Let me tell you about my last 18 hours or so. The wife had taken the oldest to Columbus for a concert. While she was down there, she started not feeling well. First, thought it was just something she ate, but by time the kid was at the concert, she continued to get worse. By 9 or so, she made the decision to call an ambulance to take her to a hospital because she didn't feel like she could drive herself. Meanwhile, the kid is at the concert with no way home. So she had to get her first Uber ride back to the hotel. They ran some tests on the wife and came up with nothing, so they booted her at like 1 am. So now SHE has to get her first Uber ride, back to hotel. So I was set to drive down there this morning to bring them home. My oldest sent me a text at like 230 am saying I didn't have to come down there, but a combination of being sleep deprived and her texting like a gen-z kid led to me misunderstanding that I no longer needed to come get them. I was about 30 minutes on the way after dropping the other 2 off at school before I accidentally saw her message again and it clicked. So I drove back home, and am now logged in for a couple of hours.

Fuckin' sheesh.

No, they'll be driving back this morning. And I wouldn't say she's ok. She still doesn't feel well and probably didn't get any sleep. But at least she's not in the hospital anymore. At least for the time being.

Today is Wednesday, Oct. 1, the 274th day of 2025
with 91 to follow.

The moon is waxing. Morning stars are Jupiter, Mercury, Neptune, Saturn, Uranus and Venus. Evening stars are Mars, Mercury, Neptune and Saturn.

On this date in history:

In 1890, legislation is signed by President Benjamin Harrison creating Yosemite National Park, making it the nation's third national park. In 2016, the park expanded by more than 400 acres thanks to a donation, bringing it to more than 750,000 acres.

In 1903, the first World Series opened in Boston. It was a best-of-nine competition, won by the Boston Pilgrims of the American League over the Pittsburgh Pirates of the National League.

In 1908, Henry Ford introduced the Model-T automobile, selling it for $825, and changing the way Americans would travel throughout the country.

In 1918, Arab forces under T. E. Lawrence, better known as "Lawrence of Arabia," captured Damascus. Lawrence would prove instrumental in the establishment of a provisional Arab government under Prince Faisal.

In 1936, the rebel Nationalist government in Spain named Gen. Francisco Franco its leader. He would go on to be dictator of the country from 1939 until his death in 1975.

In 1938, Nazi troops march into the Sudetenland, annexing the German-speaking border regions of Czechoslovakia.

In 1946, Herman Goering, Joachim Von Ribbentrop and 10 other Nazi arch-conspirators were condemned to hang within 15 days for their World War II crimes.

In 1962, James Meredith enrolled at the University of Mississippi, a campus littered with the debris of a major riot that took two lives and injured at least 75 persons, tearing down the barriers of segregation at the 114-year-old school.

In 1988, Mikhail Gorbachev became the leader of the Supreme Soviet after the forced resignation of Andrei Gromyko.

In 1992, Dallas billionaire Ross Perot announced his candidacy for the presidency. He called his group the Reform Party.

In 1995, 10 Muslims were convicted of conspiring to conduct a terrorist campaign in the New York City area aimed at forcing the United States to drop its support of Egypt and Israel.

In 2005, 36 people, mostly foreign tourists, died in explosions at two resort restaurants on the island of Bali. More than 100 others were injured.

In 2013, a 16-day partial shutdown of the U.S. government began after Congress failed to approve a spending bill. The Office of Management and Budget later estimated the shutdown cost taxpayers $2 billion.

In 2017, a gunman on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas opened fire on a crowd attending a country music festival outside, killing 58 people and injuring hundreds of others.

In 2024, Jimmy Carter became the first former U.S. president to celebrate his 100th birthday. He died nearly three months later at his home in Georgia.

It only appears so, because there's a missing letter.  When the letter is added, which is the point of the category, the word takes an entirely different meaning.  But you're right, until you figure out the category, it's confusing.

Afternoon nap lull.
I did enjoy a brief nap between lunch and picking up the middle kid from school. Very much looking forward to bed tonight.
Rest of the fam still not home yet?

No, they are, wife and oldest got home around 1230.  She's still a little out of sorts from the experience, but otherwise, seems fine. The oldest enjoyed her concert thoroughly.
