I don't know what you don't know so this will be long and confusing. surgery was cancelled May 19th after waiting in the operating room for 6 hours due to suspicion of malignant hyperthemia. they wanted my medical records from NY back in 2003-04. July 16th I dropped off 429 pages of medicals on a DVD and personally handed it to the surgeon's office. July 22nd I took my girlfriend to see her hip surgeon and spoke with him about doing my surgery. I called and fired my other surgeon and on July 27th I filled out paperwork and was schedueled for surgery August 11th. while at the convention in JAX the 1st week in August they called moving my surgery to Monday the 9th, the day after the convention but at a surgical center and not the hospital due to COVID. again I was prepped for surgery and it was cancelled and moved to September 1st. late Monday the 9th I get a call that it will be done on Wednesday the 11th as planned at the hospital and I needed to show up for a COVID test the morning of the 10th. went into the hospital at 5:30am Wednesday and was home with a metal brace wrapped in ACE bandages from my toes to my knee, a pair of crutches, and instructions to not put any weight on my right foot for 6+ weeks. the tendon was pulled so tight they are afraid it may snap. crutches suck. I had a home health aide stop yesterday and will visit twice a week. I see the surgeon for follow up, dressing change, and plaster cast next Monday.

Of course more Lost and Found.  Easy just picking up leftover shit , relabeling and selling as premium.  Why didn't I think of that?
Aside from the other things I don't like about Caldwell, it's the sheer numbers of stuff he throws out there at once.  Just like his own lines that were launched with like 10 or more lines.  (and none of them with any distinction).  Very Gurkhaesque.

Compare with EPC who already had a great reputation, starting with only a couple of lines that he knew were good and he could sustain.

Today is Sunday, Aug. 15, the 227th day of 2021.
There are 138 days left in the year.

Today’s Highlight in History:

On August 15, 1945, in a pre-recorded radio address, Japan’s Emperor Hirohito announced that his country had accepted terms of surrender for ending World War II.

On this date:

In 1057, Macbeth, King of Scots, was killed in battle by Malcolm, the eldest son of King Duncan, whom Macbeth had slain.

In 1914, the Panama Canal officially opened as the SS Ancon crossed the just-completed waterway between the Pacific and Atlantic oceans.

In 1935, humorist Will Rogers and aviator Wiley Post were killed when their airplane crashed near Point Barrow in the Alaska Territory.

In 1939, the MGM musical “The Wizard of Oz” opened at the Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood.

In 1944, during World War II, Allied forces landed in southern France in Operation Dragoon.

In 1947, India became independent after some 200 years of British rule.

In 1969, the Woodstock Music and Art Fair opened in upstate New York.

In 1971, President Richard Nixon announced a 90-day freeze on wages, prices and rents.

In 1998, 29 people were killed by a car bomb that tore apart the center of Omagh (OH’-mah), Northern Ireland; a splinter group calling itself the Real IRA claimed responsibility.

In 2003, bouncing back from the largest blackout in U.S. history, cities from the Midwest to Manhattan restored power to millions of people.

In 2015, Japanese Emperor Akihito expressed rare “deep remorse” over his country’s wartime actions in an address marking the 70th anniversary of Japan’s surrender in World War II, a day after the prime minister fell short of apologizing to victims of Japanese aggression. Civil rights leader Julian Bond, 75, died in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.

In 2017, President Donald Trump, who’d faced harsh criticism for initially blaming the deadly weekend violence in Charlottesville, Virginia on “many sides,” told reporters that there were “very fine people on both sides” of the confrontation and that groups protesting against the white supremacists were “also very violent.” (In between those statements, at the urging of aides, Trump had offered a more direct condemnation of white supremacists.)

Ten years ago: Hitting back against an emboldened GOP, President Barack Obama launched a rare direct attack on the Republican presidential field, criticizing his potential 2012 rivals for their blanket opposition to any deficit-cutting compromise involving new taxes. His comments came during a town hall-style meeting in Cannon Falls, Minnesota. Jim Thome (TOH’-mee) hit his 600th home run an inning after he hit No. 599 to help the Minnesota Twins outslug the Detroit Tigers 9-6. (Thome became the eighth major league player to reach 600.)

Five years ago: Republican Donald Trump called for “extreme” ideological vetting of immigrants seeking admission to the United States, vowing during a speech in Youngstown, Ohio, to significantly overhaul the country’s screening process and block those who sympathized with extremist groups or didn’t embrace American values. President Barack Obama, in Chilmark, Massachusetts, urged Democrats to campaign aggressively for the next 80 days to elect Hillary Clinton, saying that “if we do not do our jobs, then it’s still possible for her to lose.”

One year ago: President Donald Trump’s younger brother, businessman Robert Trump, died after being hospitalized in New York; he was 71. Firefighters struggled to contain three wildfires near Los Angeles, as forecasters warned that the risk of new fires was high.

I started with an Oval Connecticut corona on the car ride to the herf. Then, I lit a Rosa de Guadalupe as I walked in. I was actually the first one to arrive. But Brad doesn't like when I smoke internet sticks so then I dipped into his stash. The H. Upmann 175th kinda sat me down because I hadn't eaten anything at that point. Flavors were awesome though. It was churchill and I didn't want it to end...(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210815/ed18fd89f1881c7e47ea53bbd7d3e7a4.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210815/687fa98f85504f7bcd41a74a8f590b65.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210815/34fd167814a6770a565fc75d32c4db6f.jpg)

From a company profitability aspect, not necessarily from quality or taste.

Then there was the second batch. Started with an Oval maduro from 2012. The cellophane was amber. Next one (unbanded) is an AJ bundle stick he makes for Altadis. It is box-pressed but similar to the Ramon Allones. Might be my favorite stick of the day. Then the last one I had was a San Lotano Bull from 2015.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210815/756f574786dfababd0b45a735971895f.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210815/e6af74c71c25bceed53d87b08ee2907d.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210815/7813c4158630b0620248549d27bf0524.jpg)

Starting off with a JdN Antanio Connie.
Remember this as being pretty uninteresting.  And it still is.  But I got 'em, I'll smoke 'em.

Good morning, Dean and Dave.

Fell back to sleep for a little and then started working on some errands I missed while herfing yesterday. I'll post my lineup of AJF cigars in a little bit...
All good ones, sounds like you had a good time.
When is Brad going to hook you up with some nice pre-releases?
We smoked a lot of old sticks. I just assume there are no new good cigars being released.

No - all kidding aside, nothing new today but he had shared the Ramon Allones before it actually came out. Even gave us an Allones cigar cutter that time. He just asked us not to post any photos before they were officially released.

I would think an "internet stick" blended and made by AJ is better than a "made for" stick for somebody else, like the H. Upmann.
That particular Upmann is blended by AJ.
Yes, I know, but he probably used primarily their tobacco's, and I believe its made in their factory, so less profit for AJ's company.

Making up for lost time!  Good for you.

Agreed  I forgot to mention that one of the herf's guests is an Altadis rep.

Relighting the next day is never too pleasant but that does look like a fine cigar that won't end any time soon.

I got 10 to try the first time I bought some. I'd definitely restock at the right price.
