Their main school has parent/teacher conferences today, so that's why that one is closed. As for the other school the middle kid attends, not sure why it's closed. May have something to do with the election, since that one is also closed tomorrow.

And one day after All Souls Day.  It's All Saints Day in Colombia, I'm told.  I'm not sure why.  Otherwise, there shouldn't be anything happening today but the rent.

There may be a hangover from the Jayden Daniels injury.  That was so gruesome I expect it hurt people that weren't even watching the game.  Nearly made me toss my cookies.

I was watching last night, but when they replayed it, I was looking at his legs, cause I thought that's what he had hurt. Then, they said they weren't gonna show it again. But I did see some screen grabs this morning, and that arm was definitely not right. Really sucks for him.

At least it's not his throwing arm.  That would REALLY be scary.

Game food yesterday was pulled pork sandwiches.  The missus had a gorgeous bone-in shoulder roast.  I made a dry rub with paprika, chipotle chile powder, and all the other usual suspects.  Seared it in avocado oil, then sauteed onions, deglazed with apple cider vinegar, poured in a bottle of Guiness, some Worcestershire, and a little barbecue sauce, put the meat back in and braised it for 3 hours.  It was amazing.  We're kicking ourselves that we didn't think to make coleslaw until too late.  We'll remedy that tonight for leftovers.

Never had baked falafel before instead of fried, interesting. And I've never had quinoa, though the wife is a fan. I'll be curious to hear how it was.

Now, it's time to take the middle kid to work then get some groceries. Maybe call ICE when I'm done, see what they've got to offer. Hazzuh!

It was terrible. But neither because it was baked, nor because of the quinoa. The falafel was dry and hard (because it was baked? I doubt it), but overall, the meal needed hummus, or more dressing, or something, because it wound up being tasteless.

The usual cause of hard falafel is overprocessing the chickpeas.   It could also be caused by using canned chickpeas, but I can't imagine there's a place in the New York metro area that would commit that sin.
