Post by: CigarBanter on January 27, 2015, 12:00:48 AM
Dang, it's Tuesday again?  In between insults we'll occasionally discuss cigars.  Join in and perhaps learn something along the way.  Be warned, post on this site and you will catch hell from members and trolls alike.  Therefore, don't proceed if you have thin skin.  If you can accept all that, light a cigar, pour a beverage and welcome aboard!

The Sparrow
-------------------------

Once upon a time there was a non-conforming sparrow who decided not to fly south for the winter. However, soon the weather turned so cold that he reluctantly decided to fly south. In a short time ice began to form on his wings and he fell to Earth in a barnyard, nearly frozen solid. A cow passed by where he had fallen, and crapped on the little sparrow. The sparrow thought it was the end, but the manure warmed him and defrosted his wings!

Warm and happy, able to breath, he started to sing.

Just then a large cat came by, and hearing the chirping he investigated the sounds. The cat cleared away the manure, found the chirping bird, and promptly ate him.

The Moral of the Story:
Everyone who craps on you is not necessarily your enemy
Everyone who gets you out of crap is not necessarily your friend.
And if you're warm and happy in a pile of crap, you might just want to keep your mouth shut.

KEY WEST, Fla. –  Millions of genetically modified mosquitoes could be released in the Florida Keys if British researchers win approval to use the bugs against two extremely painful viral diseases.

Never before have insects with modified DNA come so close to being set loose in a residential U.S. neighborhood.

We're quite used to the apocalyptic winter storm predictions down here, and 9/10 times they don't pan out.  The time to pay attention is tornado season.  Ya don't f'k around with those things.

Oh wait.."Winter Storm Juno pulls its punches: Snow totals won't be as bad as forecast".  You mean those media types exaggerated?  No way!
I'll cut them some slack with this one.  Nor'easters are notorious for changing significantly by the center of the storm moving as little as 50 miles or so either way.

Morning fellers.  And NJDave, who at this point probably looks like Jack Nicholson at the end of The Shining.
Morning Bean, how much snow you got up north there this morning?      Just a dusting of dew down here.
No dew that I noticed.  Expecting a downpour of sunshine with temps in the mid-70's, though, so prepare! (put on your short sleeve shirt)

Really shootin' for the moon today, aren't you?
Step 1: Set Goal
Step 2: View Results :)
You will never demonstate leadership success with that plan.

Step 1:  Make up results
Step 2:  Set goal below results from step 1
Step 3:  Take credit for exceeding expectations along with everyone else's results
Step 4;   Make sure to tell everybody how exceptional you are
I prefer:

Phase 1: Underpants
Phase 2:
Phase 3: Profit
Haha, the final step is always PROFIT!
Nope, don't matter anymore as long as you followed the SOP and had a process with goals..... just blame it on somebody else and show a huge profit plan for next year.
LOL!  Fuckin SOPs - my dad's previous job was the owner of the SOP and our Store Process, so I lived with that shit for yeeeeeeeeaaaaaars.  Blame it on SOX and pay the fine - fuck it!
Hey don't go hatin' on SOP's....that's my life.  Now I'm talking real SOP's here and not that sad copycat SOX shit.

They tell me all the time around here "you did not follow the SOP" and I say back "yeah, but I got it done and it worked which would have never happened following the SOP, oh yeah and by the way what does the SOP say anyway".
The difference is SOP that are written properly are beneficial, SOP's written "because we have to have an SOP" are usually the problem.

Yep.  Amazing how much copy and paste goes on without any real thought put into them.  I deal with that schitt a lot.  Ask "why is this, it makes no sense" and you get "because it's our SOP".

Morning one and all, from the center of Snowmeggedan!   Long island got most of the snow..  Hardly any here, but all roads were closed, all mass transit suspended. ??? if there was 4 inches out there there was a lot. 2 to 3 feet forecasted, storm decided to go offshore, by 50 miles.
In other words, we get to call all you east-coasters pussies, right? I mean, turnabout is fair play...

Morning, muchachos. The one time I really wanted the jam to repeat something - Cuarentas - it doesn't. Commie bastiges. Fuckemall anyway.

Don't they hang cattle rustlers anymore?

A Waterloo man has been charged by New York State Police with grand larceny in the theft of 10 Black Angus steers from a farm in Lodi.
On 01/21/2015, State Police Waterloo charged 27-year-old Town of Waterloo resident, Harvey Miller, with Grand Larceny in the 3rd degree. The charge alleges that on the same date, Miller stole 10 Black Angus steers from Rosenkrans Farms located in the Town of Lodi.
Miller was arraigned by Town of Covert Judge Eileen Schmidt. Bail was set at $1,000 cash.

Good meatloaf works, I just never order it out without knowing ahead of time whether it is any good or not.
It's amazing to think someone could fuck meatloaf up, but somehow it's possible, hahaha.

