Lucky Caldwells for ClemsonDave. Not sure I'd ever seen this packaging. Must be a rare and temporary blend.

Good morning, HumpingDave. It's not that I fell asleep mid job, I never intended to post anything at that hour. I just didn't want us to miss out on that jam item.

And right now, we've got Oliva O's at $7.80 a piece, so I'm guessing they're having issues.

I think I successfully troubleshooted my boiler issues. Where's Rick when you need him? I think the new auto-filler is a piece of shit and it is flooding my system. There's way too much water in there.

Now it's $14 Montecristos.

That would be a nice little victory, figuring it out.

I find it even more victorious when the professionals that you pay get it right the first time.

All that playing with the boiler this morning made me more than 20 minutes late leaving the house. I still had to take my son to school and make lunches, not necessarily in that order. The good news is that my commute took me under an hour. Anyway. There was very low traffic today. I wonder why

Today is Wednesday, Jan. 29, the 29th day of 2025.
There are 336 days left in the year.
Today in history:
On Jan. 29, 2002, in his first State of the Union address, President George W. Bush said terrorists were still threatening America — and warned of “an axis of evil” consisting of North Korea, Iran and Iraq.
Also on this date:
In 1891, following the death of her brother Kalākaua, Lili‘uokalani was sworn in as the first and only queen of the Hawaiian Kingdom. (Her reign would end two years later when the Hawaiian monarchy was abolished following a U.S. military-supported coup d’état.)
In 1936, the first five inductees of baseball’s Hall of Fame — Ty Cobb, Babe Ruth, Honus Wagner, Christy Mathewson, and Walter Johnson — were named in Cooperstown, New York.
In 1979, President Jimmy Carter formally welcomed Chinese Vice Premier Deng Xiaoping (dung shah-oh-ping) to the White House, following the establishment of diplomatic relations.
In 1995, the San Francisco 49ers became the first team in NFL history to win five Super Bowl titles, beating the San Diego Chargers, 49-26, in Super Bowl XXIX.
In 1998, a bomb rocked an abortion clinic in Birmingham, Alabama, killing security guard Robert Sanderson and critically injuring nurse Emily Lyons. (The bomber, Eric Rudolph, was captured in May 2003 and is serving a life sentence.)
In 2013, the Justice Department ended its criminal probe of the Deepwater Horizon disaster and Gulf of Mexico oil spill, with a U.S. judge agreeing to let London-based oil giant BP PLC plead guilty to manslaughter charges for the deaths of 11 rig workers and pay a record $4 billion in penalties.
In 2017, six people were killed in a shooting at a Quebec City mosque during evening prayers. (Alexandre Bissonnette, who was arrested nearby, pleaded guilty to murder and attempted murder charges and was sentenced to life in prison.)
In 2018, the Cleveland Indians announced that they would remove the Chief Wahoo logo from their uniforms in the coming baseball season, after decades of protests and complaints that the grinning, red-faced caricature was racist. (The team changed its name to the Cleveland Guardians starting in the 2022 season.)

The missus is loading up the crock pot with a really great beef stew recipe we discovered, so it's going to be sheer torture by smell here most of the day.

I absolutely HATE getting an Income Tax Refund, because it means that I gave the federal government an interest-free loan. I'd rather have to pay come April, and I've always managed to get to that side of the line while ensuring the payment wasn't onerous. The pandemic, and all the overtime I earned through it, screwed up the calculations. Fine. But I was expecting to be back to normal this year. I very carefully calculated, or at least I thought I had. Nope. I'm looking at a $3K refund. I HATE this.
I could have returned 10% or more on that money in 2024. I could have dropped that money into cryptocurrencies and better-than-doubled it.
I shall avenge myself. I'm thinking I'll drop that money into a crypto-based Roth IRA in hopes cypto blows up some, and then I'll give the gubmint a big, hairy middle finger about the capital gains.
The American taxation system is SUCH a sham.

Middle kid starts her second college class tonight, after she took one last year. So I've got to drive her over there and then kill 90 minutes or so while I wait for her. Wish there was a B&M in the area.
