That's so awesome. Congrats to her, ProudPapaDave!

I was a Proud Papa last night at a school theater event. The freshmen and sophomores performed a series of show tunes from various musicals as sort of an initiation into the program. The freshmen did their numbers in small groups, whereas the sophomores all did solos. Max did really well with a Sondheim song from, "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum."
Needless to say, we finished dinner around 11.

Sounds like a good time, glad to hear he nailed it.

I'm also proud of Max for landing that job at Chick-fil-A. He's got orientation on Saturday. Hard to keep track of all the goings on this month. I think there's a different event almost every night from now until Christmas.

And as a bonus, he knows he'll always have Sundays off. :D

I won't lie, it's not my favorite organization. But that is a great perk and the food is pretty tasty

I think I may have had it once at work when they were there giving out free food, but I don't remember how good it might've been. But as you alluded to, I wouldn't give them my money to find out for sure.

It's also on the expensive side of fast food. Although, what isn't these days?

And you have to admit, staff is far more professional and friendly than most.

Failed Sports Connections again. I got Yellow and Blue, rather quickly, and then I couldn't figure out the rest. I'm now at 88% since they started keeping stats.

Today is Thursday, Dec. 4, the 338th day of 2025
with 27 to follow.
The moon is full. Morning stars are Jupiter, Mercury, Neptune, Saturn, Uranus and Venus. Evening stars are Jupiter, Neptune, Saturn, Uranus and Venus.
On this date in history:
In 1881, the Los Angeles Times published its first edition.
In 1918, President Woodrow Wilson became the first sitting U.S. president to travel to Europe. He lead the U.S. delegation to a peace conference ending World War I.
In 1942, U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt ordered liquidation of the Works Projects Administration, created during the Great Depression to provide work for the unemployed. The WPA was originally called the Works Progress Administration.
In 1954, the first Burger King fast-food restaurant opened -- in Miami.
In 1969, Chicago police killed two members of the Black Panthers -- Mark Clark and Fred Hampton -- in what officials described as a gun fight. An investigation later determined police falsified their report and fired about 100 bullets compared to one from the two men. All charges against the police were dismissed.
In 1971, India joined East Pakistan in its war for independence from West Pakistan. East Pakistan became the republic of Bangladesh.
In 1991, American Terry Anderson was freed by his pro-Iranian captors after six years.

In 1997, health officials in Europe voted to ban most forms of advertising of tobacco beginning in four to five years.
In 2006, John Bolton resigned as U.S. envoy to the United Nations. He had been a harsh critic of U.N. bureaucracy.
In 2009, an Italian jury found U.S. exchange student Amanda Knox and her Italian boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito, guilty of murdering her roommate, Meredith Kercher. Knox and Sollecito were acquitted in 2011.
In 2024, UnitedHealth Group CEO Brian Thompson was shot and killed on a Manhattan sidewalk. The gunman fled the scene, prompting a nearly weeklong manhunt. Police in Altoona, Pa., arrested Luigi Mangione on Dec. 9 and charged him with murder.

It really sucks to be a supervisor and have to tell a contractor that's been part of my team for nearly a year and a half that their contract will terminate ten days before Christmas. It's the reality of being a contractor, and Lord knows I've been through that dozens of times in my life, but it still sucks.

I hear ya. Hopefully they've been socking away a bunch of cash, and won't feel it too much before finding their next gig.

That does suck, for both parties.

Time to punch out, then pick up the oldest from college and get back here in time to get her to work and the rest of us to the NHS induction. Hazzuh!

Absolutely! I definitely don't make as much, but I'll gladly trade those headaches in for less money. Not that any job is any more secure than the next, these days.

I made lasagna for tonight and I'm excited about it. Not something I make often, but it appears it came out well. It's warming up now, because I generally enjoy it reheated. I'll let you know how it tastes.
