Morning, boyos. Happy Dean Day.
Wind has been crazy here since last night, they sure called this one. No snow yet, still supposedly coming in behind this front. In fact, we're talking about putting off groceries until tomorrow, just in case we'd happen to lose power because of it.

That's smart thinking.

Was this a starting word for you at one point?
Once I find a word, I'll ride it until it hits. Because the day I decide to switch it up, well, we all know what would happen. :D

It was my 2025 most used starting word, according to the NYT Year In Games.

Woke up without heat again this morning. Now I'm starting to lose my patients. It's supposed to get serviced between 1-3 this afternoon.

Good gracious. Do they have lemon laws for boilers?

Now the wife (who's idea it was to wait, mind you) has decided maybe we should just go shopping after all. So we'll be doing that later, assuming she doesn't change her mind again.

I really should have a more regular grocery shopping schedule. We just kinda go, when we're missing something, and invariably pick up a bunch of shit we don't need.

I decided to order pizza tonight because I just don't feel like cooking. I may take a pork shoulder out of the freezer and start thawing it for tomorrow.

We do it Mondays because of after school and work activities. The kids know Mondays are off limits for these things. Well, they can still work, but they might get dropped off early.

I could go for a good pizza right now. And really any time, to be fair.

Thad remains cancer-free, and gets stronger and stronger. He rode dirt bikes a lot over the summer, and we played a four-hour gig on Dec 20th.
A few weeks ago, he thought he was going to lose his job at Microsoft, which had him in distress. Instead, they promoted him and gave him a $20K/year raise.
So I guess you'd say Thad's doing just fine.

And there's the first Vishing scam call of the season. They were clever. Masqueraded as the company that holds my mortgage, so the Android phone spam filter didn't snag it. They called to have me verify two fraudulent transactions. The tipoff was that they didn't understand a minor oddity in my credit report. There is a creditor with which I have a mortgage and a HELOC, and my wife has a credit card from the same provider which appears in my report because I'm an authorized user, but I don't actually have the card. So they told me the fraudulent charges were on that card, and did I recognize them? Nice try, thanks for playing, *click*.
They were smooth, though. Very convincing. I surveyed all the credit reports, just in case. I monitor all my credit cards daily. I had the missus check her two.
Gotta be careful out there.

If only they used their skills for good instead of evil.

No out of pocket, although I heard the technician arguing with the office and they were telling him that the warranty ended on December 17th. I immediately called them and asked them to check my history and when was the last time I reported this same issue (over-filling of the boiler, because low water sensor not working). Their tune changed rather quickly. In all fairness the office guy is new and I asked him to talk to the owner who was ready to make this right.

They are getting trickier. I long for the days of the Nigerian prince.

That's good news, even if it took some doing.
