Today’s highlight

In 1972, America's last moon mission to date was launched as Apollo 17 blasted off from Cape Canaveral.
In 1982, convicted murderer Charlie Brooks Jr. became the first U.S. prisoner to be executed by injection, at a prison in Huntsville, Texas.
In 1988, a major earthquake in the Soviet Union devastated northern Armenia; official estimates put the death toll at 25-thousand.
In 2001, Taliban forces abandoned their last bastion in Afghanistan, fleeing the southern city of Kandahar.
In 2004, Hamid Karzai was sworn in as Afghanistan's first popularly elected president.
In 2017, Democratic Sen. Al Franken said he would resign after a series of sexual harassment allegations.
In 2018, James Alex Fields Jr., who drove his car into counterprotesters at a 2017 white nationalist rally in Virginia, was convicted of first-degree murder.

After a slow start to the year, the factor that determines the amount of the bonus has been on a steady rise. Hoping it keeps climbing, especially after last year's, which was our lowest in quite some time.

Been pretty hit and miss, lately. It gets really hard to be enthusiastic about it when you've spent hours solving problems on a guitar fretboard or piano keyboard.

Pretty good, actually. It's not like a "real" mandolin. It isn't intended to be. It's its own thing. Through my 65 Twin, cranked up just to the edge of distortion, it makes a real mean sound.

Charlotte has the older and more rational claim, being named for an actual Queen. But Cincinnati was dubbed Queen of the West by Longfellow. The problem is, Cincy isn't in the west anymore, and was rapidly losing that distinction by the time Longfellow gave it to them in 1854. But...if it came down to fighting over it, Charlotte is a goodly bit too genteel. Give the odds to Porkopolis.

Well that sucked. The Steelers were 7-4 two weeks ago with two "easy" games in front of them and they blew 'em both.
