It's Tuesday again! In between insults we'll occasionally discuss cigars.  Join in and perhaps learn something along the way. Warning: don't proceed if you have thin skin but don't be afraid to post either... And welcome aboard!

Today is Tuesday, Feb. 7, the 38th day of 2017. There are 327 days left in the year.

Today's Highlight in History:

On Feb. 7, 1817, America's first public gas street lamp was lighted in Baltimore at the corner of Market and Lemon streets (now East Baltimore and Holliday streets).

On this date:

In 1795, the 11th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, dealing with states' sovereign immunity, was ratified.

In 1857, a French court acquitted author Gustave Flaubert of obscenity for his serialized novel "Madame Bovary."

In 1931, aviator Amelia Earhart married publisher George P. Putnam in Noank, Connecticut.

In 1936, President Franklin D. Roosevelt authorized a flag for the office of the vice president.

In 1948, Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower resigned as Army chief of staff; he was succeeded by Gen. Omar Bradley.

In 1962, President John F. Kennedy imposed a full trade embargo on Cuba.

In 1971, women in Switzerland gained the right to vote through a national referendum, 12 years after a previous attempt failed.

In 1984, space shuttle Challenger astronauts Bruce McCandless II and Robert L. Stewart went on the first untethered spacewalk, which lasted nearly six hours.

In 1986, the Philippines held a presidential election marred by charges of fraud against the incumbent, Ferdinand E. Marcos. Haitian President-for-Life Jean-Claude Duvalier (doo-VAHL-yay') fled his country, ending 28 years of his family's rule.

In 1991, Jean-Bertrand Aristide (zhahn behr-TRAHN' ahr-ihs-TEED') was inaugurated as the first democratically elected president of Haiti (he was overthrown by the military the following September).

In 1992, European Community members signed the Maastricht Treaty, which led to creation of the euro.

In 1999, Jordan's King Hussein died of cancer at age 63; he was succeeded by his eldest son, Abdullah.

Ten years ago: U.S. officials confirmed a new security operation was under way in Baghdad; U.S. armor rushed through streets, and Iraqi armored personnel carriers guarded bridges and major intersections. A Marine CH-46 Sea Knight helicopter was shot down by insurgents northwest of Baghdad, killing all seven people on board. The Food and Drug Administration approved alli (AL'-eye), a diet pill that could be bought without a prescription.

Five years ago: In a setback for Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum swept GOP caucuses in Minnesota and Colorado and a non-binding primary in Missouri. A federal appeals court ruled California's ban on same-sex marriage was unconstitutional, but gave gay marriage opponents time to appeal the decision before ordering the state to allow such weddings to resume.

One year ago: Von Miller forced two fumbles to set up Denver's two touchdowns and the Broncos defense frustrated Cam Newton all game to carry Peyton Manning to his second NFL championship with a 24-10 victory over the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50. North Korea defied international warnings and launched a long-range rocket that the United Nations and others called a cover for a banned test of technology for a missile that could strike the U.S. mainland.

Agree as well.  A very interesting city....just not to live.  Then there is SLC and Des Moines....not interesting or particularly appealing to live or visit.  Fayetteville, nice enough, but nothing special.  Raleigh-Durham is not particularly nice unless you're way out in the suburbs...and that isn't really the city then is it?

Morning, muchachos.  Telecommuting again.  Went out early this morning to get the Suburban warming up and defrosting, and the whole neighborhood was iced solid.  Took me an hour to get the 'Burb in a driveable state and unstuck from the ice and snow.  Made a quick run into town, stopping to help a couple of stuck motorists along the way. Picked up a dozen donuts, then came home.  Nasty out there.

But there are a lot of benefits having more of them in one place....easier and more efficient K-2 and other product delivery, more efficient use of nearby ambulance and mortuary, police can walk to the site.  Cost effective all around.

Holy Rollers at Baylor just can't stay out of Sex Troublr!

