Good morning, Dave. Hope you had a pleasant weekend.
Didn't have much on the docket, which was nice. Just a lounging around type of weekend. Youngest goes back to school today, so getting a little bit closer to being back to full normal.

We met up with some friends yesterday that we hadn't seen in almost 3 years. Their 4-year old has asthma so let's just say they are cautious...

Lol, totally understand.

Wife got her covid test back Saturday and it was negative, so at least she can go back to work this week.

So after the boys' travel soccer game on Saturday we had the whole family rapid tested. My one son got a false positive again. We went through something similar during the summer.

We had him tested again using the molecular/PCR test which is supposed to be more accurate and it came back negative. It's always the same boy too. There must be something about his snot that makes the rapid test register him as positive.

So only the oldest daughter is still waiting for a negative result? How are the in-laws doing?

Haven't heard any updates from them on how they are. Still pretty run-down, I'm guessing.

Don't have to wait for the oldest to have a negative test, she just has to be out of school for 10 days since the date of her positive test. So she'll go back on Thursday.

That's interesting. I am hearing so many stories about how each school district around the country is doing things differently. One would think there would be more similarities based on CDC guidelines. Sheesh.

Hmmm. That might need some investigation. But since no one will ever admit that it was he that clogged the toilet, this requires someone more skilled than I. I'll have to get the Mrs on the case.

One would think. Especially when they kept telling me how they were using the state's guidelines for all this, then took 3 phone calls to get the dates right for when they could all go back to school. Sheesh, indeed.

I always imagined that the banter would become so big that I would eventually have to purge the older posts. I have never really noticed a problem with performance or space so it's all still here. There have got to be some classic stories collected in the last 7 years. I wonder if I could get them published into a book of short stories.

Hmmm. That might need some investigation. But since no one will ever admit that it was he that clogged the toilet, this requires someone more skilled than I. I'll have to get the Mrs on the case.
She's probably the one doing it and blaming it on the kids. Trust no one!
LALTS! Almost LMAO but was afraid it would clog the toilet again.
At least you'd have given the plumber a hell of a story!
I always imagined that the banter would become so big that I would eventually have to purge the older posts. I have never really noticed a problem with performance or space so it's all still here. There have got to be some classic stories collected in the last 7 years. I wonder if I could get them published into a book of short stories.
Put me down for a pre-order copy.
Can you imagine the research and editing required? 345924 Posts over 2500+ days. The acknowledgements alone would fill a book.
It would take an awful lot of reading, for sure. But almost 95% of the posts you could breeze right through, cause it's mostly filler nonsense. Lol
You are being a bit conservative with the 95%. Just sayin'.
Now there's something I've never been accused of being here. Definitely merits a place in the footnotes.

So after the boys' travel soccer game on Saturday we had the whole family rapid tested. My one son got a false positive again. We went through something similar during the summer.

All I got from today's stories were snots and toilets.
And there's a jam going on. There, you're all caught up. Morning, Rick.
Good morning Dave and Tony

Good morning, Rick. Congrats on your Bills yesterday. I wish I could extend the same on the baseball side of things.
Bills did well the Yankees are such a disappointment. I'll leave it at that.

Oh wow, we're jamming. Who knew?
So here is something interesting about jam items... It appears you can only keep them in your cart for 15 minutes now. Therefore, if you are interested in something, don't wait to pull the trigger at the end of the day.

I may have jumped the gun on this assumption. Turns out I wasn't logged in to CI. It may be that the 15 minutes only applies to users that are "guests". I guess I will find out shortly when I don't pull the trigger on these Ave Marias. I shall keep you posted.

As a matter of fact, we just had fried Spam and mac and cheese last week. Delish!

Fried bologna and fried Spam are pretty similar, so either one could taste better, depending on your taste preference at the time.

Speaking of fried meat, I was at a small local market last week, and imagine my surprise when they had Taylor ham in the refrigerated section. I almost bought it, but it was the kind in the small bag, and that bag was $11. But I'm hopeful this means maybe it will start to become more common in the midwest.

Haven't tried too many of the flavored ones. After all, I'm not Hawaiian.  ;D But about once a year I will buy a case at Costco. I believe it is just the plain or perhaps 25% less sodium variety. In any case, those 8-10 cans last us all year.

