Bank Robberies
-------------------------
According to the FBI, most modern-day bank robberies are "unsophisticated
and unprofessional crimes," committed by young male repeat offenders who
apparently don't know the first thing about their business. This information
was included in an interesting, amusing article titles "How Not to Rob a Bank,"
by Tim Clark, which appeared in the 1987 edition of The Old Farmers Almanac.
Clark reported that in spite of the widespread use of surveillance cameras,
76 percent of bank robbers use no disquise, 86 percent never study the bank
before robbing it, and 95 percent make no long-range plans for concealing the
loot. Thus, he offered this advice to would-be bank robbers, along with
examples of what can happen if the rules aren't followed:
1. Pick the right bank. Clark advises that you don't follow the lead of the
fellow in Anaheim, Cal., who tried to hold up a bank that was no longer in
business and had no money. On the other hand, you don't want to be too
familiar with the bank. A California robber ran into his mother while making
his getaway. She turned him in.
2. Approach the right teller. Granted, Clark says, this is harder to plan.
One teller in Springfield, Mass., followed the holdup man out of the bank and
down the street until she saw him go into a restaurant. She hailed a passing
police car, and the police picked him up. Another teller was given a holdup
note by a robber, and her father, who was next in line, wrestled the man to the
ground and sat on him until authorities arrived.
3. Don't sign your demand note. Demand notes have been written on the back
of a subpoena issued in the name of a bank robber in Pittsburgh, on an envelope
bearing the name and address of another in Detriot, and in East Hartford,
Conn., on the back of a withdrawal slip giving the robber's signature and
account number.
4. Beware of dangerous vegetables. A man in White Plains, N.Y., tried to
hold up a bank with a zucchini. The police captured him at his house, where he
showed them his "weapon."
5. Avoid being fussy. A robber in Panorama City, Cal., gave a teller a note
saying, "I have a gun. Give me all your twenties in this envelope." The
teller said, "All I've got is two twenties." The robber took them and left.
6. Don't advertise. A holdup man thought that if he smeared mercury ointment
on his face, it would make him invisible to the cameras. Actually, it
accentuated his features, giving authorities a much clearer picture. Bank
robbers in Minnesota and California tried to create a diversion by throwing
stolen money out of the windows of their cars. They succeeded only in drawing
attention to themselves.
7. Take right turns only. Avoid the sad fate of the thieves in Florida who
took a wrong turn and ended up on the Homestead Air Force Base. They drove up
to a military police guardhouse and, thinking it was a toolbooth, offered the
security men money.
8. Provide your own transportation. It is not clever to borrow the teller's
car, which she carefully described to police. This resulted in the most
quickly solved bank robbery in the history of Pittsfield, Mass.
9. Don't be too sensitive. In these days of exploding dye packs, stuffing
the cash into your pants can lead to embarrassing stains, Clark points out,
not to mention severe burns in sensitive places--as bandits in San Diego and
Boston painfully discovered.
10. Consider another line of work. One nervous Newport, R.I., robber, while
trying to stuff his ill-gotten gains into his shirt pocket, shot himself in
the head and died instantly. Then there was the case of the hopeful criminal
in Swansea, Mass., who, when the teller told him she had no money, fainted.
He was still unconscious when the police arrived.
In view of such ineptitude, it is not surprising that in 1978 and 1979, for
example, federal and state officers made arrests in 69 percent of the bank
holdups reported.

Some times ya just gotta belly up to the bar... I've been sort of pissed at my drinking buddy and he hasn't been coming over as much. He's one of the people that will call you and make plans, and while your waiting for him to come over, he doesn't call, answer text, or show up. Then in a day or two, he'll call and want to get together again. My whole day was shot waiting on him and trying to contact him. That's what I like to call, "A big crock of shit...!"

Monday I looked at a new Honda Civic. As I looked at the backseat I thought, "that doesn't look so small, I'll give it a try." While I sat in the backseat I thought, "well, this will work for grandkids and small adults." Then I looked back out the open car door and it hit me, "I don't think I can get back out of this thing...!" As I started getting back out, that's when it really hit me, "I was right, I can't get out of this thing." My wife had to grab me by the hand and pull me out of the damn thing. Later my back started hurting and I had to take a pain pill. Now who in the world would have thought you could get hurt looking at a new car...?
As we walked out the door, another car salesman came running up to us. He said, "I guess you didn't hear me inside yelling, "Is that the Predomo Rep. handing out cigars...???" Forgetfully I'm like, "oh yeal, I'm wearing my Predomo T-shirt..." He had about 50 questions about cigars for me. Do you own a humidor...? My wife responds with, "ask him how many.." I love my Cuban Crafters 150 count humidor and humity beads, so I told him about that. Then he waned to talk about which cigars. I"m like, "oh god, I can't hardly get anyone to agree on the cigars that I smoke, I might not be the right person to ask.." We talked for 10 or 15 minutes about cigars. That was the first time I ever had some one run up to me to talk about cigars. He was really excited about getting to talk about cigars. :)

I don't mind broccoli, so I'd try it. Local Polish butcher makes a couple different styles. Never seen this though. I'll inquire. They have a spicey pepper and onion that is really good. Not too many places like that down here though. I do like having the bakery, deli, and butcher specialties. Everything here is in the 'super' grocery or the evil WalMart.