Baylor has fired a newly hired assistant strength and conditioning coach after he was arrested on a prostitution solicitation charge
Dang, what is it with Waco?  Next thing Chip and Joanna will be splitsville, and there will be zero reasons to go there.  OK, maybe one reason. http://www.balconesdistilling.com/ (http://www.balconesdistilling.com/)
Seems to be more Baylor problems than Waco.
Yes, but guilt by association is how this stuff works.  Come on, get with the program!
And wtf do you think lives in Waco?  Ain't Longhorns and Aggies for damn sure.
But no folks hanging at the streetcorners and intersections panhandling....
Hosted the biggest biker gang war in 50 years too.
But they were good hosts!   ;)

Good morning, Sam. Have a bunch of things to do today but the cigar in the car is the only one I'm looking forward to. Catch ya later.
The cigar in the car IS a good thing.  my therapy for the ride in and home!  Enjoy and have a great day!  what are we smoking this morning anyway (I had a Mark Twain Memoir this morning)
Hopefully he smokes something on his short list
Sort of. Been carrying around a 2013 Quesada Oktoberfest for a while and finally got to it today. Nothing I would buy again but it was good. Lots of coffee and cocoa notes but also a little vegetal bitterness. Bottom line, it hit the spot.

Agreed that she looks great... For ANY age, despite the awkward photo.

Edit: Awkward because the perspective makes it appear like she's with two toddlers. And I generally don't check out the smoking hot bodies of little kids.

Now that's one MILF with whom I'd go the Deanway perspective.  Dayam.  On the other hand, she's has to be nothing but trouble when not in the sack.
Well aren't they all otherwise nothing but trouble so might as well be a super hot one.
Point taken.

Nording signature and crappy coffee
That's a nice looking pipe.
Thank you T. I have a handful of nordings. Great pipes
Do you always buy new or occasionally from estates?
I have a few estate's but I am very selective. A majority of my pipes are new. I only smoke certain genre's of baccy from certain pipes and rotate them so they always deliver a good smoke.

Nica Rustica.  You?

Edit, nevermind, Nording signature.
Is that the name of the tobacco or pipe?  Uncharted waters here...
Is that AJF Uncharted?

Agreed that she looks great... For ANY age, despite the awkward photo.

Edit: Awkward because the perspective makes it appear like she's with two toddlers. And I generally don't check out the smoking hot bodies of little kids.
besides she is standing on an apple crate, to make it appear she walks on water.

Thanks 3B. I learned most of what I know because I have hung out at my local B&M's where pipe smoking was very prevalent. Thus, I took up the pipe after smoking cigars on a regular basis. I do not claim to know all but I have been smoking cigars for close to 20 years and pipe tobacco about 10 years.

Grandfather was a cigar smoker.  His doctor cut him down to four a day.  From what I never found out.  Pop was a smoker but later quit.  Claimed I got him smoking cigars.  Big brother went down still smoking.  Was actually vaping at the last.

I really don't recall how I got into cigars, although I did have a biker buddy a number of years back whose handle was "Cigar King", and another who told me about CI.  The rest is history.

I remember the cigar boom in the 90's. While many of my friends were smoking cigarettes I was always intrigued with cigars.
Never into ciggypoos.
Me neither. Never smoked 'em.  They stink, especially compared to cigars and pipes.
I'll light a match for a hot lady's ciggypoo 😀
As soon as a hot lady lights a cig it's a complete turnoff for me.  No problem with a cigar.  My dad was a pack a day (unfiltered) cigarette smoker, so maybe that has something to do with it.
It's  a slippery slope 😁

But of all the slippery slopes one can find oneself on, this one ain't so bad. Plus the added bonus of the great BOTL one encounters, I say slide on!

Ocassional pipe and cigar beginning in my college years.  But like you say found CI and it's been down hill ever since.  Just never found a cigar smoking community until the banter.  Very glad I did.  My finances not so much.
