It's Friday! Any deals on the various internet sites that are worth talking about? Join in this discussion and perhaps learn something along the way. Warning: don't proceed if you have thin skin but don't be afraid to post either... And welcome aboard!

Everyone should be happy today.. It's Friday...!!! Yeah..!

Yesterday I watched the Kavanaugh hearing. Am I crazy or what...? Doesn't the Kavanaugh hearings sound similar to the Mueller Russian Investigation...? Trumps jumping on the beds in Russia with Russian prostituites, and Kavanaugh is rolling around on the bed with slutty college coeds. Is Nelly Ohr still writing this shit....?

Everyone should be happy today.. It's Friday...!!! Yeah..!
Only matters to the working stiffs! The rest of us wake up happy everyday and just make it whatever day we want it to be, the 5th Saturday in my case.
Morning Dad!

Water has finally started very slowly receding here, final level here was 2.6 feet above the all time high.

Thank goodness the weather is cooling off.. I have been able to open a few windows and turn the attic fan on, so I can finally have a cigar. Last night I had an Oliva Inferno, which I kinda like... And of course a little Makers Mark sipping whiskey...! But poor Petey has to be locked into his cage so I don't accidentally set him on fire with candles and lighters, and let him get sucked out of the attic fan. I put a lock on his door before I get my cigar out so as to not accidentally let him out... Bird and Fire Safety First...!

I just did flip my calendar from Aug. to Sept. I'm glad I did, because all of that stupid re-enrolling into Medicare starts shortly. Now I have to read all of those stupid insurance plans to see if my doctor is still in my same plan (which I already know he isn't..) My wife isn't in Medicare, but will be eligible in January. So I will have to sign her up in one plan for now, then change everything as soon as she gets her medicare card for April.... ugh..!

Did you hear that in California they are going to give the lobsters medical marijuana before they drop them into the pot... I guess they figure if you give a lobster a doobie, it won't notice that it's being dropped into boiling water... go figure...

I'm not in medicare yet but I still feel your pain. I've been buying my own health insurance for me and the family for the last two years and it's brutal. Ironically, years have been taken off my life taking care of that shit. I'm pretty sure that's their "plan".

Who needs a watch? We've got cell phones with the time on it.
About 10 years before I quit working, my old watch stopped working. I thought, "Well, if anyone stops me and asks why I'm late coming into work or back from break, I'd just say my watch is broke, and I didn't realize the time." In the whole 10 years, no one every asked me why I was late.. So I never wore a watch since. And, I only had one person ask me in the 10 years, "What time is it..?" I guess I didn't really need a watch..
-
I wear a watch when I go out (got a very fine one for retirement gift to myself) but at home we don’t even have a clock other than on the microwave and cable boxes, none of which have a frik’n alarm on them!
Time is somewhat relevant to me because I keep up with the tides and what the best fishing times are.

Thanks... Do you have to pay more than what medicare already deducts ($120 I think)...? It looks like a nice plan.

+1 and I add that you could have done better with the 2nd choice. IMFO I don’t think any CAO (other than the Amazon line) stands tall at Jamie’s.

Yes and not a bad smoke at all but just no style points and Jamie’s deserves style. Need something more boutique, something more highbrow.😀

Understood and can't disagree with that. The first smoke I bought at Jamie's because I didn't have time to rummage through the home humidors in the morning. I had two of the CAOs in my work humi so I grabbed them before I left the office. My buddy John wound up not partaking in a second cigar.
Bottom line was that I was not disappointed by either cigar.

good morning Dad and Dave.
yep, just another Monday. I love Mondays.
Good morning, Dean. One of these days I'm gonna splain the calendar to ya.
What’s a calendar?
I just did flip my calendar from Aug. to Sept. I'm glad I did, because all of that stupid re-enrolling into Medicare starts shortly. Now I have to read all of those stupid insurance plans to see if my doctor is still in my same plan (which I already know he isn't..) My wife isn't in Medicare, but will be eligible in January. So I will have to sign her up in one plan for now, then change everything as soon as she gets her medicare card for April.... ugh..!
I changed already.
https://boomerbenefits.com/medicare-supplemental-insurance/medicare-supplement-plans/medicare-plan-f/
Thanks... Do you have to pay more than what medicare already deducts ($120 I think)...? It looks like a nice plan.
I pay about $200 a month for Plan F and $35 a month from prescription plan.
Thanks for the info Dean. Presently I have Coventry Gold (HMO I think). It's $0, but they take the $120 from Soc. Sec. My wife is on a different plan since she is not on Medicare yet. We'll probably switch to a better plan as we get older. So, we all better stay healthy...!!! :)

There is even a little beauty to be found in a flood.
It looks nice and peaceful ... Enjoy the flood..! Mmmm, that doesn't sound right..?

