Good morning, Dave. Sorry to have left you alone for a bit. Wound up putting in a few hours last night and wasn't eager to jump right back into work this morning.

No worries, sucks to be up this early for work. Even more so if you were doing some work last night. Welcome to Wednesday/September.

Walmart is already stocked up on their Halloween candy. Not that I'm complaining, because candy.

Time isn't gonna wait for anyone so I guess we may as well enjoy the candy.

And since we're already on the topic and I really don't have anything to say with regard to today's cigar offerings... If you had to choose just one candy to eat for the rest of your days, what would it be?

Today is Wednesday, Sept. 1, the 244th day of 2021.
There are 121 days left in the year.
On Sept. 1, 1939, World War II began as Nazi Germany invaded Poland.
In 1159, Pope Adrian IV, the only English pope, died.
In 1807, former Vice President Aaron Burr was found not guilty of treason. (Burr was then tried on a misdemeanor charge, but was again acquitted.)
In 1923, the Japanese cities of Tokyo and Yokohama were devastated by an earthquake that claimed some 140,000 lives.
In 1942, U.S. District Court Judge Martin I. Welsh, ruling from Sacramento, Calif., on a lawsuit brought by the American Civil Liberties Union on behalf of Fred Korematsu, upheld the wartime detention of Japanese-Americans as well as Japanese nationals.
In 1945, Americans received word of Japan’s formal surrender that ended World War II. (Because of the time difference, it was Sept. 2 in Tokyo Bay, where the ceremony took place.)
In 1969, a coup in Libya brought Moammar Gadhafi to power.
In 1972, American Bobby Fischer won the international chess crown in Reykjavik, Iceland, as Boris Spassky of the Soviet Union resigned before the resumption of Game 21.
In 1983, 269 people were killed when a Korean Air Lines Boeing 747 was shot down by a Soviet jet fighter after the airliner entered Soviet airspace.
In 1985, a U.S.-French expedition located the wreckage of the Titanic on the floor of the Atlantic Ocean roughly 400 miles off Newfoundland.
In 2005, New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin issued a “desperate SOS” as his city descended into anarchy amid the flooding left by Hurricane Katrina.
In 2009, Vermont’s law allowing same-sex marriage went into effect.
In 2015, invoking “God’s authority,” Rowan County, Ky., Clerk Kim Davis denied marriage licenses to gay couples again in direct defiance of the federal courts, and vowed not to resign, even under the pressure of steep fines or jail. (Davis would spend five days in jail; she was released only after her staff issued the licenses on her behalf but removed her name from the form.)
-
Ten years ago: In a fiery broadcast from hiding, Libya’s Moammar Gadhafi warned that loyalist tribes in his main strongholds were armed and preparing for battle.
Leaders and envoys from 60 countries and the U.N. met in Paris for talks with Libya’s rebel-led National Transitional Council to map the country’s future.
Five years ago: A massive fireball and explosion erupted at SpaceX’s main launch pad at Cape Canaveral, destroying a rocket as well as a satellite that Facebook was counting on to spread internet service in Africa.
One year ago: Visiting Kenosha, Wisconsin, where he toured the charred remains of a city block, President Donald Trump blamed “domestic terror” for the violence that had followed the shooting of Jacob Blake, who’d been left paralyzed when he was shot in the back seven times by a police officer. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said he would lift the state’s ban on visiting nursing homes; the ban had been in effect since mid-March over fears of spreading the coronavirus. U.S. Sen. Edward Markey of Massachusetts defeated U.S. Rep. Joe Kennedy III in a hard-fought Democratic Senate primary; it was the first time a Kennedy had lost a race for Congress in Massachusetts. With videoconferencing an integral part of daily life during the pandemic, the Wall Street market value of Zoom surged to more than $129 billion, higher than Citigroup, Boeing and Starbucks.

Good morning Dave and Tony. I'll be off the grid I think. Another busy day today.
I hear ya, Rick. Hope today treats you better than yesterday did.

And since we're already on the topic and I really don't have anything to say with regard to today's cigar offerings... If you had to choose just one candy to eat for the rest of your days, what would it be?
That's a tough one. If I had to choose, I'd say a Reese's XL bar. It's like a combo Hershey's bar and Reese cup. But it's better than a Reese cup, because the chocolate to pb ratio is higher than a Reese cup.
You?
I pretty much love them all but I have to go with my first instinct... Twix. But boy can I second-guess myself. Love Reeses Pieces too. Oh, how about a Skor bar? I can fill pages and pages of posts with different candies/chocolate but I'll stick to my first "gut" response, Twix.

I think if I had to choose, I would be tempted to choose to have no candy at all than have to pick just one. Cause that choice would be torture.

Now I'm all caught up. Will there be a Page 4 in our future? It's hard to say.

They haven't been able to practice yet this year, they've all been stuck in "Document Shredding 101". Something about an extra credit project.

Lol, fair enough. Though, if you have a firm enough hand, it seems like an ideal arrangement. One can be in charge of cooking, one in charge of cleaning, one takes care of the kids. The combinations are endless!

It's National Shroom Month. This could take our minds off things.
I think CI must have started early in hitting the shrooms. I ordered the MoWPAMs a couple weeks back when they were on special. For whatever reason, the order was still pending 8 days later, so I called about it. They apologized and said they'd get them out right away. Well, I got them today, and they're the regulars, not the maduros. So I had to call again just now, and now I have to wait for a return label and they'll (hopefully) get the right ones out to me again. Fuggin' sheesh.

She even argued with me for a second when I called. It says here you ordered the regulars. No, I'm looking at the confirmation on your website, it says maduro. You're probably looking at the replacement they sent, because the order form included with the cigars says regular.

Just take the ten and tell them to sell you the same offer in Maduros. Win win... 20 good cigars at a fair price

Just take the ten and tell them to sell you the same offer in Maduros. Win win... 20 good cigars at a fair price
That's pretty smart thinking.

It's National Shroom Month. This could take our minds off things.

Don't return them until you get the right ones in hand.

Sitting on the runway in Bmore enjoying a hard stop due to weather. Raining like hell, tornadoes in MD and Philly.

The joys of air travel. :P

Oh, for sure. Earlier, I got 1 email confirmation of the new order they input, for MoWPAMs. Just now, I got 2 separate confirmations for MoWPAs. So who the hell knows what I'll be getting now.

Not sure we're going to make page 6.

I'm stranded at my kids' middle school. Water is pouring through the closed doors. These flash floods are no joke.

She didn't appreciate my words. Two active leaks coming through the roof at the moment. It's gonna be a long night.

That sucks. Water is my biggest fear as a homeowner.

Funny thing is that one of the leaks is coming through the fireplace chimney. Haven't seen that one before in the 17 years we've lived here. That's with the new chimney caps I had installed last year.