That's not too bad. I like the Maduros the best. I believe I have about 15 Maduros in my humidor at the moment, so that should hold me for some time now. I have been eyeing those Perdomo Habano Robusto Corojo thou.. I've only had one of those, and it was in my humidor for 2 1/2 years, but it was great..!

Damn bastige, enjoy!
Had to Google that one.
No better accompaniment to sausage IMO, ask LTG. It's really a North-East Italian thing
it's good, but its no fried cubanelle peppers and vidalia onions. this from the guy who paid $5 last week for a about half a coffee cup of it, as a tapa at Spuntinos wine bar(it kept the grilled octopus & faro and the ahi tuna crudo company with my wine flight). read this and drool http://www.spuntinowinebar.com/our-menus/item/505-main-menu.html (http://www.spuntinowinebar.com/our-menus/item/505-main-menu.html) 8)

Had never heard of it until CF, but it really was the best sausage I've ever had. TNWSS
Ha. Nice. So, it was IN the sausage, not with it?
Yes, this was actually in the sausage. First time I've seen that but they make it themselves at an Italian Specialty shop
Typically it's penne, sausage, broccoli rabe in a garlic/white wine sauce or just the sauteed broccoli rabe as a side dish
I think LTG actually has a picture of this infamous sausage from CFest
(http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/07/01/8f637c95c70234ca0d1dc95d8da81f94.jpg)
And of course Diet Mt Dew never far away.
Looks good to me...! Now if you only had some Cauliflower sauce.

Hopefully you did not mention Kuba Kuba's to the guy.
I did mention them, but not without a word of caution, that I'm the only one that likes them.

Correct. And I don't like broccoli at all, but still ate this with gusto, that's how good it was.
I'd try it too. We have a Schnucks grocery store that makes jalapeno bratwurst, and that's great on the grill.

I made myself hungry, got to go to lunch...
After reading the menu you posted, now I'm hungry.... And they keep showing those darn KFC chicken commercials on tv too... I like that new Colonel.

IT guys discussion just now:
Dumbest of the two: It is just staying too hot in this server room lately but the A/C seems to be working ok (It has some sort of mobile a/c unit in it)
Smartest of the two: I have noticed that, I am wondering if we put a door on the room if that might solve the problem.
Dumbest: I don't know if that would help or not......

i've been wanting to go to this place, with the wife and daughter, for years, but it is right next door to an Irish bar/restaurant and a Chevy's in Clifton Commons, so I always get outvoted. Nadine was working, and I had just dropped Gabrielle off a birthday/slumber/pool party, and I had some time to kill before visiting with a friend of mine who runs karaoke at a bar in Nutley. i had no excuses as i pulled into the parking lot.

I recently had fluid behind the ear. Which basically the canal past your ear drum drains into your throat. It was clogged with mucus. The doctor prescribed some pills that dries everything up, such as for bronchitis. But my wife made me some off brand rommin noodles that were spicy hot. They were so hot, sweet started coming out of the top of my head. My nose started running, and I believe the canal in my ear stared draining, because I could start to hear shortly after eating the spicy soup. I started holding my nose and slowly blowing into my closed mouth until my ears would pop causing the canal to open and close. I started eating the spicy soup for a few days. I really think it was the hot peppers that cured my hearing.

That's my cure for cold symptoms. I eat a coupla-three Habaneros, and the blood vessels dilate, sinuses begin to drain, endorphins kick in, and I feel 75% better. Best part is, I can eat as many as I want, when I want. Better than meds.

may stop for a cigar this afternoon. gotta talk to my contractor about putting in a sump and a sump pump. Last nights rainstorm gave me a water situation, in the finished basement. seems to be coming from the tool room, only part of the basement, we didn't strip down to the foundation and drylock. luckily it is the lowest point, and where the water comes in from.

Agreed. But when I was a curtain climber, I thought it was great. I'd still watch Daisy in reruns... schwing!

I'm going to take a break, and maybe run up the KFC's for some chicken later. And have one of those old people's early suppers.. :)
Enjoy, BD.
may stop for a cigar this afternoon. gotta talk to my contractor about putting in a sump and a sump pump. Last nights rainstorm gave me a water situation, in the finished basement. seems to be coming from the tool room, only part of the basement, we didn't strip down to the foundation and drylock. luckily it is the lowest point, and where the water comes in from.
It rained?
4:30 in the morning...
I'm usually sleeping at that hour.

me too. and I didn't sleep well the night before, so I stayed up watching Interstellar till 1:30. figured I would get the sleep of the dead. nope, Nada, not going to happen. was woken up by the teenager telling me warden was going ballistic, cause water was coming into the basement, and they weren't sure how the wet/dry vacuum worked. I showed them how to remove the paper filter, and empty it out to get it set up to suck water from the floor. then they let me go back to sleep

Sorry to hear about that, Tony. When are the unions going to realize that seriously inconveniencing the ordinary hard-working person will not win them much favor with the public with such tactics as holding up trains with a strike. What is the Trespassers' Union holding out for: higher wages, fewer hours, better benefits?

That's pretty funny. But I also realize that my day isn't going as badly as the person who was struck by the train (trespasser).
