Join in this discussion and perhaps learn something about cigars along the way.  Be warned, you will catch hell if you post something everyone doesn't agree with.  And heaven forbid if you should make a grammatical error, you'll be berated with GFYs!  So don't proceed if you have thin skin.  Especially on a Tuesday.  Then light a cigar, pop open your favorite pumpkin beer and welcome aboard!

The Speeder
-------------------------

The Pope just finished a tour of the East Coast and was taking a limousine
to the airport. Since he'd never driven a limo, he asked the chauffeur if
he could drive for a while. The reluctant chauffeur pulled over along the
roadside, climbed into the back of the limo, and the Pope took the wheel.
The Pope then merged onto the highway and accelerated to over 90 mph to
see what the limo could do.

Suddenly, the Pope noticed the blue light of the State Patrol in his side
mirror, so he pulled over. The trooper approached the limo, peered in
through the windows, then said, "Just a moment please, I need to call
in."

The trooper called in and explained to the chief that he had a very
important person pulled over for speeding. "How do I handle this, chief?"
asked the trooper. "Is it the Governor?" questioned the chief. "No! This
guy is even more important!"

"Is it the President?" asked the chief.

"No! Even more important!"

"Well, who the heck is it?" screamed the chief.

"I don't know, sir," replied the trooper, "but he's got the Pope as his
chauffeur."

Not sure, probably not too much. It's only $200 before Uncle Sam took a big, wet bite out of it. Now it's about $125. Might take the family out to dinner this week, so $50-75 for cigars probably. Unless I also want to buy more books. Or a wifi range extender to boost the signal in the man cave. Sheesh!

Morning Chip, Dave. Got my direct deposit e-mail today and found out I got a top performer bonus this month. Nice surprise, since no one in management told me. Let's get something good on the jam now!
That's incredible.  But typical.  Congrats anyway.
To me, it couldn't have gone better. No speech, just give me the $$
I'm assuming that the same dickheads in management had to make the recommendation.  So that's something.
Can you picture that meeting? Well...we have to pick SOMEBODY. The tall guy scares me, let's give it to him

Not trying to pry but how much $$ towards cigars are we talking? Just want to enable accordingly  ;)

Sounds like a nice Bueso Wooden Ashtray combo and a trip to Chili's

And those same Dicks With Ears probably got a much larger bonus for making you into such a high performer.  At least that is the way it works around here.  Last year the Executive Director sent out personal letters to all high performers in the top two levels to make us feel good since they had no award $.  Great I felt so good knowing that not only did I have to write the letter for those awarded that worked for me but i had to write the fucking letter to myself for him to sign........  God it felt so sincere i started feeling a warm drizzle down my leg.

Not especially, no. She's had arthritis in her knees and compressed discs in her back for awhile. She used to get steroid shots to help, but she couldn't do that for awhile because of all the testing they were doing trying to figure out her other problems. Well, testing hasn't gone anywhere lately, so she's getting another round of the shots in her back this afternoon. Has to lay down for several hours afterwards, so she'll be laid up in bed, probably watching Doctor Who on Netflix with the middle kid.

Dang, sorry to hear that Dave.  My mom just did her second knee replacement(did both knees in 9months) in June...that was a struggle, but well worth it in the end...she is already better than she was with the 2 bad knees.  Would that be something she might have to do for her knees? No idea on the back stuff, HATE back pain.

Her knees aren't as bad, it's the discs in her neck and back that are the worst. She's doing the lower back today, then the neck in I think 2 weeks. Might as well get it all done while she's already hit her deductible for the year.

What's the good word, Shaun?
Class tonight, other than that, not too much.  Starting to look more like fall here, granted we don't usually get a lot of moisture this time of year(unless it's snow).  What's new with you?
Same ole, same ole.  Got to smoke a couple of cigars during MNF.  That's new.
Whadcha burn?

You were just born too late or are not pissed off/fed up enough yet which is more the case for the warden and me.   We are going to our Sons graduation in December and have some places lined up to look at in Georetown County (Coastline from Murrells Inlet to just north of Mt Pleasant) SC.  Our house here goes up for sale in the spring.  Of course everything hinges on this shakey economy not collapsing!

So, does KC push it to game 7 tonight, or does SF finish 'em off?

If they can beat Peavy tonight, Hudson probably starts tomorrow... and he can be had. Pretty good series so far.

I just haven't been able to follow this series much.  Lack of time more than lack of interest, it's a great match up.  Tired of seeing SF win, Giants fans come out of the woodwork down here.

For Travellin Dave and Any Other Non-Believers regarding the real Death Valley -

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — LSU officials say a man has died of a heart attack at Tiger Stadium during the school's 10-7 victory over Mississippi on Saturday night.  The LSU fan who died of natural causes in Tiger Stadium late in the fourth quarter against Ole Miss Saturday (Oct. 25) night has been identified as Brian Tingley. He was 59 and lived in the New Orleans metro area, East Baton Parish Coroner William "Beau" Clark said Sunday.

So I revisited the Tatuaje Tattoo last night, my second since buying a couple whenever they were released.  I thought it showed improvement and wasn't quite as bitter as the first one I'd had, but it's still nothing special.  Mostly cedar and pepper, still a bit rough around the edges.  Maybe they'd be decent after a year or so, but these are definitely smoking like the "budget" cigars they're supposed to be, IMO.  At a B&M, for $5, sure.  You can do a lot better at that price point online, though.  The Illusione Rothchildes is significantly better at the same price.