Haven't tried too many of the flavored ones. After all, I'm not Hawaiian.  ;D But about once a year I will buy a case at Costco. I believe it is just the plain or perhaps 25% less sodium variety. In any case, those 8-10 cans last us all year.
I've only had the regular, hickory and bacon. I thought I'd like the bacon one more than I did. It was just ok.

Today is Monday, Sept. 20, the 263rd day of 2021. There are 102 days left in the year.

Today’s Highlight in History:

On Sept. 20, 2001, during an address to a joint session of Congress, President George W. Bush announced a new Cabinet-level office to fortify homeland security and named Pennsylvania Governor Tom Ridge its director.

On this date:

In 1519, Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan and his crew set out from Spain on five ships to find a western passage to the Spice Islands. (Magellan was killed enroute, but one of his ships eventually circled the world.)

In 1881, Chester A. Arthur was sworn in as the 21st president of the United States, succeeding the assassinated James A. Garfield.

In 1946, the first Cannes Film Festival, lasting 16 days, opened in France.

In 1962, James Meredith, a Black student, was blocked from enrolling at the University of Mississippi by Democratic Gov. Ross R. Barnett. (Meredith was later admitted.)

In 1967, the Cunard liner RMS Queen Elizabeth 2 was christened by Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II in Clydebank, Scotland.

In 1973, in their so-called “battle of the sexes,” tennis star Billie Jean King defeated Bobby Riggs in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3, 6-3, at the Houston Astrodome.

In 1976, Playboy magazine released an interview in which Democratic presidential nominee Jimmy Carter admitted he’d “looked on a lot of women with lust.”

In 1984, a suicide car bomber attacked the U.S. Embassy annex in north Beirut, killing at least 14 people, including two Americans and 12 Lebanese. The family sitcoms “The Cosby Show” and “Who’s the Boss?” premiered on NBC and ABC, respectively.

In 1995, in a move that stunned Wall Street, AT&T Corporation announced it was splitting into three companies.

In 2000, Independent Counsel Robert Ray announced the end of the Whitewater investigation, saying there was insufficient evidence to warrant charges against President and Mrs. Clinton.

In 2004, CBS News apologized for a “mistake in judgment” in its story questioning President George W. Bush’s National Guard service, saying it could not vouch for the authenticity of documents featured in the report.

In 2017, Hurricane Maria, the strongest hurricane to hit Puerto Rico in more than 80 years, struck the island, wiping out as much as 75 percent of the power distribution lines and causing an island-wide blackout.

Ten years ago: Repeal of the U.S. military’s 18-year-old “don’t ask, don’t tell” compromise took effect, allowing gay and lesbian service members to serve openly. A suicide bomber posing as a Taliban peace envoy assassinated former Afghan President Burhanuddin Rabbani (boor-HAHN’-uh-deen ruh-BAH’-nee).

Five years ago: In their final speeches at the annual gathering of world leaders, U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon railed against leaders who kept “feeding the war machine” in Syria, while U.S. President Barack Obama said there was no military solution to the five-year conflict. A Black police officer fatally shot Keith Lamont Scott, a Black man, at a Charlotte, North Carolina, apartment complex, prompting days of civil unrest. (Charlotte-Mecklenburg police later said that the shooting was justified.)

One year ago: Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden said the Republican effort to approve a replacement for the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg before the November election was an “abuse of power”; he said voters should pick the president who would pick the justice. (Amy Coney Barrett would be confirmed days before the election.) “Schitt’s Creek,” a Canadian show about a fish-out-of-water family, made history at the Emmy Awards by sweeping the comedy categories; the virtual awards ceremony included remote links to 100-plus nominees. Byron DeChambeau closed with a 3-under-par 67 for a six-shot victory over Matthew Wolff in the U.S. Open at Winged Foot in Mamaroneck, New York, on a course so tough that no one else broke par. Tour de France rookie Tadej Pogacar won cycling’s showpiece race on the eve of his 22nd birthday.

And I have no money to invest so this didn't affect me either. Sure, maybe my IRA took a hit but I won't be able to touch that for about 18 years, so whatever.

Had to look them up. I would have counted Ricky Nelson but I was unaware he had twin sons in the music industry.

Edit: Upon further research, I found a video from the 90s. I kinda remember these two blond guys called the Nelsons but they were definitely not my scene.

They were just called Nelson, and they weren't my scene either.  But I was a Rick Nelson fan as a kid, so I was aware of them.

I have a reserve of cash, but first impression is that this isn't a big enough shit to start buying.  It only wiped out the past two months.