In last Sundays paper there's an article asking to raise $134k to help save the threatened Eastern Massasauga Rattlesnakes at Carlyle Lake. Carlyle Lake is a nice lake to take your kids fishing, sailboating, and water skiing. Geeez, don't you think it would be nice to have more rattlesnakes and use tax payers money to do it with. I'd spend the $134k to get rid of them.. Why is it, the older I get everything seems to be backwards...???

I bet a few years ago, I was driving everyone crazy on here about me needing a new tv. Well, I did buy one back then (maybe 3 years ago.) Well my DVD player shot craps a few months ago, and I needed a new one. I went to Best Buys Clearance section, and they had a LG-UP875 4K Ultra HD 3D Blu-Ray Player Black player rated 4 1/2 stars for $89.99. Hey, my tv has 3D but I have never used it. So I got the DVD player, bought the 3ACTIVE 3D Glasses Rechargeable Twin Pack (3ACTIVE is the brand name). Then I got some cartoons for the kids on sale for $9.99. Shrek 3D, Monsters vs Aliens 3D, and Home 3D. And for me I got Schwarzenegger Predator 3D ($14.99). WOW...!!!! I don't know if you guys watch 3D, but this combination of cheep tv, glasses, and movies, are Kick-Ass...!!! The grandkids are chasing bubbles all around the living room, and I'm dodging debris from explosions... YIKES, DUCK PATTY...!!!! And the Alien looks really great in the invisible scenes. I check Best Buys sale ad every week, and I've been buying $9.99 movies. I have about 9 movies now, and I still haven't watched 5 of them. I'm waiting for Nicholas Cage's movie Drive Angry R-Rated.. I hope R rated is what I'm hoping for...!!!! Well, the wife just walked in with our late lunch... I'm gone for now guys... Later.. :)

