Brrrrr!  It's getting cold out there again. It appears we'll be hard pressed to find any warm cigar deals on the various internet sites to help us get through it.  Join in this discussion and perhaps learn something about cigars along the way.  Be warned, post on this site and you will catch hell from members and trolls alike.  Therefore, don't proceed if you have thin skin.  If you can accept all that, light a cigar, pour a hot toddy and welcome aboard!

The Sign
-------------------------

A psychotherapist was enjoying a growing practice since he graduated
college. So much so that he could now afford to have a proper sign
advertising his services. So he told a kid to paint a signboard for
him & put it above his clinic entrance.

Instead of his business building up, it declined steeply. He had
especially noticed the ladies shying away from his clinic after
reading the sign. So he decided to check it out for himself.
One look and he understood why. The boy only found a small wooden
board to paint the sign on and he had split the word psychotherapist
into the 3 words. His new sign read:
   Psycho-
   the-
   rapist

That's got to be frustrating. Just watch out for the pricing on the hotspot, we turned ours on for a week when we traveled to OBX this year for the kids to use in the car. One movie and the data was exceeded and it cost us $40 so be aware of data usage

I think it all comes down to being aware of how much data it takes to do what you want to do. On wifi you don't care but when you turn your phone into a hotspot it allows you to basically stream that wifi from your phone into another device, your laptop. So from my experience you get charged as if your using your phone's data plan to be online

Good morning Chip, Dave(s), and Scott. Been trying to get on here for over an hour, this is rediculous! Heading to Verizon to get info on a hotspot!
Trinidad going with coffee.
It's GOLF DAY!
36° but going to be in the 60's when we tee off.
That's got to be frustrating. Just watch out for the pricing on the hotspot, we turned ours on for a week when we traveled to OBX this year for the kids to use in the car. One movie and the data was exceeded and it cost us $40 so be aware of data usage
Thanks. I know absolutely NOTHING about them so I'm going in blind with a lot of questions.
We should just start calling your hotspot a deadbeat now.
don't have it yet! so tired of the STUPID mentality here in the park with management. I can't wait to see what happens when they buy all the extra routers and place them in the park to extend the signal.
Not so much STUPID mentality as it is CHEAP-ASS mentality compounded by ignorance.  There is a difference.

By selling you iceholes oil to run your cars and stay warm, without State Income Tax and virtually no State Cigar Tax all of which allows us plenty of extra drinking and smoking money along with a little to buy guns and ammo.

Congrats on 1000 terrific posts.  Don't worry, we're all going back to stars soon.
No flying Cupids for Valentine's Day? The audacity!
Maybe.  I'm working on other things and don't give a shit much about the icons at the moment.
You've got some nerve having other priorities in your life. I want my money back!

Morning all
What up, Shaun?
Not much man, just getting settled in before a quick meeting this morning at 7:15 or so.  You?
Tons of meetings.  I'm gonna keep dealing with stupidity and go about my business.  I think we're heading in the right direction though because they just hired another VP.
Can't have too many of those.  Morning, muchachos.
It's only $300K or so.  THAT they have money for.  Well in all fairness, it did say "cloud and managed solutions" on her resume, so I'm certain that will pay dividends.
At least her resume isn't all blue sky. There are some clouds.

Admit it, you're just mad they didn't make you a VP. ;-)
And you can't be one because you are theoretically not dickless.

Not at all.  There are about 6 levels between my current level and VP.  I'd be happy to be promoted to toilet licker.

Has anyone tried the Punch Sucker Punch....?  I've only found one review, and the guy makes it sound like your getting hit in the face and probably can't take the strength.  Then on Famous, I see a few reviews of people rating them a medium, and loving it.  I'm confused.
I haven't had the Sucker Punch.  I've had the Bareknuckle, and it's supposed to be really strong as well.  I don't find it that strong.  But I'm not a good judge of that, I'm told.  Apparently I have a very high tolerance for nicotine.

Just to bring the holster saga that TexDave and I started full circle...I got the Desantis Mad Max and am trying it out in tuckable mode today.  I was actually surprised by the build quality.  I expected it to be of thin leather like the Desantis holster I've been using for the past two years, but the Max is well constructed with leather of similar weight to the Front-Line.  The only disappointment I have with the Max is the finish.  Clearly they just had some clown with a spray gun spraying assembled holsters.  The finish is fine, except when you try to adjust the loops or remove them to install the J-hooks.  You can see the bare spots in the picture below.  So the Front-Line wins for finish.  The Max wins by a nose for ease of tuckability - slightly easier to get the shirt tucked and adjusted around it with the j-hooks than with the Front-Line's flaps.  Otherwise, it's pretty much a draw.  I'm slightly happier with the Desantis than I was with the Front-Line, but both are very good holsters.  But I'm definitely going to order the real thing - a Sparks Versa Max 2.

yeah, but flip might make it, I don't have any RP's but as for the other, lets just say, I'm packing.

