You almost had nothing at all. Wasn't able to access the site for a couple of hours last night right around the flip. Tried again at about 2:30 and we were back in business.

Another vaccine trial complete, this one showing 95% effectiveness. Seems like they're all just trying to one-up each other now. ;)

Winds are picking up here. We were already at 32° so now the Real Feel brings us to 14° . Just glad the town picked up the recyclables before I had to go chase them down the block.

That was me with my garbage Sunday as that system came through. And this was before I put it out, it was just in my backyard and I was chasing down all kinds of stuff.

No. It wasn't a software problem anyway. it was a name resolution issue. In essence, the browser couldn't find cigarbanter.com.

Some of you guys that work from home are very fortunate. Cuomo is going to come down with the hammer today on NY. Many people will be out of work again. The data is just not there to constitute what is a "super spreader". Luckily I'm considered essential.

Today is Wednesday, Nov. 18, the 323rd day of 2020.
There are 43 days left in the year.
Today’s Highlight in History:
On Nov. 18, 1978, U.S. Rep. Leo J. Ryan, D-Calif., and four others were killed in Jonestown, Guyana, by members of the Peoples Temple; the killings were followed by a night of mass murder and suicide by more than 900 cult members.
On this date:
In 1883, the United States and Canada adopted a system of Standard Time zones.
In 1916, the World War I Battle of the Somme pitting British and French forces against German troops ended inconclusively after 4 1/2 months of bloodshed.
In 1928, Walt Disney’s first sound-synchronized animated cartoon, “Steamboat Willie” starring Mickey Mouse, premiered in New York.
In 1963, the Bell System introduced the first commercial touch-tone telephone system in Carnegie and Greensburg, Pennsylvania.
In 1966, U.S. Roman Catholic bishops did away with the rule against eating meat on Fridays outside of Lent.
In 1985, the comic strip “Calvin and Hobbes,” created by Bill Watterson, was first published. (The strip ran for 10 years.)
In 1987, the congressional Iran-Contra committees issued their final report, saying President Ronald Reagan bore “ultimate responsibility” for wrongdoing by his aides. A fire at London King’s Cross railway station claimed 31 lives.
In 1991, Shiite (SHEE’-eyet) Muslim kidnappers in Lebanon freed Anglican Church envoy Terry Waite and Thomas Sutherland, the American dean of agriculture at the American University of Beirut.
In 1999, 12 people were killed when a bonfire under construction at Texas A-and-M University collapsed. A jury in Jasper, Texas, convicted Shawn Allen Berry of murder for his role in the dragging death of James Byrd Jr., but spared him the death penalty.
In 2003, the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court ruled 4-to-3 that the state constitution guaranteed gay couples the right to marry.
In 2004, Britain outlawed fox hunting in England and Wales.
In 2009, two days before turning 92, Sen. Robert C. Byrd, D-W.Va., set a record for longest-serving lawmaker in congressional history at 56 years, 320 days. (That record was broken in 2013 by U.S. Rep. John Dingell, D-Mich.)

Ten years ago: President Barack Obama rallied former diplomatic and military chiefs from both parties to pressure reluctant Republican senators into ratifying a nuclear weapons deal with Russia. (The Senate ratified the treaty the following month.) General Motors stock resumed trading on Wall Street, signaling the rebirth of an American corporate icon that had collapsed into bankruptcy and was rescued with a $50 billion infusion from taxpayers. Felix Hernandez of the Seattle Mariners was chosen as the AL Cy Young Award winner.
Five years ago: The Islamic State group announced that it had killed a Norwegian man and a Chinese man after earlier demanding ransoms for the two. Raphael Holiday was executed by the state of Texas; he’d been convicted of setting a fire that killed his 18-month-old daughter and her two young half-sisters at an East Texas home in Sept. 2000. Jake Arrieta of the Chicago Cubs aced out Dodgers stars Zack Greinke and Clayton Kershaw for the NL Cy Young Award while Houston lefty Dallas Keuchel won the AL honor.
One year ago: The Trump administration said it no longer considered Israeli settlements in the West Bank to be a violation of international law; the position marked a reversal of four decades of American policy, and undermined efforts by the Palestinians to gain statehood. China said a 55-year-old man had been diagnosed with bubonic plague after killing and eating a wild rabbit; two other plague cases had already been discovered in the capital Beijing. Beauty company Coty said it was buying a 51 percent share of reality TV star Kylie Jenner’s beauty business in a deal that valued her company at about $1.2 billion.

Didn't realize Cheesecake Factory had an offering. The funny thing about those plant based substitutes is that they're supposed to be less healthy for you than what they're imitating.

I tried a faux meat burger a few weeks back at a place which has a very good real burger. The adjective which comes to mind...interesting.

Processed food is no good for us. Although it may taste good those additives don't do the body any good.

