I thought for sure today would have been jam day. It has indeed been a while. And yes, you're crazy.

Think Tennessee and SMU are going to have a tough time adjusting to weather in Happy Valley and Columbus this weekend. It sure won't feel like Tennessee or Texas with high's in the 20's.

If OSU wants to win, they'll need to turn to at least page 2 in the offensive playbook, unlike the nonsense they tried against Michigan.
Morning, StillUsingACDave.

I have trouble when they focus on a sport I don't know much about. Today's puzzle was a good example of that.

For those interested, My Father The Judge Grand Robusto is the cigar of the year from CA. The top 10:

#11-25 coming tomorrow.

I took my first meeting from home and then came into the office. Leaving my home at 10, including quite a bit of GWB and Cross Bronx Expressway traffic, I still made it here in less than 40 minutes.

I call absolute bullshit on CA's list, especially #1. I don't know why I think things will be different from one year to the next, and I'm always disappointed.

How can cigars that have been around for a while and not even be on previous lists be #1 or top 10 this year?
I like My Father a lot...but....
...and Brick House has been around forever, I like it but top 10?

Isn't it the same as wine? You get an exceptional batch of the source material in a given year, perhaps owing to climatic conditions or refinement of procedures?

Today is Thursday, Dec. 19, the 354th day of 2024.
There are 12 days left in the year.
Today in history:
On Dec. 19, 1998, President Bill Clinton was impeached by the U.S. House of Representatives for perjury and obstruction of justice. (He was subsequently acquitted by the Senate.)
Also on this date:
In 1777, during the American Revolutionary War, Gen. George Washington led his army of more than 12,000 soldiers to Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, to camp for the winter.
In 1907, 239 workers died in an explosion at the Darr coal mine, near Van Meter, Pennsylvania.
In 1960, fire broke out on the hangar deck of the nearly completed aircraft carrier USS Constellation at the New York Naval Shipyard, killing 50 civilian workers.
In 1972, Apollo 17 splashed down in the Pacific, concluding the Apollo program of crewed lunar landings.
In 2008, citing imminent danger to the national economy, President George W. Bush ordered a $17.4 billion emergency bailout of the U.S. auto industry.
In 2011, North Korea announced the death two days earlier of leader Kim Jong Il; North Koreans marched by the thousands to mourn while state media proclaimed his youngest son, Kim Jong Un, as the nation’s new leader.
In 2016, a truck rammed into a crowded Christmas market in central Berlin, killing 12 people in an attack claimed by the Islamic State. (The suspected attacker was killed in a police shootout four days later.)
In 2022, the House Jan. 6 Committee urged the Justice Department to bring criminal charges against former President Donald Trump for the violent 2021 Capitol insurrection, calling for accountability for the former president and “a time of reflection and reckoning.”

In that case, add a label with the vintage. Nope, I call bullshit.

Wine, like liquor, has a long history of government regulation worldwide that impacts its labelling. Tobacco products have never really had that. It went from zero regulation to regulatory hostility.
I'm not defending it, but this is not remotely new for CA. Especially for Cuban cigars, CA has always identified good "vintages" in their ratings database. I don't know if they've done that for non-Cubans or if this is new (I don't pay much attention to CA). But we're not really surprised, are we?

NO! Stop defending CA!!! Their list is strickly made up of those that pay to play.
I'm just kidding, Bret. I'm not really that worked up about this. I'm not at all surprised, yet every year, I think it'll be different.

Couple of choices for my second guess and I got lucky. I could think of 3 off the top of my head, and I chose the one I thought least likely to have already been used.

Good for him, from a fellow (former) alto sax player.