Good morning flip.
morning BD, what are you making for breakfast.  Because it was so cold this morning, drove my 16yr old to school, rather than have her walking from the train to school.  had a "Carnegie Deli Omelet(pastrami, corned beef and swiss cheese) this morning at a diner, than caught the 8:36 train in myself.
We had eggs over easy, potato squares, toast, coffee, and orange juice.

morning BD, what are you making for breakfast.  Because it was so cold this morning, drove my 16yr old to school, rather than have her walking from the train to school.  had a "Carnegie Deli Omelet(pastrami, corned beef and swiss cheese) this morning at a diner, than caught the 8:36 train in myself.
Dammit.  Now I'm hungry, and the Carnegie Deli is a long way away.
Holy crap what is it around here Whining Wednesday????
Well in Bret's defense the omelet sounds phenomenal. Morning Raz, BD, flip
I'm going to have to buy those ingredients for my next omelet (I needed some new ideas...!)

Looks like Famous may finally be out of the Murcialago Toro 4-packs, sad day
:'(  Should have bought more myself!
No excuses....you have your last chance at Atlantic.  (maybe I should get on their advertising payroll)
We all htought you were on their payroll already.
....I guess the check is in the mail.
You also have some RPs and Gurks coming to you on the 15th so things are looking good
I ain't bringin' 'em, don't worry.  Didn't think anyone was reading the banter at that hour.
yeah, but flip might make it, I don't have any RP's but as for the other, lets just say, I'm packing.

We had eggs over easy, potato squares, toast, coffee, and orange juice.
I had a big cup of dark roast coffee with chicory then caught the 5:23 Ford Pickup Truck to town.

Should make it easier to mix the martinis.
But those thin martini glasses are rather fragile, might be an issue there.
Drink 'em straight from the shaker.  Colder that way.
I make mine in the shade of the vermouth bottle. or rinse the glass with vermouth, then use Bombay Sapphire.
Grey Goose Vodka a little dirty w/ 3 Olives shaken not stirred is the only way I do them
find habenero stuffed olives(or jalapeno stuffed olives), and you will have a new appreciation for the drink.
you sir are having a vodka martini.  perfectly acceptable, but it is a slightly different drink. the younger generation has no appreciation for the true classics.  few drink sidecars or manhattans today.
Shake a 6:1 Gin/Vermouth Martini with a couple of drops of bitters, and garnish with a pepperoncini pepper skewered along with a slice of habanero and a cocktail onion. My brother and I call that a Grunzle.  Modern classic. ;-)
These west coast hippies never fail to amaze me - James Bond would puke reading that concoction then choot ya for calling it a martini. :)
I didn't call it a martini.  I called it a Grunzle.  It only started as a Martini.

And what does James Bond know anyway?  He was off to a great start with the Vesper, then he got lazy and went to drinking vodka martinis.  This is what happens when you smoke 70 cigarettes a day.  You get winded chasing bad guys and settle for whatever the bartender will make.

My favorite is Tanqueray Ten with Noilly Prat Vermouth (Bret's suggestion) and olives
Now that's a Martini.  If it doesn't have some Vermouth, it's just Gin.
I really like Tangueray when I can afford it (not the Ten, really can't afford that..!)  Presently, it's been Beefeaters for me.. :)

I'll take Manhattan...!!!  I love them..

My favorite is Tanqueray Ten with Noilly Prat Vermouth (Bret's suggestion) and olives
I had a chemical reaction to Gin causing me to fall out of a moving car window about 30 years ago and can't even stand the smell of it much less dare taste it agian.
Tanqueray and tonic has been my staple drink for as long as I can remember, probably since I was 20. People don't usually dabble with gin, it seems it's either loved or hated
I'm on the love side of that.  Tequila on the other hand, was that way for me until recently when I started to drink decent stuff.  TGO's fault.
What gin do you drink Tony?

When in an open bar situation, I go with the Tanqueray.  I think it's what I have at home too but I've never actually made one for myself.  OK, I really have to run now.

They do but where I came from you have to come to work regardless of your self selected mode of transportation.  They are just a couple of fuk-heads is all.  One is a BMW the other a ragged P.O.S. Harley of some kind.  Really does not matter if they are here or not cause they don't do chit anyway and don't have the knowledg or skills to even if they were to try.

I found this at the Honda Dealer when my grandson and I take walks.  I thought it would be fun to drive over for babysitting.  :)  Awhile back I found a new one of these on the internet at a Chicago Honda dealer (2013 for $3,200).  But with my luck, I'd hit a mole and kill myself.

I believe it was around 21 degree here this morning.  My wife said her car doors froze.  I sprayed a little Armorall on the rubber door seals, but I'm not sure how well that will work..?  It will probably work for a little while.

Frankly I don't know wtf they do when here other than sleep and really don't know or care whether they are sleeping from home or what.  I do my job, collect my check and don't give a shit what  the other 50 or so are doing or not as long as they are not in my way.

