Brrrrr!  It's getting cold out there.  Or maybe you just feel like you're getting the cold shoulder?  Join in this discussion and perhaps learn something about cigars along the way.  Be warned, post on this site and you will catch hell from members and trolls alike.  Therefore, don't proceed if you have thin skin.  If you can accept all that, light a cigar, pour some eggnog and welcome aboard!

Ten years ago: The Senate completed congressional approval of the biggest overhaul of U.S. intelligence in a half-century, voting 89-2 to send the measure to President George W. Bush, who signed it nine days later. Disgruntled U.S. soldiers complained to Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld during a question-and-answer session in Kuwait about long deployments and a lack of armored vehicles and other equipment. Treasury Secretary John Snow accepted President Bush's offer to remain in the Cabinet. "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott, 38, an influential heavy metal guitarist, was fatally shot with three other people during a performance in Columbus, Ohio; the gunman was then shot dead by a police officer.

Thought for Today: "The unknown is what it is. And to be frightened of it is what sends everybody scurrying around chasing dreams, illusions, wars, peace, love, hate, all that. Unknown is what it is. Accept that it's unknown and it's plain sailing." — John Lennon (1940-1980).

New Car
-------------------------

A man and his wife were driving through country on his way from New York to
California.

Looking at his fuel gauge, he decided to stop at the next gasoline station and
fill up. About 15 minutes later, he spots a Mobil station and pulls over to the
high octane pump.

"What can I do for ya'll?" asks the attendant. "Fill 'er up with high test,"
replies the driver. While the attendant is filling up the tank, he's looking
the car up and down.

"What kinda car is this?" he asks. "I never seen one like it before."

"Well," responds the driver, his chest swelling up with pride, "This, my boy is
a 1999 Cadillac DeVille."

"What all's it got in it?" asks the attendant.

"Well," says the driver, "It has everything.  It's loaded with power steering,
power seats, power sun roof, power mirrors, AM/FM radio with a 10 deck CD
player in the trunk with 100 watts per channel, 8 speaker stereo, rack and
pinion steering, disk brakes all around, leather interior, digital instrument
package, and best of all, a 8.8 liter V12 engine."

"Wow," says the attendant, "That's really something!"

"How much do I owe you for the gasoline?" asks the driver.

"That'll be $30.17," says the attendant.

The driver pulls out his money clip and peels off a $20 and a $10. He goes into
his other pocket and pulls out a handful of change. Mixed up with the change
are a few golf tees.

"What are those little wooden things?" asks the attendant.

"That's what I put my balls on when I drive," says the driver.

"Wow," says the attendant, "Those Cadillac people think of everything!"

Yes, Xmas tree got decorated yesterday which is usually done Saturday night after cutting it down but I had baseball try-outs for my son and a friend (he was over for a play date) and then had people over after that so the tree stayed outside until yesterday. Outside lights went up quickly at about 3:30 yesterday

Depressing is watching your defense outscore your offense. Sucks to waste a great game by the D, even if they did give up too many points in the second half. But we should've had that one.

I do seem to smoke more often than most guys, but then I have so little to do in my life here. I have 2 - 300 count humis, one almost 1/2 full, a 25 count, and a 10 count I use for dry boxing. cigars don't do me any good sitting in a box if I'm not smoking them.

Pretty decent deal with FS for pretty decent cigars.  I have tried them all and none of them were bad IMHO.  Not a big Connie fan myself but they were ok, good value cigar in the $2.50 range I think.  I took some to play golf last summer and handed them out to everybody, no complaints.

Yeah, past several days have been a leap forward, in terms of how I feel and what the leg can take.  The doctor told me I should take Vicodin because Ibuprofen wasn't getting the job done, and he was right.  Fortunately, Vicodin won't be as tough to wean off as Oxycontin when the time comes.