Steps for Cutting Eel:
1. Cutting:
The first job is to kill the live eel. The 1st way is place the live eel into the freezer for 2 hours before cutting it. Or, you can put the eel in the wine to paralyze it before cutting it.
2. Removal of the internal organs:
Use a knife to cut two openings, one at the pectoral fin and the other at the anal area, and insert a chopstick to pick out the internal organs.
3. Removal of the bones:
The bones have to be removed for some eels. Cut an opening in the dorsal area or in the back to remove the internal organs and the spinal column.
4. Cleaning:
Wash off the mucus and clean the eel before chopping it into chunks or slices for cooking. Or first blanch the eel in the boiling water and wash off the mucus on the skin with warm water.
A good news:
In order to help housewives with the cutting and bone-removing problems, eel processors have come up with the “frozen fresh eel filets”, which can be readily available in the large supermarkets. It’s easier to do an eel dish at your convenience.
There are several ways to cook eels:
steaming, boiling, stewing, stir-frying, baking, grilling and deep-frying. Following is the introduction:
1. Stewing: Stewing is the most common way of cooking eels, like stewed eel with medlar, tang-kuei, and jingsen, etc.
* Stewed eel with tang-kuei *
【Ingredients:】
An eel, 300 c.c. of water
【Seasonings:】
a Tang-kuei sachet, 2 tablespoons of rice wine
【Method:】
(1) Remove the internal organs, clean the body and cut it into 1-inch lengths. Blanch the eel in the boiling water for use.
(2) Put the tang-kuei sachet, water and rice wine into a bowl for stewing for 20 minutes in a rice cooker
(3) Remove the tang-kuei sachet and pour the stock into a casserole. Add in the eel for stewing in a rice cooker for another 10 minutes.
2. Deep-fry: Deep-fry the eel in hot oil to make it taste crispy and soften its bones to have a smooth taste. Stir-fried eel dishes include crispy eel with curry flavor and eel filets with pepper salt.
*Crispy eel with curry flavor *
【Ingredients:】
600g of eel, 10g of chopped spring onion, 5g of chopped garlic, 30g of all-purpose flour, 30g of cornstarch
【Seasonings:】
1 tablespoon of curry, 1/2 teaspoon of five-spice powder, 1 teaspoon of mirin, 1 teaspoon of fermented glutinous rice, 1 teaspoon of salt
【Method:】
(1) Clean the eel and cut it into 2 halves. Pattern it, cut it in 1-inch lengths, put them in a bowl with all the seasonings and marinate for 10 minutes.
(2) Put 600g of oil in the wok and heat the oil to the medium temperature. Then coat the eel with mixed powder and deep-fry it in the oil for 3 minutes. Wait for the oil to strain a bit and deep-fry for another minute. Then strain the oil before arranging the eel on the plate.
3. Steaming: Steamed eels not only have high calories but retain the freshness of the meat. A famous steamed eel dish is steamed eel with marinated seed.
* Steamed eel with marinated seed *
【Ingredients:】
An eel, 50g of marinated seeds, 20g of fried crispy shallot
【Seasonings:】
2 teaspoons of soy sauce, 1 teaspoon of mirin
【Method:】
(1) Cut the eel into round chunks, blanch them to wash the blood and take them out.
(2) Clean the eel skin with warm water.
(3) Arrange the eel on the plate and add in order the marinated seeds, fried crispy shallot, soy sauce and mirin, and mix them well.
(4) Put the seasoned eel in the steamer for steaming for 10 minutes.
4. Cooked eel with red chili and garlic: To flavor the eel with spicy seasonings is one of the methods of cooking eels. Such dishes include cooked eel with red fermented rice paste and with red chili and garlic.
*Cooked eel with red fermented rice paste *
【Ingredients:】
600g of eel, 20g of chopped ginger, 50g of shredded leek, 150c.c. of water
【Seasonings:】
4 tablespoons of red fermented rice paste, 2 tablespoons of Shao-shin wine, 3 tablespoons of mirin, 50g of oil
【Method:】
(1) Cut the eel with patterns on the top and cut it into 1-inch lengths. Marinate the eel with Shao-shin wine and mirin for 10 minutes.
(2) Heat oil and stir-fry with chopped ginger and red fermented rice paste over medium heat for 1 minute.
(3) Add in water and the eel and cook for 8 minutes till the sauce dries up. Arrange the eel on the plate and season it with shredded leek on the top.
5. Stir-fry: The method is best suited for family cooking. Stir-fry eel dishes include: stir-fried eel with sate and with yellow Chinese leek.
*Stir-fried eel with yellow Chinese leek *
【Ingredients:】
600g of eel, 200g of yellow Chinese leek, 10g of chopped garlic, 10g of shredded ginger
【Seasonings:】
2 tablespoons of soy sauce, 1/4 teaspoon of rice wine, 1/2 teaspoon of sesame oil, 10g of cornstarch, some pepper powder
【Method:】
(1) Clean eel with warm water. Shred and cut the yellow Chinese leek into 1-inch lengths.
(2) Heat oil and stir-fry chopped garlic, chopped spring onion, shredded ginger and eel. Add in rice wine, soy sauce, sugar and pepper powder over medium heat for 1 minute.
(3) Add in leek and stir-fry and thicken with cornstarch water. Pour a little sesame oil.
6.Boiling: Use live eel to be cooked in delicious soup like the Japanese style cooked eel and eel with shredded turnip soup.
*Eel with shredded turnip soup *
【Ingredients:】
Eel with shredded turnip soup
【Seasonings:】
1 teaspoon of rice wine, 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of oil and some white pepper powder
【Method:】
(1) Clean the eel and cut it into 1-1/2-inch lengths. Peel the turnip and shred the turnip and leek.
(2) Heat oil and stir-fry the chopped garlic and shredded ginger and turnip.
(3) Add in the eel, water and cook over medium heat for 5 minutes. Then add in white pepper powder and shredded leek.
7. Grilling and Baking: which is the most common Japanese style of cooking eels. The prepared eel is cooked by grilling and baking. The eel is cut into the shape of filets and added with salt on the top. Bamboo sticks are used to grill the filets. Because the process involves cutting, steaming, baking and grilling with bamboo sticks, the style of cooking demands higher cooking skills.
*Kanto style prepared eel * (seasoned)
(1) Place the eel filets in the oven (190℃) and bake for 20 minute until the filet turns gold.
(2) Put the filets in the steamer over high heat for steaming for 5 minutes to drain the fat.
(3) Remove the filets from the steamer and spread them with the teriyaki sauce.
(4) Place the filets back into the oven (190℃) and bake for 20 minutes. During the baking process, remove the filets 2-3 times to spread the teriyaki sauce and allow the sauce to go deep until the filets turn golden brown.

Two 90 year old women are sitting in front of a nursing home one day, smoking cigarettes, when it started to rain. The first woman pulls a condom out of her purse, snips of the tip of it and pulls it over her cigarette and finishes smoking.
The second woman looks at her and asks her "What are you doing?"
The first woman says "I'm keeping my cigarette dry."
The second woman then says "I should try that."
The next day the second woman goes to the pharmacy and says "I need a box of condoms!"
The pharmacists looks at her and thinks "This woman is 90 years old, what the heck does she need condoms for" but he decides "Oh well I guess I'll sell them to her anyways."
He then asks the woman "What brand would you like madam?"
The old woman replies "Doesn't matter to me....as long as they fit a CAMEL!!"
