On July 6, 1945, President Harry S. Truman signed an executive order establishing the Medal of Freedom. Nicaragua became the first nation to ratify the United Nations Charter.
On this date
In 1415, Czech church reformer Jan Hus (yahn hoos), condemned for heresy, was burned at the stake in Konstanz in present-day Germany.

Ten years ago: New York Times reporter Judith Miller was jailed after refusing to testify before a grand jury investigating the leak of undercover CIA operative Valerie Plame's identity (Miller was jailed for 85 days before agreeing to testify). London was selected to host the 2012 Olympics. The Group of Eight summit opened in Gleneagles, Scotland. L. Patrick Gray, the acting FBI director during Watergate, died in Atlantic Beach, Florida, at age 88. Author Evan Hunter (aka Ed McBain) died in Weston, Connecticut, at age 78.
Five years ago: Queen Elizabeth II addressed the United Nations for the first time since 1957 during her first New York visit in over 30 years; she then laid a wreath at ground zero. President Barack Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu dismissed talk of a rift at a White House meeting. The Obama administration filed suit in Phoenix to block Arizona's toughest-in-the-nation immigration law. (In 2012, the U.S. Supreme Court threw out major parts of the law, but upheld the power of police to check the immigration status of those they stop for other reasons.) Lindsay Lohan was sentenced to 90 days in jail and 90 days in a residential substance-abuse program after a judge found the actress had violated her probation in a 2007 drug case by failing to attend alcohol education classes. Jonah and the Whale
-------------------------
A little girl was talking to her teacher about whales. The teacher said it was physically impossible for a whale to swallow a human because even though it was a very large mammal its throat was very small.
The little girl stated that Jonah was swallowed by a whale.
Irritated, the teacher reiterated that a whale could not swallow a human; it was physically impossible.
The little girl said, "When I get to heaven I will ask Jonah."
The teacher asked, "What if Jonah went to hell?"
The little girl replied, "Then you ask him."

No shit. You've gotta be an idiot to be messing with fireworks if you're a normal schmuck. But if you're an athlete with a multi-million dollar contract? That's a level beyond mere stupidity.

Doctor told me last week that 80 is the new 60. Oh yeah add that to my falling apart issue too he said that as he told me a lump on my neck that has been there 30+ years needs to be removed. Non malignant, in fact the same thing my Dog, Magnum, had done a few months back except his was on his leg.
dave, can't you have Magnums veterinarian do yours? Should cost a lot less, more cigar money.
I suggested that to my Doctor as the vet did a great job for 1/10 the cost and my Dr took offense to such.
Not good to piss off a guy who's going to have a scalpel to your neck....just sayin'

Billy Joel married a 33 year old over the weekend. All the power to ya man.
His 4th one so obviously he has a history of non-performers.
For a guy who's not particularly attractive, he sure has managed to get some beauties. But I guess having her due this summer with his baby probably helped.
Oh schitt, did not know about that part. He'll be 80 when the kid enters high school. Sheesh.

I will just use Magnum's.

Hey Dave, thanks for the recaps. Wish I had some money because there are some decent deals today.

@LTG: Ever since it was brought back to my attention, I've been watching cigar.com's sprint sale. Some decent Bueso deals on there. Just saw Ramon Bueso Genesis The Project Robusto (5.0"x50)
BOX OF 20 go for $50ish and that includes shipping. Not too shabby.

Veritas Torch Havano OTT from a gift sampler they sent.
Starting out very nice, with a perfect draw, medium with no pepper. Smooth tobacco on the draw with cream and a roasted nut on the finish. A bit of spice now and a sweet cedar. Ash is holding on well and a perfect burn. It'sgood, especially for being OTT. Its much like many nice hababos we get in the $5 range, not sure of the price point on this one.

Morning LSU & Golf.
Morning Dave.
Got a massive fire going up your way Dave.
Holy shit, you have no idea how close that place is to my house. First I've heard about it, though.
2.9 miles, to be exact. Surprised I didn't notice any smoke this morning when I left for work.
Authorities say it was likely started by an improperly extinguished cigar
Update 11 minutes ago: Fire caused by Brocoli Infested Sausage left on the grill
That's broccoli rabe! And I don't know what you're talking about
speaking about fires on the grill, if you can avoid like the plague, the Philly Gourmet brand of hamburgers. sold in a frozen box of 16. 1/4 lb apiece. I forgot how bad they were, in cooking, they shrink to about 1/2 the size, end up looking like sliders, and you get massive grease flareups on the grill. four of them on the grill, looked like more pyrotechnics, then some of the fountains that were shot off later.

new time record, with karaoke party. Police arrived at 7:30pm asking us to turn the music down.... Apparently there is a new noise ordinance, which then can enforce before 10pm. Warden was feeling her sangria, she was inside when the cops showed up, years before she would have asked to have us turn it down. This year she comes out, and says: "screw them, we have been having this party for 10 years, it's early, turn it back up!".

That looks very nice and the burn is razor sharp too.
its well made, good feel and great performance, no nasty aftertaste.
TNWSS. I know, that heavy edit is off-sides. 5 yard penalty.
id say it's 5min in the penalty box
Being baseball season...3 game suspension.