Same here Rick, essential. I worked the entire time and I'm very concerned for this country's future. We were not built on unemployment and working from home, as much as many people have become comfortable with both. We need to get back to work, be careful and get through this. There's a 99.5% mortality rate and we're making like it's the zombie apocalypse. Our country will have a really long time to recover from this as we pay people to not work

I assume you meant a .5% mortality rate, but it's actually 2.2%. Doesn't sound like much difference, but it is when you consider the amount of cases involved. And while we cannot survive this way forever, opening up completely means that 2.2% will translate across the entire population, not the small percentage we've seen so far. And that will mean far more deaths.

The simple fact is if everyone listened to the science and took simple preventative measures instead of complaining about their "freedoms", not only would far fewer deaths have likely occurred, we probably wouldn't be talking about all these new lockdown measures we're seeing now.

Also, my company at least seems very comfortable being able to work from home, as more than 90% of us are doing so and we haven't skipped a beat.
That's fine for your company but it's the rest of the country I'm concerned about. You can find different %'s depending on sources and demographics. I happen to work for a company that hasn't laid anybody off but that doesn't mean the country is healthy just because I haven't skipped a beat. Small businesses are decimated, only big business allowed to remain open, why?

True enough, and why I actually deleted my comment after posting it, because my and your experiences are obviously not the norm.

Some of you guys that work from home are very fortunate. Cuomo is going to come down with the hammer today on NY. Many people will be out of work again. The data is just not there to constitute what is a "super spreader". Luckily I'm considered essential.
Also, my company at least seems very comfortable being able to work from home, as more than 90% of us are doing so and we haven't skipped a beat.
That's fine for your company but it's the rest of the country I'm concerned about. You can find different %'s depending on sources and demographics. They're very different and we're both fortunate, my wife is employed by the company that my employer serves, so we both rely upon one company for employment. I can't imagine that company is not being hurt severely long term by a lack of production. Meanwhile, construction on this site is off the charts. It was one of the only places that never shut down. Biden's plan is to raise corporate taxes substantially, he will penalize greatly the companies that kept NJ construction going during the pandemic, that scares me

Today is Wednesday, Nov. 18, the 323rd day of 2020.
In 1928, Walt Disney’s first sound-synchronized animated cartoon, “Steamboat Willie” starring Mickey Mouse, premiered in New York.
I still have my pin from when we were there 2 years ago on his 90th birthday. Seems like nearly a lifetime ago.
Planning on heading back to WDWs 60th next October.
Taking the grandkids with you?
Nope took them last year. Kids were fine, DIL was a pain in the ass. Will take daughter and son #2 this time.

Quick survey. Which do you choose, a steak or this:

Personally, I'd rather a hunk of meat but I'm not opposed to having options. Truth be told, haven't tried any of the plant based "meats" yet and the frankenstein shit scares me a bit.
I've tried the burger Cheesecake Factory sells. Not sure which brand it is, but I was surprised at how closely it resembled meat.
Didn't realize Cheesecake Factory had an offering. The funny thing about those plant based substitutes is that they're supposed to be less healthy for you than what they're imitating.
Yea, was curious when the BK one came out and they were marketing it heavy. Within like 20 calories of the regular Whopper.

I guess this is the first time we've used the president-elect designation right after the election then? Or do we do that when the vote is over and the results are in? I don't ever remember it being called premature before, save for the 2000 abomination

Gore thought he was President for more than 30 days, then not so much. I'm saying simply that it's not official yet, not sure what (if anything) will come forward but it's not certified yet

Some of you guys that work from home are very fortunate. Cuomo is going to come down with the hammer today on NY. Many people will be out of work again. The data is just not there to constitute what is a "super spreader". Luckily I'm considered essential.
They're very different and we're both fortunate, my wife is employed by the company that my employer serves, so we both rely upon one company for employment. I can't imagine that company is not being hurt severely long term by a lack of production. Meanwhile, construction on this site is off the charts. It was one of the only places that never shut down. Biden's plan is to raise corporate taxes substantially, he will penalize greatly the companies that kept NJ construction going during the pandemic, that scares me
Well, all we can do now is sit back, wait and see, because regardless of the Drumpf/Guiliani delusions, it's happening.
It's happening with lies, smoke and mirrors. We'll see how much can be proven, otherwise we'll get the weakest leader we've seen since Carter
So far, the answer is nothing can be proven. I think there's a reason for that, but you're not gonna want to hear it. ;)
Always trying to tell others what you think they know or want, sounds like an approach shared by those claiming victory prematurely
Well, based on your blind adherence to whatever King Drumpf tells you, I'm certain you don't want to hear the reason. If you did, we wouldn't be talking about it, or trying to figure out what you consider "premature".

No, it's not certified yet. But like Guiliani's law career, it's over. Maybe he could look into working for a landscaping company when this is all done. :D

Speaking of something else that's not premature, hazzuh!

Give her a break, taking kids to Disney World is far more stressful than it probably should be.
Bullshit! I planned it all, paid for most, and the kids were fine. She's always more of a problem than the kiddo's.
It appears a nerve has been struck!

Flo is quite partisan in that regard.

Gearing up for a visit this weekend. Preparing for the eye rolling of disapproval with the gifts I got them. Drum set soon!

Indeed. Don't know why it's been so long. A very nice cigar!