Good mornin everyone!
Morning, NFM.
Howdy Dave - how was the weekend?
Pretty good, other than the Browns snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Made pancakes and bacon for breakfast yesterday, put the tree up and got 2 more things from the bid site. No complaints here. You?
That was depressing seeing the Colts pull that one out - does anyone even cheer for the Colts?  Did some Christmas shopping yesterday, finished my draft-paper for my HR class, smoked a cigar Sat morning, and went to a hockey game Sat night - damn good weekend, another one that just felt too short though.
Get your ass whipped again at the hockey game? ;D

Was just watching this one, UND Hockey.  #1 team in the country baby :)
How bout TCU, think they got robbed?  Wish FLSt would have lost, would have made things a whole lot easier.
TCU and Baylor had woosie non conference schedules and a spineless conference  leads that couldn't make a decision.

Hey Raz!  Glad to see you motovating!!  funny you picked that cigar, I've been out with Bronchitis for the last week & a 1/2 or so (nothing like you've had to endure) and finally decided to try a smoke last night so settled on a CLE Cuarenta Big Ring.  best 1-1/2 hrs I've spent in a while!
Yeah, I love those things, and they have been the backbone of my humidor past couple of years.  Not sure what you mean by Big Ring, my stock is mostly robustos with a few CGs thrown in.
I think it was a 60 rg.  larger than usual for me, but this is one of the few cigars that can carry off the large rg.  definitely a good smoke!  Actually been waiting for the cg's to show up on a jam again.  I've bought the robbies, but they're just a little to quick for the time span I like to have for smoking.

anybody check out the HTC bundle at Cigar.com?  $50.00 + free ship looks appealing.  only tried 2 of the 4 blends there though, the maduro & connie.
Hmmm, the connies are good for a ride in to work cigar,  may have to pull the trigger on them.  heard good things about the Habano.

Greetings from York PA...a home of Harley Davidson and PA Broadleaf tobacco.  Anybody need any souvenirs?
Yeah, could you send me a Street Glide?  That'd be great.  Thanks.
Indeed!  I have way to many Harley Tshirts since the wife thinks it's funny to buy me Tshirts instead of the real thing.

I think the worst she ever did was to tell me a couple of years ago that my present was going to be delivered any time, I heard a Harley pull up to the house so of course I jumped to go and see, I really got my feelings hurt when I saw that it was just my SIL on his bike and my daughter had my present in the car with her. Sometimes they can also be pure evil also.

Just about right and they let TX Longhorns run the conference so got just what they deserved for staying there in my HO.  But actually the conference policy clearly states that in the event of a tie if they two teams played each other in a regular season game the winner of that came shall be the conference champion.

Good to hear things continue to progress.  Fine cigar to get back with.
Yeah, past several days have been a leap forward, in terms of how I feel and what the leg can take.  The doctor told me I should take Vicodin because Ibuprofen wasn't getting the job done, and he was right.  Fortunately, Vicodin won't be as tough to wean off as Oxycontin when the time comes.
just substitute whiskey for the Oxy, medicinal purposes of course!

The family doctor says the good thing about Vicodin is that an ounce of whiskey just enhances the effect.  He says with Oxycontin it's a recipe for forgetting to breathe, but with Vicodin it's okay.  ;-)

Short Stories are really moving at Famous. Less than 10 boxes left after having over 50. Probably have to buy sooner than I'd like before they run out again.
Just use a credit card, it's not real money anyways!

I've already accounted for the spending. It's having a place to put them now. I had to put the squeeze on getting a little box of Sake bombs in there. I need to build a bigger humi.  ;)
I know a guy....
All else fails, get a gallon ziploc! :)

btw, 10 pks of Jekyll's on the Auction site. Current bids @ $50-65ea. Ends in 18 hrs.
I saw one ending today just over $100, anything in the $110-120 range is really good!

I'm sure it's gonna get interesting at the 30 min to go time. Although, last time low bid was around $78

If anyone wants to watch with me....

http://www.cigarauctioneer.com/tatuaje-limited-release-jekyll-2014-cigars/item-47227?auctionnum=1219497
Can't say I"m much into watching, but enjoy.

Well I said fuk-Monday and came home where it is 68 degrees, I got a Sculpin open and a Hair of the Dog lit.
Nice!  Looking forward to the ride home.  will get to smoke my 2nd cigar in as many weeks.  makes selection that much more difficult....
Holy shit Sam, if I don't smoke 5 a day I'm ready for the nuthouse!!
I am... I had Bronchitus for a couple of weeks and i'm just now getting back.  I do usually get 2 in a day.  4 a day on the weekends.

