It's Tuesday again! In between insults we'll occasionally discuss cigars.  Join in and perhaps learn something along the way. Warning: don't proceed if you have thin skin but don't be afraid to post either... And welcome aboard!

Morning, all. Seems like the sis doesn't do a midnight flip anymore. More like 8-8:30, when IT rolls out of bed.

Well, yes and no...It's the original deal from yesterday (before they changed it) with the price on the Zulu Zulu's corrected, but the Torano's still at full list.  Just weird.

Today is Tuesday, Jan. 23, the 23rd day of 2018. There are 342 days left in the year.
Today's Highlight in History:
On Jan. 23, 1968, North Korea seized the U.S. Navy intelligence ship USS Pueblo, commanded by Lloyd "Pete" Bucher, charging its crew with being on a spying mission; one sailor was killed and 82 were taken prisoner. (Cmdr. Bucher and his crew were released the following December after enduring 11 months of brutal captivity at the hands of the North Koreans.)
On this date:
In 1368, China's Ming dynasty, which lasted nearly three centuries, began as Zhu Yuanzhang was formally acclaimed emperor following the collapse of the Yuan dynasty.
In 1516, King Ferdinand II of Aragon, who with his late queen consort, Isabella of Castile, sponsored the first voyage of Christopher Columbus in 1492, died in Madrigalejo, Spain.
In 1789, Georgetown University was established in present-day Washington, D.C.
In 1845, Congress decided all national elections would be held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November.
In 1933, the 20th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, the so-called "Lame Duck Amendment," was ratified as Missouri approved it.
In 1944, Norwegian painter Edvard Munch ("The Scream") died near Oslo at age 80.
In 1950, the Israeli Knesset approved a resolution affirming Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
In 1964, the 24th Amendment to the United States Constitution, eliminating the poll tax in federal elections, was ratified as South Dakota became the 38th state to endorse it.
In 1977, the original TV mini-series "Roots," based on the Alex Haley novel, began airing on ABC.
In 1978, rock musician Terry Kath, a key member of the group Chicago, accidentally shot himself to death following a party in Woodland Hills, California; he was 31.
In 1989, surrealist artist Salvador Dali died in his native Figueres, Spain, at age 84.
In 1998, a judge in Fairfax, Virginia, sentenced Aimal Khan Kasi (eye-MAHL' kahn KAH'-see) to death for an assault rifle attack outside CIA headquarters in 1993 that killed two men and wounded three other people. (Kasi was executed in November 2002.)

Ten years ago: Tens of thousands of Palestinians poured into Egypt from the Gaza Strip after militants blew up a barrier dividing the border town of Rafah. Michael Chang, winner of the 1989 French Open, was elected to the International Tennis Hall of Fame, and IMG creator Mark McCormack and Tennis Week magazine founder Eugene Scott were selected posthumously.

Five years ago: Appearing before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton delivered fiery rejoinders to Republican critics of the Obama administration's handling of the deadly attack on a U.S. mission in Benghazi, Libya. Cardinal Jozef Glemp, 83, the longtime head of Poland's influential Roman Catholic church at a time when it played a key role in the fight against communism, died in Warsaw.

One year ago: President Donald Trump withdrew the United States from the sweeping Trans-Pacific Partnership trade pact, using one of his first actions in office to reject a proposed accord that was eagerly sought by American allies in Asia. Kansas Rep. Mike Pompeo was sworn in as CIA director immediately after the Senate confirmed his nomination, 66-32. Kim Clijsters and Andy Roddick were elected to the International Tennis Hall of Fame.

That's what I'm always afraid when you have a flavorful cigar, then they come out with a connie version. That's why I've yet to try to Uncut connie.

I like the Uncut connie because it seems to have the same blend under the wrapper so that while the connie wrapper calms it down some, it still has some of the kick and flavor as the regular Uncut. imo.  But i agree with you in 90% of cigars that have come out with a connie version.  most of the time they do seem to breed the kick out of it.

I find myself trying to like connies but they just don't do it for my palate. The exception for me being the EPC New Wave Reservas. I also rarely smoke in the morning so I usually feel like my time was wasted on a connie. The Luminosa was also good though

Morning, LTG.
We all remind ourselves of that.
Which is exactly how we prefer everyone to think.

a bit mild for my taste, and nothing like the Undercrown, but not bad for a morning smoke. right now my coffee is overtaking the cigars flavors.
That's what I'm always afraid when you have a flavorful cigar, then they come out with a connie version. That's why I've yet to try to Uncut connie.
it wasn't bad, just not worth the price.

For the Jersey Boys, came across this....looks nice but a bit out of the way for all of us...
http://joescigars.com/
Looks nice but members only. The trend seems to be the whole "high-end cigar experience" which will cater to the less serious smoker

Edit: Also the website looks like shit, I hate the site menu with unfinished cigars behind it. Thanks for posting it though lol
Guess you weren't one of the people anticipating it that much.
Tough to compete with Somerville!
Exactly, although you need a rain slicker in their humidor room

Have a safe commute. It was supposed to be raining all day. Instead, it's almost 60° and dry out there. It appears I will also be smoking something on the way home.

I know I was away for a while, and there are a few less faces here, so i'm not up on some things... although I'm hesitant to ask, not being particularly nosy, but, what happened to BD and LSU?  are they ok and just not here anymore, or...
If, for some reason, i'm out of line, or this is sensitive, then i apologize and retract the question.
BD as with many just seems to have lost interest.  He still drops in once in a blue moon (which come to think of it is next week!)
LSU may have been bothered but some things said, and with his move and retirement, seems to be turning over a new leaf.
LSU (Chip) was taking care of his family and dropped off. I don't believe Sam meant SCDave.
No, to my embarrassment, I was in on the SCDave issue.  You're right, it was Chip I was asking about.
Must be said that Scarfish taking offense at something said here and leaving would be irony on a Biblical scale.
I shall defer to you for Biblical scale measurements.   :D

The banter.... irony wrapped in an enigma, surrounded by misery......(to paraphrase kinda)

Wound up not taking a chance and immediately regretting it. Sheesh on me.
