Happy Tuesday! In between insults we'll occasionally discuss cigars. Join in and perhaps learn something along the way. Warning: don't proceed if you have thin skin but don't be afraid to post either... And welcome aboard!

Morning, muchachos. COVID has completely disrupted any sleep cycles I had. So here I am at 3:07AM, finally feeling almost normal, and drinking Irish whiskey.
Not excessively, but enough to be seriously buzzed. I think I earned the privilege. ;-)

The weather continues to annoy, but everything else is good, so not too much to complain about. You?

Commute day here. Not exactly raining but just enough precipitation to be annoying.

Was quite a bit of fog out here a short time ago, but it seems to be burning off now.

Fog lull.

Lol. Lots of bright sunshine out there right now, but still chilly. 45 at the moment.

I'm going to attempt my best APNewsDave impression but it won't be for a while.

It feels about the same here but claims to be in the mid 50s. Currently pouring but promises sunshine and mid 70s before it's all said and done.

morning Tony, Dave, and Bret. just back from the course trying to get my clubs dialed in. so far very happy.
been busy with Attitude Adjustment stuff. all is well. cigars still get smoked.

I loved morning drinking. just couldn't drink at home for some reason. 8 o'clock shuffle was my problem. waiting for the saloons to open to get a couple of eye openers in me. then of course working the night shift getting out at midnight never left enough time to drink the way I wanted when the bars closed at 2am.

Morning, ClubSodaAtThe19thHoleDean. Glad to hear you're liking the new clubs. Meanwhile, I'm going out of my mind just practicing hitting my 60° into the recliner down here in between bits of work.
-
I know Tony takes the bus into the city, but damn, this is some shit:

I took my 52, 56, and 60 out of my bag. driver, 3 wood, 3, 4, 5 hybrids, 4 - pw, and putter. have never been able to hit a 4 iron and the loft is almost that of a 3 but I have been able to hit some nice long low stingers when I find myself hitting under trees. absolutely surprising to me. I've lost only 2 golf balls since I got these clubs. 😁

They're practically paying for themselves!

Old guy next door has got his lawn mower fired up and he's out there mowing god knows what right now. I knew he'd be the first to be out there, I think the only thing he can actually hear is his grass growing.

We got alerted by the UN but I was already in the office by the time things got started. It definitely feels like the NYC of the late 70s.

Today is Tuesday, April 12, the 102nd day of 2022.
There are 263 days left in the year.
Today’s Highlight in History:
On April 12, 1861, the Civil War began as Confederate forces opened fire on Fort Sumter in South Carolina.
On this date:
In 1945, President Franklin D. Roosevelt died of a cerebral hemorrhage in Warm Springs, Georgia, at age 63; he was succeeded by Vice President Harry S. Truman.
In 1955, the Salk vaccine against polio was declared safe and effective.
In 1961, Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin became the first man to fly in space, orbiting the earth once before making a safe landing.
In 1963, civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. was arrested and jailed in Birmingham, Alabama, charged with contempt of court and parading without a permit. (During his time behind bars, King wrote his “Letter from Birmingham Jail.”)
In 1981, former world heavyweight boxing champion Joe Louis, 66, died in Las Vegas, Nevada.
In 1985, Sen. Jake Garn, R-Utah, became the first sitting member of Congress to fly in space as the shuttle Discovery lifted off.
In 1988, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office issued a patent to Harvard University for a genetically engineered mouse, the first time a patent was granted for an animal life form.
In 1990, in its first meeting, East Germany’s first democratically elected parliament acknowledged responsibility for the Nazi Holocaust, and asked the forgiveness of Jews and others who had suffered.
In 1992, after five years in the making, Euro Disneyland (now called Disneyland Paris) opened in Marne-La-Vallee, France, amid controversy as French intellectuals bemoaned the invasion of American pop culture.
In 2015, Hillary Rodham Clinton jumped back into presidential politics, announcing in a video her much-awaited second campaign for the White House.
In 2018, police in Philadelphia arrested two black men at a Starbucks; the men had been asked to leave after one of them was denied access to the restroom. (Starbucks apologized and, weeks later, closed thousands of stores for part of the day to conduct anti-bias training.)
In 2020, Christians around the world celebrated Easter Sunday isolated in their homes by the coronavirus. St. Peter’s Square was barricaded to keep out crowds. Pope Francis celebrated Easter Mass inside the largely vacant basilica, calling for global solidarity in the face of the pandemic and urging political leaders to give hope and opportunity to people who had lost jobs.
-
Ten years ago: Jury selection began in Greensboro, North Carolina, for the corruption trial of former Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards, charged with six counts of campaign finance fraud. (The jury ended up acquitting Edwards of accepting illegal campaign contributions while deadlocking on the other five counts; federal prosecutors later dropped the remaining charges.)
Five years ago: The United States and China struck what appeared to be an unusual bargain as President Donald Trump said he wouldn’t label China a currency manipulator and voiced confidence Chinese President Xi Jinping (shee jihn-peeng) would help him deal with North Korea’s mounting threat.
One year ago: Police clashed with protesters for a second night in the Minneapolis suburb where an officer had fatally shot a Black man, 20-year-old Daunte Wright, during a traffic stop. Iran blamed Israel for sabotage at its underground Natanz nuclear facility that damaged its centrifuges. After months of lockdown from the coronavirus, shops, gyms, hairdressers and other “non-essential” businesses across Britain reopened. President Joe Biden said he would nominate Christine Wormuth, a former senior Pentagon official, to be the first woman to lead the Army. (Wormuth would be confirmed the following month.) India reported another record daily surge in coronavirus infections to overtake Brazil as the second-worst-hit country, behind the United States.

-
Up to 62 now and still plenty of sun. Time to log off and head out to pick up the kids. Cavs play-in game tonight, which will be the first time I'll be able to watch them this year, since the local service that normally has their games is only available on DirecTV. Hazzuh!

Sorry. I just assumed... 12 is indeed a large number but I shot even higher for you since there were such an inordinate number of music types on today's list.

They'll both be up in the next half inning and we'll see if it yields results. I got it to them too late for their first at bats.
Therefore, less than perfect timing.

Yeah, that was more of a sarcastic perfect timing, since it arrived right after their game started. But good on you for getting it up to them for their second go around.

I thought about adding Amy Ray. If you showed me a picture of the Indigo girls, I'd know them. But I wouldn't know which was Amy Ray and which was Emily Saliers.

They wound up tying and because it was after 9:pm on a school night, no extra innings.
