There's a bass player and songwriter in Nashville named Jim Photoglo, whom I was vaguely familiar with as Dan Fogelberg's bass player in the 90s. Back in 1987 he wrote a song for the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band that became their biggest-selling hit. A little thing called "Fishin' in the Dark." Maybe you've heard it, or Garth Brooks' cover of it.A few weeks ago my dad sent me a message telling me the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band was going to be in town, and the bass player is my stepmother's cousin, and he was offering to comp us tickets. Did I want to go?So I looked up who was playing bass for NGDB these days, and it was Jim Photoglo. I responded, "Jim Photoglo is Athena's cousin??"Yup. Well, hell yeah I wanted to go. So, on Friday, I picked up the tab for dinner for dad, Athena, my wife Carol, son Christian (who had coincidentally become a fan recently of NGDB) and Cousin Jim. Then we went to the show.Fun times.
You can smoke cigars here right?
