It's Tuesday again! In between insults we'll occasionally discuss cigars. Join in and perhaps learn something along the way. Warning: don't proceed if you have thin skin but don't be afraid to post either... And welcome aboard!

Morning, Scott. Back on the bike today? Raining like a sumbitch here, and pretty much all week. Better than snow, though!
EDIT: Just checked the weather, and now they're giving us a break from the rain tomorrow and Friday. So there's that.

Today's Highlight in History:
On March 27, 1968, Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin (gah-GAH'-rihn), the first man to orbit the Earth in 1961, died when his MiG-15 jet crashed during a routine training flight near Moscow; he was 34.

In 1884, the first telephone line between Boston and New York was inaugurated.
In 1912, first lady Helen Herron Taft and the wife of Japan's ambassador to the United States, Viscountess Chinda, planted the first two of 3,000 cherry trees given to the U.S. as a gift by the mayor of Tokyo.
In 1933, Japan officially withdrew from the League of Nations.

In 1964, Alaska was hit by a magnitude 9.2 earthquake (the strongest on record in North America) and tsunamis that together claimed about 130 lives.
In 1977, in aviation's worst disaster, 583 people were killed when a KLM Boeing 747, attempting to take off in heavy fog, crashed into a Pan Am 747 on an airport runway on the Canary Island of Tenerife (ten-uh-REEF').
In 1980, 123 workers died when a North Sea floating oil field platform, the Alexander Kielland, capsized during a storm.

Ten years ago: The Pentagon said Defense Secretary Robert Gates had ordered a full inventory of all nuclear weapons and related materials after the mistaken delivery of ballistic missile fuses to Taiwan.
Five years ago: Lawyers for Colorado theater shooting suspect James Holmes said he would plead guilty to the attack that killed 12 people and serve the rest of his life in prison to avoid the death penalty. (Prosecutors rejected the offer, but Holmes ended up being sentenced to life in prison anyway.) Former South African President Nelson Mandela was admitted to a hospital for pneumonia (he was discharged 10 days later).
One year ago: U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions warned so-called "sanctuary cities" they could lose federal money for refusing to cooperate with immigration authorities; city leaders vowed to intensify their fight against the promised crackdown despite the financial risks. NFL owners meeting in Phoenix approved the Oakland Raiders' move to Las Vegas 31-1; Miami was the lone dissenter.

Think it's played up well on the hype and scarcity (although if it's floating around the Sis, it's not in too short of supply).

I just want to state for the record that if Xavier would have beaten Florida State, I would have won my bracket. BASTARDI! I'll be in the top 10 no matter how it pans out from here on in but there's no money in it.

What they should do it legalize it nationwide, then triple the sales tax on it (or add a flat amount for places without sales tax, say 20%). You then use that money for our crumbling infrastructure, or to fund NASA or our libraries at a reasonable level, or something else we desperately need.

The states which have done so are seeing an increase in the illegal pot trade as the taxes are so damn high on the legal stuff it's driving the black market. Twas ever thus.
-
Still ends up as a windfall for most. Banks make out, any open warehouse space gets gobbled up at premium prices.

Sounds more like an issue of pricing to me. If the illegal stuff is cheaper than the legal stuff, then of course that will be where people gravitate. But if you can mass produce it and it is sold nationwide, then that price (likely) becomes cheaper than the illegal stuff. Now the illegal pot trade is limited to the truly high and those bad at math.

Anybody here get an email like this or know anything about it?
Hey there!
My name is Scott. You probably don’t know me, and I don’t want to come across as creepy, but hang in there with me for a moment, and I will explain the reason for my email.
I own Daily Cigar Deals, which aggregates the best cigar deals from 50 different retailers, so cigar lovers can find the best deal to save money on their cigar purchases.
I recently ran a contest online, and asked current fans to recommend people they know who loves cigars, and would benefit from Daily Cigar Deals.
That’s how I got your email :)
Edit: Website looks legit

Think it will be the difference between buying premium cigars and generic, unlabeled or machine made. You'll know exactly what you're getting with one and be able to select variety and consistency. Off the street will always be a crap-shoot.