Couple beers this weekend... Lost Abbey Serpent's Stout.  11% ABV in a 750ml bottle.  Had a weird metallic taste.  Wouldn't buy again.  Also had a Victory at Sea, which still stands at the top of my list.  It's the best.

Two I picked up this weekend were the Terrapin Moo Hoo Chocolate Milk Stout and Bell's Special Double Cream Stout.  I haven't tried the Bell's yet, but the Moo Hoo hit the spot. I would say it is very consistent with last years batch. A bit on the sweet side, but still very good.

I gave it some time.  Switched back to whiskey for a few days there, got a lot more nice stuff over the weekend.

Forgot about the Stone Enjoy By 10/31/14 I also had.  Very tasty, more citrusy than previous batches have been.

Leaving for Naples, FL on Friday, will be interesting to shop for beer down there after another year of drinking. They have a better-than-average walk-in humidor there also (ABC store), lots of Padron and MF stuff, no Tats though if memory serves

I saw an interview with PJ he said that blend shines in the torpedo, if I ever try one I'm going to start there

Maybe I'll grab one at the B&M if they're there in April when Shaun's out here.  Or if Dave gets out here first.

Couple beers this weekend... Lost Abbey Serpent's Stout.  11% ABV in a 750ml bottle.  Had a weird metallic taste.  Wouldn't buy again.  Also had a Victory at Sea, which still stands at the top of my list.  It's the best.

Thought we might get to this at some point.

Speaking of Stone, saw a coffee milk stout, but didn't get it. Have you had this one? I know it's not VaS, but let me know if it's worth trying. It was a 6pk. If it was a bomber, I might have just got it.

I haven't tried it yet, haven't heard anything particularly good about it, but nothing bad either.  It's very low ABV... like, 4%.  Not too interested in a stout at that ABV.  If I'm gonna drink heavy beers with excessive calories in them, I gotta have more than 4% ABV.

This was the oddball of the bunch. I got it to try with the BIL.

Haven't had that one either but have heard it's a bit strange.  Sounds strange, anyway!

I think Dan has had the Stone Coffee milk stout.  I can try one and tell him my opinion, and then he'll be able to tell you his opinion.

I picked up a single, wasn't expecting much and it didn't deliver much, not worth it unless you're really curious. The coffee flavor wasn't there for me. A pretty good 6-pack coffee beer is Troegs Java Head, I'd put it slightly ahead of say the Lagunitas Cappuccino Stout

Ah, It's okay. I may just pick it up next time unless I just get more of the MooHoo. I understand what you're saying about the ABV, but some of those high gravity Imperials are way to bitter for my tastes... and those are the STRONG ones. The New Holland Dragon's Milk is about my max, and that's using the lactose sugar. Of course, it does have the booziness since it's bourbon-barrel aged.

Mornin Joe!  Good news-85% chance I am going to be in San Diego in April for a family vacation...will share more details once we book flights and such, but we will need to get together for a herf!

Sweet!  Keep me posted, I'll make myself available.
Sounds good - already told the wife I was going to meet up with some buddies if we go to SD.

Very good to know, I will lean on you for some of that info (don't worry, I won't squish you like Tony) when we get closer to the trip.  Pretty stoked, I have never been to Cali and my dad hasn't been back around that area much, he was born in 29-Palms.

Speaking of Stone, saw a coffee milk stout, but didn't get it. Have you had this one? I know it's not VaS, but let me know if it's worth trying. It was a 6pk. If it was a bomber, I might have just got it.

I will keep an eye out. I've definitely seen the Lagunitas. I'm not necessarily a coffee fan, but it seems to be the common pairing with the chocolates. I find myself liking more of the Milk stouts more than others.

And I can't think of a milk stout that I've particularly liked outside of the Belching Beaver PB.  They're just oddly sweet to me.

The lactose sugars help even out the bitterness of the dark malts, imo, fwiw, no offense, gfy.

Had lunch at one of Joe's San Diego Places here in Downtown Austin.   Wahoo's Fish Taco

Was it good?  Never been out here.
Does a lot of business here and good not great IMHO.  Real light food.

That's the gist of what I've heard about it out here.  Not bad, not great.  Probably because there are 100,000 other choices for fish tacos.
I would be the happiest man alive if I could get great fish tacos whenever I wanted

I had a ridiculously good swordfish sandwhich at Ballast Point last weekend.  Best of both worlds.
Now I could go for that!  New found beer hangout for me here had some special edition IPA brew Ballast Point this weekend and chit was $10.99 for a 10 0z bottle.  Out of my league.

Gotta draw a line somewhere.  $10 is usually that line for me, too.  Every now and then I might treat myself but there are plenty of great choices for less than that.

It looks like I'm going to have to take a half day to straighten out my mom's SSA benefits in person.  I have spent (no exaggeration) over 12 hours on hold over the last month and I still can't get a "person" to talk to.  I'm über frustrated right now with this as well as a shitty meeting I had here this afternoon.  Fuck everyone!

Greetings VIP's!

The Fall is finally here and between Oktoberfest's craft beers and all the season's limited edition cigars, it's a good time to hole-up in the man-cave! Tomorrow @ 1PM we're unleashing Pete Johnson's Tatuaje Holloween Monster Series, and Andre Farkas' Viaje Full Moon and Skull & Bones Holloween cigars. They're all pretty limited in quantites, So Tomorrow, Wednesday October 29th @ 1PM EST, Come and Get Em Before They're Gone!

This was my eldest daughter with the good coach.  My other kids were with grandma so I could really concentrate on the game.  It was nice and I was definitely pulling for them to win.  It's my 2nd daughter that has two douche coaches.
