Morning muchachos.  Well, evening here still.  Got my deer rifles sighted in today; also zeroed the Vortex laser-dot sight on the Windham scary black rifle.  Visited the site of my accident.  They've got big chain-link doors over the trench now.  Still made me a little squirrely to be that close.

Today is Monday, Nov. 6, the 310th day of 2017. There are 55 days left in the year.

Today's Highlight in History:

On Nov. 6, 1977, 39 people were killed when the Kelly Barnes Dam in Georgia burst, sending a wall of water through Toccoa Falls College.

On this date:

In 1860, former Illinois congressman Abraham Lincoln of the Republican Party was elected President of the United States as he defeated John Breckinridge, John Bell and Stephen Douglas.

In 1861, Confederate President Jefferson Davis was elected to a six-year term of office.

In 1906, Republican Charles Evans Hughes was elected governor of New York, defeating newspaper publisher William Randolph Hearst.

In 1928, in a first, the results of Republican Herbert Hoover's presidential election victory over Democrat Alfred E. Smith were flashed onto an electric wraparound sign on the New York Times building.

In 1934, Nebraska voters approved dissolving their two-chamber legislature in favor of a nonpartisan, single (or "unicameral") legislative body, which was implemented in 1937.

In 1947, "Meet the Press" made its debut on NBC; the first guest was James A. Farley, former postmaster general and former Democratic National Committee Chair; the host was the show's co-creator, Martha Rountree.

In 1956, President Dwight D. Eisenhower won re-election, defeating Democrat Adlai E. Stevenson.

In 1962, Democrat Edward M. Kennedy was elected Senator from Massachusetts.

In 1976, Benjamin L. Hooks was chosen to be the new executive director of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, succeeding Roy Wilkins.

In 1984, President Ronald Reagan won re-election by a landslide over former Vice President Walter Mondale, the Democratic challenger.

In 1986, former Navy radioman John A. Walker Jr., the admitted head of a family spy ring, was sentenced in Baltimore to life imprisonment. (Walker died in prison in 2014 at age 77.)

In 1990, about one-fifth of the Universal Studios backlot in southern California was destroyed in an arson fire.

Ten years ago: Six lawmakers were killed by a suicide bomber in northern Afghanistan during a visit to a sugar factory; 61 students also died as a result of the bombing and shots fired by guards. Country singer Hank Thompson died in Keller, Texas, at age 82. George Osmond, father of Donny and Marie Osmond and patriarch to the family's singing group The Osmond Brothers, died in Provo, Utah, at age 90.

Five years ago: President Barack Obama rolled to re-election, vanquishing Republican Mitt Romney as he picked up 332 electoral votes compared to 206 for the former Massachusetts governor; Obama also received 51 percent of the popular vote as opposed to 47 percent for Romney.

One year ago: FBI Director James Comey abruptly announced that Democrat Hillary Clinton should not face criminal charges related to newly discovered emails from her tenure at the State Department. Eritrea's Ghirmay Ghebreslassie (ghir-MY' geb-rah-SLAH'-say) and Kenya's Mary Keitany (kuh-TAHN'-ee) won the New York City Marathon.

We just bought a Electrolux front loading washer at Reno's, cause:
1. We have bought most of our appliances there,
2. I was told "I don't do the laundry, so I have no say in what we buy!",
3. Lowes and Home Depot offer free delivery, and we don't want that.
4. Since I have Lowes, and Home depot Credit cards, with 5% off, or no interest for major purchases, it doesn't make sense to shop there.
5. Since she made the decisions, I let her put it on her MasterCard.
6. I got to pick where we had lunch, a local brew house, and
I had a dozen oysters, and pulled pork sliders.  She was so happy to spend
hundreds more on a washer, then needed,
I got to go to a place, she has been saying no to since it opened.

Both are good, depends on personal preference and choices of whistles and bells.  Frigidaire and Kitchen-Aid also solid.  Some questions with Samsung diswashers.

Gearing up for pre black Friday sales...

Target already has a shopping list out, including a $250 55" TV!

The 40-page ad includes a 55-inch Westinghouse 4K television for $249.99, more than $25 less than Black Friday predictions. This Smart TV will only be available in-store.

to file a Small Claims case against my old landlord it will cost me about $200 more than he owes me. it only goes to mediation and if the judgement is in my favor there is no governing body to force him to pay without having to pay a third party to collect. WTF. so every morning I will post his photo on FB publicly and say a little 'truth' about him.
Well, he *looks like a scumbag.
As I said when this all started- he told you up front he did not even own the house and was a crook defrauding the federal government thus requiring cash payments.
I agree, totally my fault. I'll just pay myself back in a few months, dollar down, dollar a month.

Got to decide on kitchen appliances today, Lowes and Home Depot have some good sales going.

Anybody got any positive or negative thoughts/experiences  on Samsung or LG?  They seem to have the best overall designs.
not me, I use to buy LG, now I shop for price. that Amana washer I bought so far is nice.
Amana along with KitchenAid, Maytag, Jenn-Air and several others are all owned by Whirlpool now.
Where'd you go for lunch?
Midland brew House,  http://www.midlandbrewhouse.com/ (http://www.midlandbrewhouse.com/)
Looks nice. Be cooler if they had an outdoor smoking area.

Donna Brazile has risen to the top of my list of favorite democrats, lonely place though because there are no more on the list.

Former Democratic National Committee (DNC) interim chair Donna Brazile levied sexism allegations against top male staffers on the Hillary Clinton presidential campaign in a newly obtained excerpt of her upcoming book, in which she claims to have responded to their behavior by challenging the men to expose their genitals.

“Gentlemen, let’s just put our dicks out on the table and see who’s got the bigger one, because I know mine is bigger than all of yours,” Brazile writes in the sixth chapter of her tell all book “Hacks,” obtained by the Huffington Post.

Brazile claims the sexist behavior occurred during a conference call amidst an argument regarding the possibility of hiring a CEO to rehabilitate the financially struggling DNC. The top male aides dismissed her desire to bring on a CEO because of her gender, she said and responded by challenging their collective phallic endowment.

Samsung dual flex electric range selected, hate electric stoves but no other option in condos.

Refrigeraters narrowed down to 3.

Dishwasher up in the air still, personally I would much prefer to put an ice maker in that spot but guess who did not respond politely to that suggestion. ::). A KitchenAid dishwasher looks pretty good along with a couple of Bosch's.

Don't do the Bosch.  We have one.  Racks are oddly shaped (f'kn Germans), and they rust prematurely.  Plus not quiet when it is filling or discharging water, despite sound claims to the contrary. Also, only cleans well on the "heavy duty" cycle.  We'll probably get a KitchenAid when we move.

They might be made on the same assembly line.

Edit: Maybe I'm confusing Bosch with some other hoity-toity brand but my brother's dishwasher looks very similar to my Kenmore.

Bosch has always been considered a premium product, but I don't know of anyone that is particularly happy with one they own.
