I bought a Mini Cooper Countryman.
Edit: while taking this photo I realized the back window was left opened all night. Pretty sure we got some rain but the inside of the car showed no signs of it.

You're lucky it was still in the drive!
Looks nice though, always fun to get a new toy.

good morning guys. when you're suppose to be on crutches and only have one good leg EVERYTHING takes time, especially fixing dinner seeing how I like to eat and I like to cook. ended up with pasta primavera with garlic bread.

nice car Tony.
Thanks, Dean. The other car is a minivan so this will be a little more fun to drive. I had another MINI 15 years ago and loved it. Except for the time the clutch blew out on my way to CF one year. Charlie and I needed to find a car rental place, STAT! We did eventually make it there though.

It's supposed to rain here in a bit but we're about 10° cooler than you at the moment. There's also talk about Hurricane Henri visiting us on Monday.

Actually no rain for us in the forecast until Sunday. 3 days in a row dry will probably be our longest streak in a couple weeks now, since it's been on and off pretty consistently for a while. Don't know that my grass has ever been this green in mid-August before. Should be hitting the links tomorrow, and since my parents and grandpa are off to visit my sister in PA, I'll be flying solo with a couple smokes. Just gotta decide what to bring.

I find it's disappointing depending on people. the widow really surprised me with her timing.
my cooking does take time. even when I wasn't crippled. may try grilling a couple of hot Italian sausages with peppers and onions. need to make a call for hoagie roll delivery.

Home Health Aide wasn't happy seeing me with a cane instead of crutches but I told her I had no other way of taking garbage to the road or check the mail let alone cook, clean, and empty litter box.

Today is Friday, Aug. 20, the 232nd day of 2021.
There are 133 days left in the year.
Today’s Highlight in History:
On August 20, 1968, the Soviet Union and other Warsaw Pact nations began invading Czechoslovakia to crush the “Prague Spring” liberalization drive.
On this date:
In 1862, the New York Tribune published an open letter by editor Horace Greeley calling on President Abraham Lincoln to take more aggressive measures to free the slaves and end the South’s rebellion.
In 1866, President Andrew Johnson formally declared the Civil War over, months after fighting had stopped.
In 1882, Tchaikovsky’s “1812 Overture” had its premiere in Moscow.
In 1953, the Soviet Union publicly acknowledged it had tested a hydrogen bomb.
In 1955, hundreds of people were killed in anti-French rioting in Morocco and Algeria.
In 1964, President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Economic Opportunity Act, a nearly $1 billion anti-poverty measure.
In 1979, swimmer Diana Nyad (NY’-ad) succeeded in her third attempt at swimming from the Bahamas to Florida.
In 1986, postal employee Patrick Henry Sherrill went on a deadly rampage at a post office in Edmond, Okla., shooting 14 fellow workers to death before killing himself.
In 1988, a cease-fire in the war between Iraq and Iran went into effect.
In 1989, fifty-one people died when a pleasure boat sank in the River Thames (tehmz) in London after colliding with a dredger.
In 2017, actor, comic and longtime telethon host Jerry Lewis died of heart disease in Las Vegas at the age of 91.
In 2019, President Donald Trump abruptly canceled an upcoming trip to Denmark, which owns Greenland, after the Danish prime minister dismissed the idea of the United States purchasing the mostly frozen island.

Well that fukkin' sucks. Sorry to hear it, Raz.

Ten years ago: North Korean leader Kim Jong Il arrived in Russia’s Far East on a nearly weeklong visit. Jordyn Wieber won her first title at the U.S. gymnastics championships in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Five years ago: Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump told a rally in Virginia that his party had to do a better job of appealing to African-American voters. At the Rio Games, the U.S. women’s basketball team won a sixth consecutive Olympic gold medal, routing Spain 101-72. Allyson Felix and LaShawn Merritt anchored the 4x400 relay teams to victory.
One year ago: Accepting the Democratic presidential nomination, Joe Biden vowed to move the nation past the chaos of Donald Trump’s tenure and return it to its leadership role in the world; capping a virtual convention amid the pandemic, Biden spoke to a largely empty arena in Delaware. A federal judge cleared the way for a New York prosecutor to get President Donald Trump’s tax returns. Trump’s former chief strategist, Steve Bannon, was pulled from a yacht and arrested on charges that he and three associates ripped off donors trying to fund a southern border wall. (Trump, in his final hours in office, would pardon Bannon.) Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny became ill on a flight to Moscow from Siberia and was hospitalized in a coma. (Navalny would spend five months in Germany recovering from a nerve agent poisoning that he blamed on the Kremlin; he was arrested after his return to Russia.) Officials announced a $600 million settlement between the state of Michigan and Flint residents who were harmed by lead-tainted water. The Minnesota Timberwolves won the NBA lottery giving them the first pick in the upcoming draft. (The Timberwolves would select Georgia shooting guard Anthony Edwards.)

Yeah, well, he was an anti-vaxxer, so he made his own choices and accepted the consequences. He was a good guy, though, despite his love of Acid Kuba Kubas. He was retired Navy, very generous, told the best bad jokes. He was actually on the mend from COVID, but had a stroke. Sayonara.

Not the mask debate. If your completely healthy no need for vaccine. That's how I feel. I've had COVID-19 and 2 vaccine but you can be darn sure I'm checking antibodies before a booster.

Well, they're banning the "requirement" for wearing them.
Interesting how school systems are getting around that by putting masks in the dress code in various "don't tell me what to do" states.

I actually no longer prefer torps
I agree. Years ago I was often drawn to them, but with frequent draw and burn and tar buildup issues, I've moved on to toro's as my vitola of choice, followed by corona.
-
Just had a bit of a flashback....San Miguel cigars....
Used to buy bunches of them at CI
I believe they were an AJ blend, correct me if I'm wrong.
...now they're Gurkha...
but still available for $10/cigar.
Still good pedigree, Aganorsa tobacco and rolled at TABSA, so Gurkha in name only...
May need to revisit.

With the exception of the Partagas Serie P #2 and Serie D #4, I'm switching completely to the smaller vitolas. I just don't have the patience for the jawbreakers anymore.

We're aligned on the vitola topic.
With the exception of the Partagas Serie P #2 and Serie D #4, I'm switching completely to the smaller vitolas. I just don't have the patience for the jawbreakers anymore.
Other than the Nubs, which are a 60 RG, everything else I smoke is smaller. Robustos would be my preferred size, followed by coronas, belis/torps, then toros.

Hope you have a better draw with that cigar than I ever did.
I actually no longer prefer torps
I agree. Years ago I was often drawn to them, but with frequent draw and burn and tar buildup issues, I've moved on to toro's as my vitola of choice, followed by corona.

I was told by somebody in the industry that the Toro is the true blenders intent for that blend. I don't know how true that is but that is what I was told.

No calories in that breakfast. Hope you get something with a little more sustenance for lunch.

I just wrapped it up. Still have one more presentation to prepare for Monday and was hoping to complete it today. May have to put in some time over the weekend.

You deserve a cigar. Grab a coffee or libation and go outside and chill. Or better yet a walk or a bike ride and have that San Lotano
