I'll be getting a bit of a late start so I thought I'd settle the tab now. I wish you all a happy day of humping.

Sounds like a good breakfast actually, if you were referring to the sandwich and not the cigars.  ;)

Same here. Just a cup of tea so far. Gonna have a second in a minute, then maybe think about having something to eat.

Today is Wednesday, Feb. 23, the 54th day of 2022.
There are 311 days left in the year.

Today’s Highlight in History:

On Feb. 23, 1954, the first mass inoculation of schoolchildren against polio using the Salk vaccine began in Pittsburgh as some 5,000 students were vaccinated.

On this date:

In 1685, composer George Frideric Handel was born in present-day Germany.

In 1822, Boston was granted a charter to incorporate as a city.

In 1836, the siege of the Alamo began in San Antonio, Texas.

In 1861, President-elect Abraham Lincoln arrived secretly in Washington to take office, following word of a possible assassination plot in Baltimore.

In 1903, President Theodore Roosevelt signed an agreement with Cuba to lease the area around Guantanamo Bay to the United States.

In 1942, the first shelling of the U.S. mainland during World War II occurred as a Japanese submarine fired on an oil refinery near Santa Barbara, California, causing little damage.

In 1945, during World War II, U.S. Marines on Iwo Jima captured Mount Suribachi, where they raised two American flags (the second flag-raising was captured in the iconic Associated Press photograph.)

In 1998, 42 people were killed, some 2,600 homes and businesses damaged or destroyed, by tornadoes in central Florida.

In 2007, a Mississippi grand jury refused to bring any new charges in the 1955 slaying of Emmett Till, the Black teenager who was beaten and shot after being accused of whistling at a white woman, declining to indict the woman, Carolyn Bryant Donham, for manslaughter.

In 2011, in a major policy reversal, the Obama administration said it would no longer defend the constitutionality of the Defense of Marriage Act, a federal law banning recognition of same-sex marriage.

In 2013, some 30 NASCAR fans were injured when rookie Kyle Larson’s car was propelled by a crash into the fence at Daytona International Speedway, and large chunks of debris flew into the grandstands.

In 2020, Ahmaud Arbery, a 25-year-old Black man, was fatally shot on a residential Georgia street; a white father and son had armed themselves and pursued him after seeing him running through their neighborhood. (Greg and Travis McMichael and neighbor William “Roddie” Bryan were convicted of murder, aggravated assault and other charges and were sentenced to life in prison.)

Ten years ago: President Barack Obama, speaking in Miami, sought to confront public anxiety over rising gasoline prices as he promoted the expansion of domestic oil and gas exploration, as well as the development of new forms of energy.

Five years ago: Seeking to tamp down growing unease in Latin America, President Donald Trump’s Homeland Security secretary, John Kelly, pledged during a visit to Mexico City that the United States would not enlist its military to enforce immigration laws and that there would be “no mass deportations.”

One year ago: Officials who were in charge of Capitol security at the time of the Jan. 6 riot told lawmakers that missed intelligence was to blame for the failure to anticipate the violent mob. Golfer Tiger Woods was seriously injured when his SUV crashed into a median and rolled over several times on a steep road in suburban Los Angeles.

We were considering a week in that area over Memorial Day. Not sure the Mrs made any progress on that front. Plus kitchen remodel will not likely make it possible this year.

He usually goes to the coast...I think Myrtle Beach.  Opposite side of the state from me, over 4 1/2 hour drive.
Not too far from CarolinaDave however.  I was thinking about reaching out to him with COVID stuff starting to settle down.

Good choice, although the market now may not be the best time to buy.  Good to look, but...
While taxes and such are much lower here, you may want to consider coastal NC as they don't tax social security.  Sunset Beach (just north of North Myrtle) is a popular spot, with others between there and Wilmington.

It is not a buyers market for sure. If we can find a nice 2/2 or 3/2 at $200 or less we will take it. If not then we will look for a real home in two years. I did hear that there are great deals in eastern Ukraine.

We love Pawleys Island and Murrells Inlet. The beaches are nice and great fishing. Lots of golf also, but I'm not big on that. Charleston and Wilmington are 90 min away for nice day trips. My family has land by Lake Lure outside of Asheville. We may just build something there, but I like the coast better than the mountains.

good afternoon guys. I had breakfast from Mickey D's and just finished a tuna sub with provolove, tomatoes, and onions.  had a 7am tee time and played some great golf. too bad I had to drive into Ocala afterwards for lab work before tomorrows doctor appointment followed by my infusion.
this brings me to nap time.

Today's commentary from GunNutRaz.

I am completely sold on the performance of the Sig Sauer P320 platform as a personal defense sidearm.  I've been carrying, training with, and competing with a P320 for three years.  Its one flaw, in my opinion, is the shape of the grip.  Grip is a very personal thing, obviously, and the modularity of the P320 allows for choosing grip size. But the Sig grip modules until now all had a somewhat oval shape that I don't find conducive a consistent draw at combat speeds.  The aftermarket Mirzon module was an improvement, and that is what I've been using, but it still didn't feel really right to me, and I still found myself often wishing for the grip of the Sig DA/SA weapons on a striker-fired firearm.

Apparently I wasn't the only one.  Last night I discovered they've released the P320 AXG.  It's a P320 with an alloy grip module designed after the steel-bodied Sigs.  Hallelujah.  I just ordered this one, and a friend pounced when I offered to sell him my existing sidearm.
