Post by: CigarBanter on December 13, 2014, 12:00:01 AM
We ain't gonna see another cool date like this for a long time!  Or... You can change the topic and possibly start a discussion about cigars.  But the warning must stand, post on this site and you will catch hell from members and trolls alike.  Therefore, don't proceed if you have thin skin.  If you can accept all that, light a cigar, pour your favorite libation and welcome aboard!

Evening Sir Antnee, Prince of Pasta Fagioli!  I was in Belleville, NJ, 2 weeks ago, at my BIL Rigo's, and was going to call and invite you to come over.  But there wound up being 50+ Hondurans in a little 2 BR apt, so I decided against it.
Sorry, fell asleep.  Sorry I missed ya but completely understand.  I'm not more than 20 minutes from there.  Hope you were able to take care of your folks' ashes.

10 years ago: A jury in Redwood City, California, recommended the death penalty for Scott Peterson for the murder of his pregnant wife, Laci. NASA Administrator Sean O'Keefe resigned. A Chilean judge indicted former dictator General Augusto Pinochet (pee-noh-CHET') on charges of kidnapping nine political dissidents and killing one of them during his 17-year military regime. (However, Pinochet never faced trial, and died in 2006 at age 91.)

Five years ago: The Senate passed, 57-35, a $1.1 trillion spending bill with increased budgets for vast areas of the federal government, including health, education, law enforcement and veterans' programs. (The attacker, Massimo Tartaglia, was later found unfit to stand trial.) Nobel Prize-winning economist Paul Samuelson died in Belmont, Massachusetts, at age 94.

Food Spoilage Guide, A Guide For The Rest Of Us!
-------------------------

Finally, a way to know what to pitch and what to save!

THE GAG TEST
Anything that makes you gag is spoiled (except for leftovers from what you cooked for yourself last night).

EGGS
When something starts pecking its way out of the shell, the egg is probably past its prime.

DAIRY PRODUCTS
Milk is spoiled when it starts to look like yogurt. Yogurt is spoiled when it starts to look like cottage cheese. Cottage cheese is spoiled when it starts to look like regular cheese. Regular cheese is nothing but spoiled milk anyway and can't get any more spoiled than it is already. Cheddar cheese is spoiled when you think it is blue cheese but you realize you've never purchased that kind.

MAYONNAISE
If it makes you violently ill after you eat it, the mayonnaise is spoiled.

FROZEN FOODS
Frozen foods that have become an integral part of the defrosting problem in your freezer compartment will probably be spoiled - (or wrecked anyway) by the time you pry them out with a kitchen knife.

EXPIRATION DATES
This is NOT a marketing ploy to encourage you to throw away perfectly good food so that you'll spend more on groceries. Perhaps you'd benefit by having a calender in your kitchen.

MEAT
If opening the refrigerator door causes stray animals from a three-block radius to congregate outside your house, the meat is spoiled.

BREAD
Sesame seeds and Poppy seeds are the only officially acceptable "spots" that should be seen on the surface of any loaf of bread. Fuzzy and hairy looking white or green growth areas are a good indication that your bread has turned into a pharmaceutical laboratory experiment.

FLOUR
Flour is spoiled when it wiggles.

SALT
It never spoils.

CEREAL
It is generally a good rule of thumb that cereal should be discarded when it is two years or longer beyond the expiration date.

LETTUCE
Bibb lettuce is spoiled when you can't get it off the bottom of the vegetable crisper without Comet. Romaine lettuce is spoiled when it turns liquid.

CANNED GOODS
Any canned goods that have become the size or shape of a softball should be disposed of. Carefully.

CARROTS
A carrot that you can tie a clove hitch in is not fresh.

RAISINS
Raisins should not be harder than your teeth.

POTATOES
Fresh potatoes do not have roots, branches, or dense, leafy undergrowth.

CHIP DIP
If you can take it out of its container and bounce it on the floor, it has gone bad.

EMPTY CONTAINERS
Putting empty containers back into the refrigerator is an old trick, but it only works if you live with someone or have a maid.