Where is the lunch menu CG???  We need to get you an SOP established for that chore.
Tuesday
$3 meal option-1
   Soup Cream of Potato
   Salad Bar
$5 meal option-2 combination of any/all of the following:
   Soup  Cream of Potato
        Salad Bar
   Made to order deli sandwich
Grilled Fried Egg Sandwich w/ Bacon
   Meatloaf
I'll go with the egg and bacon sandwich, being as you guys don't have pork roll which is a superior meat alternate.

Open the floodgates, haha - I am still thinking about Tony and his 6" comment, hope that doesn't come up again.
Funny story, was eherfing with emmmmmWeber and his dad was over.  Mike makes some comment about 'being 12" deep', his dad burns him with 'was that on the 3rd or 4th try?'...EPIC.
Dad burn!

MYFOXNY.COM/AP - A National Weather Service official says the agency will evaluate its storm modeling after a storm that was predicted to dump a foot or more of snow on many parts of New Jersey and the Philadelphia region delivered far less than that.

"You made a lot of tough decisions expecting us to get it right, and we didn't. Once again, I'm sorry," said meteorologist Gary Szatkowski of the NWS

I've actually always wanted to go and check those stores out - never been to a big cigar shop from one of the giant companies: Holts, CI/Ccom, Smoke Inn, Corona Cigar, etc.

Only 'big' one I've ever been to was the Cuban Crafters store in Daytona.  Not as impressive as I thought it'd be, though it wasn't their main warehouse.  That said, if I could pick one to visit I think I'd go with Tampa Humidor.

So did you preregister for Cfest YellowStar?
No, might start a kickstarter campaign for some tickets - would be like a 'make-a-wish' thing to see all you fine gents in person!
Just FYI, try to avoid Friday, that's LTG's day.  Where is that post-whoring bastige, anyway?
He'll be here for a quick hazzuh and then he'll be gone until tomorrow.
I was reading. This is what I do on my lunch break, which I take late in my day. Usually why I disappear this time of the day.

Where is the lunch menu CG???  We need to get you an SOP established for that chore.
Tuesday
$3 meal option-1
   Soup Cream of Potato
   Salad Bar
$5 meal option-2 combination of any/all of the following:
   Soup  Cream of Potato
        Salad Bar
   Made to order deli sandwich
Grilled Fried Egg Sandwich w/ Bacon
   Meatloaf
Oh man that is a heartburn menu there, whoo not much but the old reliable deli sandwich to fall back on for me.  Tuesday Hot Dog Day at 7-11 for me I think.
Love me a fried egg sammich with mustard :)  Probably get a slice of meatloaf as well, he does make a good loaf of meat.
Mustard?  You're supposed to have ketchup with eggs!

Both of those are gross.  Go with some Sriracha.
With avocado slices and quinoa?
You can make fun of the left coasters all you want but I'm with Joe on the sriracha.  I always use it on my eggs.
Hippies!

The downtown CI store is little more than a hole in the wall. The superstore is much better, lots of space to move around. It's a big barn that has been converted. Haven't been to the Hamburg store yet, that's the super duper store, 2 levels. One of these years, for sure.

Never had a problem with that concept when I work at home.

That depends.  Are you actually working, or just loafing on the company's dime and blaming it on the weather?

If it's the latter, good for you.  Shake 'em up.
No, I'm actually working.  The morning was crazy but things have eased up a bit.  Plus the Mrs put the kibosh on the drinking during the day.  She's concerned that I'm drinking too much.  BITCH!

Are we all back up and running?  Sorry about that, folks.  That's the problem with hosting a site on a shared server.  I won't complain though.  Almost 8 months and that was the real first glitch we got.
Yeah I was wondering what you were doing behind the scenes ;)
I wasn't doing shit.  A number of sites besides this one experienced an outage too.  It happens.
North Koreans!!
Don't blame them, we all know it was Obama!   ;D
Is there a difference?

Oregon is known for specialty beers, but what about a beer made with sewer water?

Oregon may be "over my way" compared to the rest of you, but believe me, Oregon is a whole other country.  Besides which, I'm more likely to offer you whiskey from Wilkeson or Woodinville than beer.

Well, then when you come to visit, I'll take you on a tour you'll enjoy.

We'll start at Cole Street Brewery (http://www.colestreetbrew.com/). That's 5 minutes from my house.  Then we can stumble up to  Kelly's Mercantile (https://www.facebook.com/KellysMercantile?ref=br_tf/) to see Donny and Kelly and have Reuben Sandwiches.  Donny will hassle me to get a new band together and play there again, but we'll ignore him.

Then we can head south to Buckley and stop in at  Elk Head Brewery (http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/9820/?view=ratings&ba=RedDiamond).  That's 2 minutes from my house.

After that, we'll head up into the hills about ten minutes and visit Carbon Glacier Distillery (https://www.facebook.com/cgdistillery) and grab dinner at the Pick 'N Shovel.

If you're really insistent, after we sleep it off we can fight the traffic and go north to  Woodinville Whisky Company (http://www.woodinvillewhiskeyco.com/).  We could stop in at Pike Place Brewery, even visit Elysian brewery if you get here before Budweiser ruins the place.
