I'm almost tempted by Door #1. Haven't had one in so long. $5 is decent enough these days.

I have had my fill of opening support tickets and dealing with idiots on the other end. Unfortunately, I was not able to figure out the Tapatalk issue and will have to open one more. Essentially after 7 days of the site being down, they pulled the plug on me.

I am not implying that I spent the last three weeks entirely working on this because I wasn't. In fact, I am also dealing extensively with Italian bureaucracy, since my mother finally lost her battle with Alzheimers.

for two days I had a new grandson. Jameson Ray (Jay) Serrett. born 1/31/21. my daughter and SIL adoption went through 2/3. on 2/5 they had to take the baby to the hospital for severe drug withdrawal. the foster agency misinformed my daughter on the extent of the mother's drug addiction. it was more than my daughter and SIL could deal with. they are heartbroken. the poor guy never had a chance. the foster program found a family that feels they can deal with the issues.

Today is Monday, Feb. 7, the 38th day of 2022.
There are 327 days left in the year.

Today’s Highlight in History:

On Feb. 7, 1964, the Beatles arrived at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport to begin their first American tour.

On this date:

In 1857, a French court acquitted author Gustave Flaubert of obscenity for his serialized novel “Madame Bovary.”

In 1943, the government abruptly announced that wartime rationing of shoes made of leather would go into effect in two days, limiting consumers to buying three pairs per person per year. (Rationing was lifted in October 1945.)

In 1948, Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower resigned as U.S. Army chief of staff; he was succeeded by Gen. Omar Bradley.

In 1962, President John F. Kennedy imposed a full trade embargo on Cuba.

In 1971, women in Switzerland gained the right to vote through a national referendum, 12 years after a previous attempt failed.

In 1984, space shuttle Challenger astronauts Bruce McCandless II and Robert L. Stewart went on the first untethered spacewalk, which lasted nearly six hours.

In 1985, U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena was kidnapped in Guadalajara, Mexico, by drug traffickers who tortured and murdered him.

In 1999, Jordan’s King Hussein died of cancer at age 63; he was succeeded by his eldest son, Abdullah (ab-DUH’-luh).

In 2009, a miles-wide section of ice in Lake Erie broke away from the Ohio shoreline, trapping about 135 fishermen, some for as long as four hours before they could be rescued (one man fell into the water and later died of an apparent heart attack).

In 2014, the Sochi Olympics opened with a celebration of Russia’s past greatness and hopes for future glory.

In 2020, two days after his acquittal in his first Senate impeachment trial, President Donald Trump took retribution against two officials who had delivered damaging testimony; he ousted Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman, a national security aide, and Gordon Sondland, his ambassador to the European Union.

Ten years ago: In a setback for Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum swept GOP caucuses in Minnesota and Colorado and a non-binding primary in Missouri. A federal appeals court ruled California’s ban on same-sex marriage was unconstitutional, but gave gay marriage opponents time to appeal the decision before ordering the state to allow such weddings to resume.

Five years ago: Charter school advocate Betsy DeVos won confirmation as education secretary by the slimmest of margins, pushed to approval only by the historic tie-breaking vote of Vice President Mike Pence.

One year ago: After moving south to a new team and conference, Tom Brady led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a 31-9 Super Bowl victory over the Kansas City Chiefs on the Buccaneers’ home field. Despite an order from Tampa Mayor Jane Castor requiring masks at Super Bowl parties, videos went viral on social media showing throngs of mostly maskless fans and packed sports bars as the hometown Buccaneers won the championship. Pope Francis resumed greeting the public in St. Peter’s Square, seven weeks after he interrupted the Sunday noon ritual to discourage crowds from gathering during the COVID-19 pandemic.

@LTG - got the new clubs. driver, 3 wood, 3, 4, 5 hybrids, 4- pw. keeping my TM RAC wedges. not the longest off the tee as my playing partners but I hit fairways. adjusting to the difference in lift with the hybrids and irons. always seem to be a club or more short. I'm happy to be able a take quite a few strokes off my game.

That's good looking set, nothing better than consistency, even if you have to sacrifice distance.

I've got my Hogan irons and 4-hybrid new from last year, and they have a "try it before you buy it" program, so they're sending me a couple of woods with different shafts so I can see about replacing my 4-wood. Got the shipping email today, so I should have them in a couple days.

And as it happens, I also have a set of rac wedges. Love those things. I also have a Hogan wedge coming to try, but even if I like them, that would probably be a next year thing. But honestly, I doubt it, cause I can't find anything I like as much as the racs.

I no longer carry my 60° but I love my 52° and 56°. always wanted to try the Volkey wedges but why waste money when I love what I have.
my clubs come with a 60 day trial so I can return them if I wanted but I haven't found anything wrong with them.

I have all 3, including the 60, which is what I use primarily around the green. But with the newer clubs, I find I have a big distance gap between PW and 52, so if I got new wedges, I'd go with 50, 54 and 58.

They also have a "Texas grind" wedge, which has a lower bounce that I think I'd like, but they don't offer that one in the try it program.

I use my 7 iron around the green unless I have water or sand in the way and then I use my 56°. if I need more loft from being short sided I open it up more.

there's this: the widow and I had a big arguement. seems we can't get along together under the same roof for two days. being irresponcible and not able to depend on her I told her we need to end the relationship. her anger brought out the worst in her. after a few weeks she asked if we could at leadt have a sexual relationship.
Sounds like a potentially interesting situation.
not sure how that is going to work out yet. we have alot of talking to do yet. although I'm old, not dead, and not having women knocking my door down it is something to discuss.

good morning Dave and Tony.
I didn't even need to text you to tell you we were back. Good morning, Deano!

I've keep checking to see if it's up and running. thought maybe it would be a whole new format. thanks for keeping it the same.
There are many changes but mostly behind the scenes. I am certain Raz will notice one.
Or not.
At least he gave you the benefit of the doubt.
We've got an SSL certificate now.
I wondered if that might be it, but because I never type the protocol prefixes in web addresses I couldn't remember if the old site went to HTTPS or not.

It always bothered me to type in my password without the encryption turned on. Been wanting to do that for a long time.

Question #2 - I doubt it.

Evening cigar. New one from LGC.   Not bad  flavor wise, but burn pretty wonky.