UNMARKED ITEMS
You know it is well beyond prime when you're tempted to discard the Tupperware along with the food. Generally speaking, Tupperware containers should not burp when you open them.

GENERAL RULE OF THUMB
Most food cannot be kept longer than the average life span of a hamster. Keep a hamster in or nearby your refrigerator to gauge this.

Crazy ass weekend offer, $99 and they pick a box for you?
http://www.cigarsinternational.com/mobile/specials/weekend-spotlight/

CI’s Big Box Roulette
…once-in-a-lifetime opportunity
…eight industry leading brands
…one UNBELIEVABLE price

Even in a best case scenario, your odds of winning at roulette aren't that great. And even if you do happen to be victorious, the payout ain’t all that impressive either. But fortunately, we’ve rigged this Weekend Spotlight to be a winner with every spin. So step right up to CI’s Big Box Routlette table and walk off with HUGE, never-before-seen savings on boxes of the industry’s hottest brands. Cigars like Rocky Patel Vintage, Alec Bradley Prensado, and Oliva Serie ‘V’ - the best boxes in the industry for the best prices EVER. Period.

Hopefully by now, I’ve at least grabbed your attention. If not, I need to seriously reconsider my career choice. That, or you need to go back and re-read that first paragraph. In either instance, here’s how it works. I’ve selected some of the finest boxes from Alec Bradley, Don Pepin, Rocky Patel, Romeo, Drew Estate, Ave Maria, Oliva, and La Gloria Cubana - boxes that I normally can’t discount due to pricing restrictions. So, even though I can’t advertise a price for each, what I can guarantee is that for just $99.99 I’ll select a box at random and send it your way. Go ahead and scour the list below, you’re likely to never see boxes on these brands even sniff these prices again. At up to 58% off, this is sheer lunacy.

You’re guaranteed to receive ONE box from my magical list:
Alec Bradley Prensado – Robusto – Box of 20
Flor de Las Antillas by My Father – Toro – Box of 20
Romeo Reserva Real – Toro – Box of 25
Rocky Patel Vintage 1990 – Robusto – Box of 20
Nica Rustica by Drew Estrate – El Brujito (toro) – Mazo of 25
Ave Maria Reconquista – Belicoso – Box of 12
Oliva Serie ‘V’ Maduro – Double Toro – 2 Boxes of 10 (20 cigars total)
La Goria Cubana Serie R – No. 5 (robusto) – Box of 24

note: Nica Rustica is packaged from the factory in a 25-count dress mazo.

Go all in, pal. This is a slam-dunk, a sure winner. It’s something you can hang your hat on. Push in all your chips and score chunky, historic savings on the hottest brands in the biz.

Not much of a gambling man...but especially when you don't know the odds.  Probably 100 boxes each of the RP and AB, 200 of the Romeo, 10 each of the LGC and V, 2 each of the LadC and Reconquista and one of the NR's....

This past week I spent some time on Famous Smoke Shop Auction site.  I'm almost out of Kuba Kuba Maduros, and I didn't want to pay the $32.98 5 pack price on the Monster.  Famous was advertising, "All orders ship for $1."  I nabbed my 1st 5 pack on the auction site, and sure enough, shipping was $1. So I saved an additional $5 on shipping.  I just thought I'd pass that along in case anyone uses Famous Auction Site.

Guess you gotta give them points for trying something different. Not something I'd do though, that's for sure.
Maybe I am just a poor man but $99 is way to much money to play surprise grab bag and hope for the best.
I used to love the surprise 5 or 10 pack they used to do on Sundays some years back.  They would describe them but not tell you what they were and the banter was all a chatter trying to guess.  I remember getting a 10er of Oliva 'O' maddies for $15 on one such occasion.

There haven't been enough Kuba Kubas on recent jams?  ...or you missed them?
The sister site had a Black Friday sale of 10 for $30.  But I missed it.  But I overbidded for 1 5 pack for $23 total with shipping, and I also won 2 5 pack out of a lot for $32 total with shipping.  So that about $3.66 each.  Not as good as I could have done, but I lost my head...

I wonder if Famous will give out another free $10 Christmas gift card like they did last year...?