Hi Flip!  Like the Pinoleros!  wasn't impressed with the SS 10 years ago and still think it's over priced imo.  (yeah, I know BLASPHEMY!) I mean, I know they're good, just not that good for the size/price (imo of course).

I got to have one Saturday.

What'd you have?

I had a Cabaiguan and a Tat Havana VI myself.
MF LA Antiguedad

Nice. I still have yet to try mine. Really like the FdLA, and have heard good reviews on this as well.

Did YOU like it?
Outstanding cigars and most everyone else seems to agree
What does Oy think?

Luv the short stories for an occasional morning smoke and on special, uner $5 I don't think they are really overpriced any more than most decent cigars these days.  I have some Pinolero's that re a couple of years old, good but some kind of strong cigars to me, certainly need a full stomach for them.

AHH, good.  well, that settles it.  also taking one of these villagers with me.  wierd looking smoke.  rectangular box shape, no cap, just rectangular box about 5" long.  going to try one of the Brazils (if the Tatoo doesn't last the whole ride).  should be interesting at least.

Lousy was too strong a word.  As Tatuajes go, the Tatoo is sub-par.  But it's a very smokable cigar.

No cigars.  Cold out and I just wanted to get the hell home.  I'm gonna be driving to one of the other offices on Wednesday and Thursday so I'll be having a commute smoke in both directions on both days.  Tomorrow is supposed to be a miserable rainy day.  But I expect that from a Tuesday.

We had a terrible tragedy in the DC area today.  A private business jet hit a few houses and jet fuel consumed another house in fire, killing a young mother, 3 yr. old and infant sons.  I believe TRO lives
in that county, though not in that specific area ... it could happen anywhere, but this was about a mile from the end of the runway, the pilot was supposed to land on.  All three on the jet were killed, MD was piloting.
The wife leaves a husband and 5 year old daughter who were at work & school.  Mom was home on maternity leave.  Sheesh, you never know the day or the hour ... not much she or anyone could do under the circumstances.

It's been awful listening to the coverage ... crash was about 10:45am this morning, and they said 3 people were unaccounted for.  There was hope that maybe the missing were elsewhere, but the car was in the driveway. They did not discover the bodies until 4:30pm or so ... Mother had gotten them into the bathroom, was holding the baby and trying to shield the 3 year old.  She acted heroically/maternally.

I had a MoW Side Project Skull Crusher.  Later, I had a La Campina (FSS) ... nice med. smoke.
One cigar I had a few days ago that was a super disappointment ... Sorry Rocky, I love ya, but the 15th Anniv. toro or Churchill I had was just awful.  Draw was too stiff, but the flavor was on the bitter side ... not very enjoyable ... stuck with it, hoping it would make a positive transition, but it didn't.

Tony, I am sorry to hear it, but happy it wasn't worse.  I've had to make the decision between OXY and something else ... always choose the lesser if it'll do the job ... then I keep the Oxy in case there's a real emergency (like a 9/11 or something) where I or someone else might need it.  What kind of cigar did you have?  Give me a moment to try to remember what I had yesterday.
I was referring to Bret (Raz) and he had a CLE Cuarenta.  I have no broken bones here and the last cigar I smoked during our NJHerf last Thursday was a La Antiguedad.  It was phenomenal!
Sounds good ... I wanted to hear about the herf, but guess I missed any discussion the next day.  Haven't had the pleasure of that cigar.  How would you compare it to the FdLA?  I bought about a 5 pack from Oy and enjoyed every one of those.

That's horrible.  I hope they didn't suffer too.
My prayers will be with them.  That is just about the most tragic story.  I'm gonna call it a night, SLY.  Thanks for visiting.

Well, I started early today, so time to start shutting down for the long commute.  High school band concert to attend tonight for #2 son.  I'll catch y'all in the morning.  Everyone be careful out there.
Raz, sorry I haven't been on much, but I did ask how you broke your leg ... didn't hear from you,
but from just lurking here and there, I kind put some pieces together.  How are you doing now?

Never had the FdlA but I have it on good authority that the La Antiguedad is better.  Ok I'm really gone now.