Our supervisors were always pretty nice, and if it snowed real bad they would let us call in and take a vacation day off.  That was in the good old days.  Before I retired, I got a real hard ass boss.  I called in due to about having about 10 inches of snow, and she docked me a days pay, and wrote me up for not showing up to work.  After that, when we'd get a bad snow, I'd call in sick for 4 days.  On the 5th day, you had to have a doctors excuse.  But I was always lucky to get well on the 4th day. :)  And lucky for me, I got paid sick days.

you have to be a knowledge worker, if you can take over your desktop, it shouldn't matter, that you aren't really there.  Now if you drive a truck or move lumber in a sawmill, well then, still not so much.
I have a dream... that my four little children will one day... live in a nation where assembly line workers will have the ability to work from home too.

Hope we don't need any incompetent  IT Idiots the next two days they both said too cold tomorrow and Friday they will not be here.  ???  No chit I just heard it first hand.
Good lord, they're either related to the owner or has a picture of the boss with a goat. How else does one stay employed with that attitude.
They don't come to work if it is raining or below freezing, I am not kidding either.  Go frikken figger.   ::)
Do they then work from home, or does the boss pay them for not working?  If so, I can not work for him, under those circumstances either - hook a brother up!

I think I will drink heavily this evening.  I'm just in that kind of a mood.  Definitely no smoke for me today but planning on two tomorrow.  I'll have to check the RP drawer to see what kind of shape those cigars are in before I give them all away on the 15th.   :D

usually is all beef, but tried some last year adding the cheap cuts of pork, and it had increased flavor and two different textures.  the pork become more tender than the beef.  6 cans of beer, chili powder, cumin, onions, garlic, 4 cans of diced tomatoes with chilis, salt, and two types of dried chilis reduced to a powder with a coffee/spice grinder.

I use beef broth or just make up some beef bullion  for my liquid but you have to be carefully adding salt with the bullion as it is pretty salty, also add some tomato sauce.  Otherwise pretty similar.

When I was in Anchorage, AK, it once got up to 70 degrees.  All the stores had fans on sale, and the girls were all sunbathing in bikini's..

We can all work from home if roads are a problem from snow or ice, etc.... that is not an issue at all.
That always sounded nice, working at home.  That wasn't available in my time.
you have to be a knowledge worker, if you can take over your desktop, it shouldn't matter, that you aren't really there.  Now if you drive a truck or move lumber in a sawmill, well then, still not so much.
Dad was a sex worker so wtf difference would it make if he worked from home or hotel?
I started in Special Services Engineering, converting manual records from books to computers. Then a friend of mine got me interested in photography, and I help him convert a drafting office into a graphic art department.  I only experimented in sex for fun... :)
We might believe that if you had not mentioned "interested in photography"
I do professional snap-shot photography.  It's actually very rare, since most photographers try to make their photos look professional like every other photo out there.  But when you pick up a snap shot and think, "damn, that's a really good photograph..," that's what I try to achieve. Professional amateur.

Now, Flip knows how to make a real Martini

Hi guys. Flip did rinse the glass with vermouth first. I ususally drop in a drop, swirl and toss. Bombay Sapphire has to come from the freezer.
Y0u know, all the martini talk today is going to prompt me to buy some vermouth and stray from gin and tonics.  And some jalapeno olives.

I was thinking the same.  In fact, let me go check to see if I have any vermouth... Or tonic.
If not, just get a picture of some vermouth and hold it up by the glass when pouring.

I have neither.  I do have Tanquerey though.  Trying to figure out a drink.  I may just make some coffee and pour some Crown in it.
Yikes.  You must have some kind of mixer on hand. No fruit juice even?

Ice cold Bombay Sapphire really makes it though. You should try it.
I had a friend who used to love Beefeater on the rocks. Not long after I met him I offered him Tanqueray, he said that won't do and brought me a bottle of Beefeaters.  We enjoyed many get togethers since then, and he passed away a few months ago at 92. So I buy Beefeaters.

Great story and a good enough reason to drink Beefeaters.   Glad he did not smoke victor Sinclair's with you though.

Understand completely. Beefeaters was my favorite for years before I tried Bombay S. and I still like it and will order it from time to time. Still makes a great martini.

He was a character.  WWII vet, Navy in the Pacific, shared some stuff with me that was tough for him to say.  But enough of that, back to the drink recipes.

Not much of a scotch drinker.  I'm a simple man with simple tastes.  A simpleton, if you will (per the warden)

Simple man myself  I drink single malt scotch and Fighting Cock Whiskey straight up no ice no mixer, very simple.  Vodka Martini's with a touch of olive juice, also very simple.

Looks like Tony passed out from his too-strong drink, TxDave is sawing logs, and Travellin' Dave is off watching a Golden Girls rerun, so time for me to say adios, mofos to whoever (whomever?) is left.

Not at all.  I just made another one.  But I really should go to bed.  I made this one half the size as the first one.  Same proportions though.
