically said that I like the private park where I'm allowed to enjoy my freedoms as an American.
Hopefully you had a shotgun slung across your chest and a Rambo cutoff on...   ;)

Just got back from lunch, this afternoon needs to go by fast!
Not many here to keep you company.
Yeah wtf, who farted?
Does it smell like pumpkin?
Hit the bourbon last night, after a Pumking :)
No wonder everybody left.
Made myself an old fashioned - starting to experiment with bitters and simple syrup/sugar.  Bought some Orange bitters, really like adding that flavor in.
Not much of a simple syrup sweet drink fan myself.
Not much of a fan of Manhattans. But if they're made with rye - as they're supposed to be - I can manage to choke them down.

My weekend officially started.  I walked over to Paley Park with a La Jugada.  Stopped at Cigar Inn and picked up #2 for the day.

Drank bourbon last night myself. Went to my dad's to watch the Seahawks game. We smoked a couple of EPC Core '13 and a couple of OOO's.

Owned by the Paley's who of course have the La Palina line of cigars.  I think Tony went to a smoking event there earlier in the year.

When did they put the park there? I must have walked by it a dozen times on trips to NYC back in then late 90's and early 00's. Never noticed it.

Of course, I wasn't smoking many cigars then, either.

Hence the encouragement to smoke.  Too cool.  That piece of land has got to be worth a fortune.

This lady was probably in her late 60s and I tried to remain respectful.  I even said, "sorry, but I'm not putting it out" and she replied, "you're not sorry" and then went back to her seat.  Which by the way was at least 30 feet in the opposite direction of where the breeze was blowing.  But I thought GFY.  :)
